Chapter 189 Leaving The Windsor Villa

Sterling suddenly dropped the files in his hand and said, "Bella, are you constantly reminding me that my wife slept in the same bed as my best friend?"

Bella was so shocked by Sterling's blunt words that her heart skipped a beat.

She retorted, "So what if Micah and I were lying together? Nothing happened between us. What are you so upset about?"

"Just because we were in the same bed, you think something happened? Don't think so lowly of me. Just because your mind is in the gutter doesn't mean everyone else's is."

"You don't trust me, but I trust Micah. Even if I stood naked in front of him, he wouldn't do anything to betray you."

"Sterling, don't tarnish our relationship, and don't underestimate the friendship between you and Micah."

Sterling was taken aback by Bella's words. His eyes turned red as if he was struggling to hold something back.

It was as if Sterling had heard something particularly provocative, especially since Bella was defending Micah with every word.

He couldn't forget the image of Bella and Micah lying together that day. But he couldn't blame either of them.

He knew it was a plot by someone else. If he got angry, the enemy would win.

But he didn't know where to direct his anger. Everyone had been telling him that Bella and Micah couldn't have done anything, and he knew that was true.

Sterling didn't know what he was angry about—whether it was Bella or Micah. In the end, he realized he was most angry at himself.

Sterling hated himself for not protecting Bella, giving the enemy an opportunity.

Finally, Sterling suddenly calmed down. He slumped into a chair and said in a compromising tone, "I know there's nothing between you and Micah. But what about you and James? Never mind, just give me some time, okay?"

Sterling's tone made Bella's heart ache. She swallowed the bitterness rising in her throat and said, "Sterling, I understand what you mean."

Bella turned and walked out. Not long after, she was downstairs with her suitcase.

Zoey had been keeping an eye on the situation upstairs. She felt that something was off between Bella and Sterling since Bella returned from the hospital. She grabbed Bella's suitcase.

"Mrs. Windsor, what are you doing? Are you going on a business trip or running away from home? You just got out of the hospital, why are you leaving again?" Zoey was frantic.

Zoey didn't know about Bella and Micah. Bella simply said, "Zoey, I'm going to stay somewhere else for a while. Sterling doesn't want to see me, so I won't be around to bother him. Don't worry about it."

But Zoey held onto Bella's suitcase tightly and said, "No way, Mrs. Windsor. I need to talk to Mr. Windsor. You can't leave."

Bella forcefully took back her suitcase and left the villa without looking back.

Sterling watched the whole scene from upstairs. He saw Bella leave the Windsor Villa with her suitcase.

Zoey was exasperated and said, "Mr. Windsor, why didn't you stop Mrs. Windsor? What is she doing? Did you two have another fight?"

Sterling didn't say a word and turned back to his study. He didn't know what was wrong with him.

What was he so upset about? He knew Bella and Micah hadn't done anything, so why couldn't he get over it?

He hadn't seen Micah during this time either. He didn't know what to say or how to face Micah.

It wasn't until Bella left the Windsor Villa that he finally understood. He was punishing himself for his arrogance, thinking he could protect Bella, but he had repeatedly put her in danger.

Even though he knew this was a plot, he still cared. It was his way of punishing himself.

But Sterling didn't realize that his attitude was not only punishing himself but also hurting Bella.

Sterling thought that maybe it was good for him and Bella to take a break and cool down.

Some things needed to be resolved. If left unresolved, they would become hidden dangers. He couldn't put Bella in danger again.

As soon as Bella left the Windsor Villa, she called Anna. She knew Anna was staying in an apartment provided by Colin.

She wanted to stay with Anna for a while because she didn't know where else to go.

Anna didn't hesitate and skipped work to pick up Bella. As soon as they met, Anna started cursing Sterling.

"Sterling still doesn't believe you? Is he out of his mind? How can he doubt you and Micah? It's obviously a plot. Instead of investigating the truth, he's here sulking and taking it out on you. With that kind of intelligence, how does he run the Windsor Group?"

Bella was also angry at Sterling's attitude, but the fact remained that she and Micah had been in the same bed.

She understood that Sterling didn't want to see her right now, so she decided to give him some time.

Seeing Bella remain silent, Anna asked, "What are you thinking? Sterling is treating you like this, and Colin says Sterling hasn't even seen Micah. What are you going to do next?"

Bella sighed. She didn't know how to face the situation either. She felt guilty towards Micah.

The friendship between him and Sterling was now complicated by her presence. She really didn't know what to do.

"Forget it, don't think too much. Stay at my place for a few days and see what Sterling says." Anna hugged Bella and took her home.

When they got back, Qiana wasn't there. Anna settled Bella in the guest room, which was clean and comfortable.

The apartment Colin provided for Anna was spacious and cozy. Bella looked around and said, "Colin is really good to you."

Anna smiled and said, "It's just a company perk. Everyone gets it. What's so special about it? As the boss, he can afford to give his employees some benefits."

Bella smiled but didn't say anything.

What kind of boss gives such a big apartment to an assistant? Only someone as oblivious as Anna wouldn't realize Colin's intentions.

Bella stared at her phone in a daze.

Sterling couldn't possibly be unaware that Bella had left the Windsor Villa in a fit of anger, but he hadn't called or texted her.

As she looked at her phone, Bella's thoughts wandered. It seemed Sterling agreed with her leaving. Would he agree to a divorce?
