Chapter 306 One Last Time

Caleb took a deep breath, trying to calm his emotions. "For the first time, I feel weird talking to you. Let's just eat."

With that, he picked up his fork and started eating in silence.

Anna lowered her head and quietly picked at her food too. The atmosphere between them was unbearably awkward and tense, like the air had turned to stone.

They ate in complete silence. Anna's heart was filled with resentment and dissatisfaction towards Caleb, while Caleb felt immense loss and pain.

He knew his past actions had deeply hurt Anna, and winning her back seemed nearly impossible.

Anna had no appetite; she only forced herself to eat a few bites under Caleb's pressure, not even tasting the food. Her fear had deeply affected her senses, making everything taste like dread.

Finally, when the meal was over, she couldn't wait to get up and said, "I need to go." Anna was desperate to escape this oppressive and unsettling place.

However, Caleb wasn't ready to let her go so easily. He smiled at her, his eyes revealing a determined resolve. "Won't you stay a bit longer? At least make me happy? I just want to spend time with you."

Anna felt a surge of anger and helplessness, almost driven mad by Caleb's persistence.

She shouted, "But I don't want to spend time with you! This time, I'm suffering for Bella's sake. What's next? What do you plan to do to her? To me? She's already left Windsor Villa and Sterling. Stop holding onto her! Your issues with Sterling shouldn't involve Bella. If you hate Sterling so much, go directly to him. Stop doing these horrible things!"

Caleb's smile faded as he listened to Anna's outburst.

He took a deep breath and slowly said, "Do you think you can decide anything? Bella's issues, Sterling's issues, they're not for you to interfere with. You just need to stay by my side and follow my arrangements."

Anna felt a deep sense of despair and powerlessness. She knew she couldn't change Caleb's mind or decisions, and even speaking to him felt suffocating.

Caleb paused, then softened his tone. "Is this what you want? If it is, stay with me. I'll do as you wish. I won't trouble Sterling anymore if you can forget everything that happened and be with me. I'll do anything you ask."

Anna found his words laughable. She knew Caleb wasn't a man easily swayed by a woman. Even if she agreed to stay with him, it wouldn't change his inner thoughts and plans.

Anna shook her head firmly, her tone tinged with sarcasm. "I don't believe you. How long do you plan to use those recordings to control me? You should know me well enough to understand that if you push me too far, I'll fight back. Even if you post the recordings online, I can find a remote place to live peacefully. I have thick skin. If that can bring me peace, I'd rather you do it quickly!"

Caleb's face darkened instantly. He hadn't expected Anna to be so resolute and decisive.

He knew that if he made the recordings public, it would ruin Anna's reputation and drag him into a pit of despair.

Caleb took a deep breath, trying to calm his emotions. "Anna, do you really want to push me like this? I'm doing this just to be with you. Can't you understand my intentions?"

Anna looked at him coldly, her eyes filled with indifference and detachment. "Caleb, stop fooling yourself. Your so-called intentions are just about satisfying your own desires and possessiveness. I'm done being deceived and used by you. I'm not giving you another chance to hurt me."

With that, she turned and walked towards the door, ready to leave this oppressive and unsettling place without hesitation.

But suddenly, she felt a force from behind.

Caleb tightly embraced her from behind. Anna immediately struggled to break free, but Caleb's grip was surprisingly strong.

"Don't move. Let me hold you one last time. Please, don't refuse me," Caleb's voice was almost pleading.

Anna could only endure her inner resistance, letting Caleb hold her. She told herself this was the last time, the last time.

Caleb might have known that once Anna left tonight, he would lose her completely.

From then on, they might never see each other again. He understood that he had caused all of this himself.

He had lost Anna with his own hands. He buried his face in her neck, taking a deep breath, savoring her scent one last time.

He knew tonight was their last meeting. He had given up; he was letting go.

Caleb knew he had done many wrong things, but he regretted them. If he had another chance, he would still choose to take revenge on the Windsor family.

But he regretted everything he did to the Powell family, which made him lose Anna.

He had always lived in darkness, and Anna, the bright and vibrant heiress, was like a little sun that illuminated his dark life. But he had extinguished his own light with his own hands.

Caleb's obsession and longing for her during this time were just his unwillingness to let go. But he didn't want to involve Anna in what he was going to do next. Tonight would be his last indulgence.

"Anna, you can go. From now on, we won't see each other again. As you wish, I won't bother you anymore. We won't meet again." Caleb slowly released his grip on her waist.

Anna didn't expect Caleb to say that. She didn't look back, only calmly said, "Alright, never again."

With that, Anna quickly opened the door and ran out, afraid Caleb would change his mind.

She ran to the street, not hearing Caleb's whispered "I'm sorry."

But it didn't matter to her anymore.

Anna bent over, catching her breath. A black sedan, like a meteor in the night, suddenly sped past her, creating a gust of wind.

It then made a graceful U-turn and stopped steadily beside her.

The car door opened and closed quickly, accompanied by urgent and powerful footsteps. Colin's worried face instantly appeared before her.

Anna instinctively raised her hand to wipe away the remaining tears on her cheeks, her eyes filled with surprise and confusion.

"Colin? What are you doing here? At this time, shouldn't you be..."
