Chapter 222 How Many Kids to Have
Anna didn't expect that this favor would involve meeting his mother. What kind of favor was this?
Anna was silent after being manipulated by Colin, but considering the $100,000 part-time salary, she could only grit her teeth and agree.
The Rivera Mansion sprawled over a vast area, exuding a sense of history that money simply couldn't buy.
As soon as she entered the yard, Anna recognized a centuries-old tree, which made her stop and linger for a long time. She liked this tree, it had an ancient charm.
Colin saw Anna staring at the tree in a daze and said, "Do you like it? If you do, you can come here often."
Anna glared at him without saying a word.
Gia had met Anna before. At her last birthday party, she saw Anna and liked her very much.
She originally thought Anna was a calculating girl, but unexpectedly, she turned out to be very likable.
Seeing Anna dressed so obediently this time, Gia liked her even more.
Compared to Gia's full-hearted joy, Anna was nervous. She was afraid of Gia's strong-woman aura, which was completely different from Qiana's.
Qiana was a weak woman who only knew how to spend money, while Gia was the true master of the Rivera family, managing everything.
She was a very capable woman; otherwise, how could she intimidate the men of the Rivera family?
Anna could only obediently say, "Mrs. Rivera."
Gia was drinking coffee in the living room, holding a white poodle.
When she saw Anna, she immediately stood up, joyfully saying, "You are really straightforward and not pretentious at all. That's great, you and Colin are a perfect match."
Anna looked at Colin in confusion, asking with her eyes, 'What's going on?'
Colin pretended not to understand.
Anna watched as Gia held her hand, constantly praising how well she matched with Colin.
With her intelligence, if she still couldn't guess what Gia was implying, she would be really stupid.
Finally, under Anna's about-to-explode gaze, Colin helplessly said to Gia, "Don't say things that scare her. Didn't you ask me to bring her back for dinner? Now that I've brought her, you handle it. I'll go upstairs to deal with some business."
Seeing Colin trying to leave, Anna grabbed him, giving him a look, 'What am I supposed to do if you leave now?'
Colin looked at her with a half-smile, then whispered in her ear, "Don't be afraid, my mom doesn't scold people."
Anna was frustrated. 'She may not scold people, but she sure is intimidating.'
Gia, seeing the little interactions between Anna and Colin, felt even more gratified. She said to Colin, "Go do your work, I'll chat with Anna."
Anna could only put on a professional fake smile, "Sure, Mrs. Rivera."
Gia pulled her to sit on the sofa, saying, "It's your first time at our home, no need to be nervous. I won't do anything to you. How long have you and Colin been dating?"
Anna felt like she was struck by lightning. When did she start dating Colin?
But thinking about it, Colin probably wanted her to pretend to be his girlfriend, otherwise, Gia wouldn't ask such a question.
Anna, confirming her role, immediately said, "Mrs. Rivera, actually, Colin and I are still getting to know each other."
Gia beamed with joy, "I know, you young people always say that when you first start dating. I understand."
Anna was going crazy, looking puzzled. She understands? Understands what?
Anna was at a loss, not understanding herself. She could only ask, "Colin mentioned that you wanted to see me, Mrs. Rivera. Is there something you need?"
Gia said, "What could I possibly need from you? I just wanted to invite you for dinner. When you and Colin get married, I can't meet you for the first time at the wedding, right?"
Anna felt she had been shocked enough tonight. How did it get to marriage? She and Colin were still just friends, but Gia was already talking about marriage.
Then Gia said, "How many children do you plan to have?"
Anna felt like she had died on the spot.
Seeing Gia wanting to continue talking about children, Anna immediately went crazy and stopped her, "Mrs. Rivera, you're thinking too far ahead. We haven't reached that stage yet."
Anna really didn't know what to say.
Gia looked at her seriously, "How can I be thinking too far? Having a few children can keep a man loyal. You know Colin is a flirt. He's lucky to have a wife like you. I'm happy for him."
"Alright, let's go have dinner. Go upstairs and call him down. I heard you work at Colin's company. After dinner, you should go back and rest early. You have work tomorrow. I won't take up your time. Young people should work hard."
Hearing Gia's words, Anna had given up on explaining.
Anna walked dazedly into Colin's study.
"Colin, did you bring me here tonight to deal with your mom? To pretend to be your girlfriend?"
Colin, seeing his plan exposed, said, "You figured it out?"
Anna looked at him resentfully, "Why didn't you tell me earlier? Do you know your mom is already thinking about children, asking how many we should have? Isn't that ridiculous?"
Colin pondered for a moment and seriously asked, "How many do you think we should have?"
Anna glared at him, "You still have the mood to joke. How are we going to explain this?"
Anna picked up a folder from the desk and threw it at him.
Colin caught it and said, "Alright, don't be mad. My mom is just joking. She's old and always wants me to settle down. I'm just fooling her to make her happy."
Anna continued to glare at him, gritting her teeth, "Can you really fool her about something like this? Aren't you afraid she'll be heartbroken if she finds out we're lying?"
Colin shrugged, "What else can I do? Get married now? I need to find someone I like first... Anyway, help me deal with my mom. It's $100,000. Don't let my money go to waste, okay?"
Anna snorted heavily, "Can I refuse?"
"Refusal is not an option." Colin suddenly put his arm around her shoulder and led her out. Anna struggled a bit.
Colin took Anna downstairs and reminded her to manage her expressions, "Don't look so depressed. People might think I forced you to come."
Anna slowly turned to look at him, speaking resentfully, "Didn't you?"
Colin coughed, "Alright, let's go, time for dinner."
