Chapter 400 Crazy to See Her

Bella shrugged, her face glowing with happiness. "Honestly, there's no big reason. One day, I just felt like I should do something that makes me happy. I love eating desserts and making them. That sweet feeling gives me a lot of satisfaction. So, I decided to open a dessert shop. Now, I get to do what I love every day and share that sweetness with different people."

"As for painting, even though I don't paint as often as I used to, it's still a very important part of my life."

"Bella, I really envy you. You have the guts to chase your dreams without worrying about what society thinks. I wish I could be brave like you and do what I love," Isadora said wistfully.

Bella patted Isadora's shoulder and smiled. "Isadora, you can do it too. Just take the first step, try and pursue what you love. You'll find that life can be much more beautiful and fulfilling."

Bella wanted to say, "Don't envy me," but she held back. What was there to envy? At least Isadora had a normal, complete family. Bella could never have her own children again.

That evening, as usual, Bella closed her dessert shop after Isadora and the others finished work. The city lights began to twinkle, adding a touch of mystery and romance to the bustling city.

At nine o'clock, the cool night breeze blew through Bella's long hair. She took a deep breath of the fresh air, savoring the tranquility and beauty of the night.

Watching the busy streets filled with people, Bella felt a sense of security. She decided to walk home instead of taking a cab.

The walk wasn't too far, and she enjoyed the feeling of strolling alone at night, as if the whole world belonged to her.

However, after walking a short distance, she felt like she was being followed again. Her heart tightened, and she became alert.

Bella cautiously glanced back, hoping to spot something unusual, but she saw nothing suspicious.

Despite this, Bella didn't let her guard down. She quickened her pace, trying to shake off the unsettling feeling.

Around the corner, a black Rolls-Royce was parked quietly. Inside, Sterling's face was as dark as water, his eyes fixed intensely on Bella's back.

"If you scare her again, I'll rip your head off," Sterling's voice was chilling.

The driver, Milo, was new and not as experienced and composed as Ryan. He felt the coldness emanating from Sterling, his hands trembling slightly on the steering wheel.

"Mr. Windsor... should we keep following or not?" Milo stammered, clearly intimidated by Sterling's presence.

Sterling remained silent for a moment, his gaze still locked on Bella, as if trying to etch her image into his mind. Then, he spoke slowly, his voice deep and commanding. "Follow her, but keep your distance. Stop at the entrance of her apartment complex."

Milo nodded quickly, carefully starting the car and following Bella at a safe distance, trying not to be noticed.

He kept an eye on Sterling's expression, afraid of angering his formidable boss.

Downstairs at the apartment building, Sterling stood quietly, his eyes fixed on Bella's window.

The lights were on, warm and soft, guiding the way home.

Sterling couldn't wait to see Bella, to talk to her, even if it meant being scolded by her. His longing was overwhelming, making it impossible to wait any longer.

Sterling had thought about taking things slowly, knowing that the misunderstandings and barriers between them weren't formed overnight.

But after seeing Bella during the day, he couldn't bear the forced patience anymore. The feeling was like being gnawed by thousands of ants, making his heart ache and keeping him awake at night.

Especially when he thought about Bella walking home alone at night, possibly feeling scared and lonely, he couldn't stand it. He wanted to rush to her and tell her he was always there, ready to do anything for her.

The elevator doors opened slowly, and Sterling stepped out, his pace quickening unconsciously. He walked towards Bella's door, filled with anticipation and nervousness.

Sterling didn't know if Bella would open the door or listen to him, but he decided to try, hoping to soothe his longing.

Standing at the door, he took a deep breath, his hand hovering in the air, hesitating for a long time before finally knocking.

But there was only silence, no response. A wave of disappointment washed over him, but he refused to give up.

The apartment complex was nice, but the units were relatively small, and the soundproofing wasn't perfect. Sterling faintly heard the sound of running water, guessing Bella might be taking a shower. This brought him a bit of comfort, though he felt helpless, and he waited patiently.

Just then, his phone rang in his suit pocket, interrupting his thoughts. He frowned, annoyed, but reluctantly answered the call.

"What is it?" His voice was deep and authoritative, leaving no room for argument. The person on the other end hesitated before speaking. "How's it going? Don't tell me you haven't even touched her hand."

Colin's teasing voice made Sterling's veins bulge with anger. He suppressed his fury and replied in a low, dangerous tone. "Colin, are you looking for trouble?"

Colin didn't seem afraid of Sterling's threat, laughing even more. "Come on, I'm just checking on your progress. Are you sure you don't need my help? Can you handle it yourself? I bet you can't even get into her apartment unless you use force."

Sterling took a deep breath, trying to sound calmer. "Alright, what's your idea?"

Colin paused, thinking of a plan. After a moment, he lowered his voice, sounding sly. "You know Bella's soft-hearted. If you act pitiful and call her, saying you're on the verge of death, do you think she'd ignore you?"

Sterling's mouth twitched slightly. He knew Bella's kind nature, how she easily empathized with others' struggles.
