Chapter 380 Go Back

As soon as Bella heard this, she got the gist and gave Anna a playful pat on the shoulder. "Oh, come on, you two have been stuck together all afternoon? That's intense. I thought you were in a bad mood, but it looks like you're just wiped out."

Anna sighed, looking both helpless and frustrated. "It's not what you think. I really am in a bad mood. During dinner, his mom was there, and she stared at me like a hawk the whole time. I already didn't have much of an appetite, and with her glaring at me, I barely ate anything."

"On the way to dinner, she even told him she didn't want him spending so much time with me and that he should focus more on the company. Isn't it obvious she thinks I'm a distraction? She must hate me even more now."

Anna's eyes started to well up, clearly uncertain about the future of her relationship.

Bella hadn't been there, so she couldn't be sure what Gia was thinking. Seeing Anna so troubled, Bella tried to comfort her.

"Don't overthink it. Don't get yourself tangled up in all those complicated emotions. You're too straightforward for that. Just find a time to talk to Colin, share your thoughts and concerns with him. Maybe Gia isn't as bad as you think. Maybe she just wants you to come back to Harborvale so the family can be together. We've talked about this before; you should really consider it. Marriage isn't just about two people; it's about two families. If you love each other, you'll find a way to make it work."

Bella's words were gentle yet firm, trying to clear the fog in Anna's mind and show her a more positive perspective. She knew Anna needed understanding and support, not more criticism and worry.

Anna paused, her eyes filled with determination. "I'm not going back. If I go, you'll be alone. Bella, I won't leave you. I've said this before. Unless you come with me, I'm not leaving. And Sterling, I don't think he'll let you go so easily. You two have so much history. But it's been so long, why hasn't he made a move? It's really confusing."

Mentioning Sterling made Bella frown slightly. She sighed and said to Anna, "Anna, can we not talk about him? I really don't want to think about the past anymore. Look, with his personality, he wouldn't let me go easily. But the fact is, he has. Like you said, it's been so long, and he hasn't done anything. That means he's really letting me go.

I've adjusted to my life now. I have new friends, a new job, and new hopes. I don't want you bringing up those weird scenarios that make me uncomfortable. I hope he only contacts me once more in this life, and that's to finalize the divorce. Other than that, I don't want any more ties with him."

Bella's words were resolute and firm. She didn't want to be haunted by the past or have her current peaceful life disrupted by Sterling.

She knew that only by completely letting go of the past could she embrace the future. Anna understood Bella's feelings and gently patted her shoulder in support.

Suddenly, Anna seemed to remember something important and smacked her forehead. "Oh right, you haven't officially divorced him yet! As long as you're not divorced, you're still Mrs. Windsor. Whether he contacts you or not doesn't matter legally because you're still his wife. I've been away from Harborvale so long, I almost forgot you're still Mrs. Windsor."

Bella was both amused and exasperated. She shook her head and said to Anna, "You always say the wrong thing at the wrong time. I told you not to bring it up! Fine, I'm not talking to you anymore!" With that, she turned and walked into the kitchen, leaving Anna standing there awkwardly.

Anna knew she had upset Bella again. She scratched her head, silently vowing not to bring it up again, but she always seemed to forget right after saying it.

Anna pouted, lost in her thoughts. Just then, her phone buzzed with a new message. She quickly opened it and saw it was from Colin, short and to the point: "My mom wants you to come back to Harborvale with me."

Seeing the message, Anna's feelings became complicated. On one hand, she felt a bit happy because it showed Gia might not think she was a distraction but had other reasons for wanting them back in Harborvale. This made her feel their relationship might not be as hindered as she thought.

On the other hand, she was deeply worried. She couldn't leave Bella alone here. Their friendship and mutual support had become essential to both of them. If she left, what would happen to Bella?

After some thought, Anna replied to Colin: "No, I can't leave Bella alone. She's only got me here, and I can't abandon her." After sending the message, she fell into deep thought, her emotions a mix of confusion and concern.

A few minutes later, Colin called. Anna looked around to make sure no one was paying attention before answering, "No one's around. Go ahead."

Colin hesitated, choosing his words carefully before speaking. "Just come back with me. Don't worry about Bella. Sterling will come for her soon. He had some things to take care of and wanted to give Bella some space, but now that it's almost done, he'll come for her. Bella will be back in Harborvale soon too."

Anna's voice was filled with disbelief and doubt. "Are you serious? You're not just saying this to get me to go with you, are you? I just talked to Bella about this, and she wasn't happy. What could be so important that he had to wait to come for Bella? It sounds like an excuse. If Sterling really cared about Bella, he would've come for her by now, not waited this long."
