Chapter 9 Kiss Marks
When Bella came downstairs, the first thing she saw was Zoey giving her that knowing look, making Bella's face go beet red.
"Zoey? Where's Sterling?" Bella blurted out, trying to change the subject.
She really didn't want Zoey grilling her about last night or anything like that.
"Mr. Windsor hopped on a plane and left the country this morning. He stuck around an extra day just to celebrate your birthday yesterday," Zoey said, setting down breakfast.
'Yeah right, he just wanted to mess with me,' Bella grumbled to herself while munching on her food.
Out of nowhere, Zoey gasped, "Ms. Grey, what happened to your neck?"
Bella's hand flew to her neck, but she didn't feel anything weird.
It wasn't until Zoey handed her a mirror that Bella saw the hickey.
She suddenly remembered Sterling's rough kisses from the night before; he had kissed her neck.
Zoey, with a smirk, said, "I get it, you young folks like it a bit wild, but there are major arteries in the neck. Kissing there can cut off oxygen and make you pass out. So, be careful when you are doing it."
Zoey's words made Bella want to crawl into a hole and disappear.
"I'm done. I gotta get to school," Bella said, trying to make a quick exit, but Zoey stopped her.
"Here, put this on. You don't want your classmates seeing that hickey, do you?" Zoey said with a grin, handing Bella a scarf.
Bella blushed even more. This time, she didn't argue and quickly wrapped the scarf around her neck.
Zoey couldn't help but compliment, "Ms. Grey, you look stunning with that scarf. I've worn it for years, but only you make it look like something a movie star would wear."
Feeling like she'd blushed a million times already, Bella bolted out of the villa and hopped on her bike to school.
When Bella got to school, she had just parked her bike when she heard music coming from her backpack.
Right then, Anna walked by and saw Bella. She was about to say hi when she noticed Bella pulling out the latest iPhone from her bag.
"Bella, did your brother get that for you? Wow, isn't he usually super cheap? Did he finally loosen up?" Anna was shocked.
Bella was startled and instinctively looked around. After making sure no one was nearby, she sighed in relief.
"Seriously, Bella, how scared of your brother are you? Does he abuse you or something? He's not here now, so chill," Anna tried to comfort her.
Bella shook her head firmly. "No, you don't get it. That guy is everywhere."
Anna shivered, looked around, and whispered, "Does your brother turn into a ghost or something?"
Bella rolled her eyes but didn't bother explaining.
The phone had rung because she got a message. Bella opened it and saw just one sentence.
Sterling: [I've transferred some money to your account. Use it to buy some good food and gain some weight. You're too skinny to be a good pillow; it's uncomfortable to hold you while sleeping.]
