Chapter 430 Cold and Distant

Colin's response caught Anna off guard. His tone was icy, his lips barely moving as he muttered, "Don't wait for me."

With that, he headed straight for the ticket gate, leaving Anna no chance to explain or seek comfort.

Anna stood there, watching Colin's retreating figure, a wave of inexplicable loss and confusion washing over her. She couldn't understand why Colin had suddenly become so distant and cold. Was he angry?

Watching Colin's indifferent back, Anna felt something was off. She quickened her pace, jogging to catch up with him, her voice tinged with urgency and confusion. "What's wrong with you? You seem upset."

Colin's steps faltered slightly, but he didn't turn around. He responded coldly, "Does it matter to you if I'm happy or not? As long as you're happy, that's all that matters."

His words felt like a dagger, piercing deep into Anna's heart. She stopped in her tracks, a mix of confusion and disappointment flashing in her eyes. She couldn't understand why Colin had suddenly become so cold and distant, as if she no longer held a place in his heart.

Anna's mind raced, and she finally realized that Colin's change in attitude might have something to do with her, but she had no idea what she had done wrong. Summoning her courage, she called out loudly, "Wait a minute! What do you mean? It sounds like I did something to upset you. Why are you acting like this? Just tell me what's wrong!"

Colin took a deep breath. He didn't want to argue in the bustling airport; it wasn't his style. He just wanted to wait until he calmed down before having a proper conversation with her. Losing control of his emotions in anger wouldn't lead to the outcome he truly wanted. "It's nothing, let's go."

Anna was momentarily stunned by his words and didn't press further. But her face turned pale, filled with unease and confusion. She had no idea what had gone wrong to make Colin so cold and distant.

She lowered her head, silently looking at her arm that Colin had gently brushed off, feeling a surge of inexplicable sadness. She had once believed that her relationship with Colin was unbreakable, but now it seemed otherwise.

Just last night, they had a perfectly fine phone call. How had things changed so drastically today?

Sitting on the plane, Anna glanced at Colin, who had his eyes closed, seemingly resting. Her heart was filled with confusion and unease.

Anna was perplexed, trying to guess his thoughts but completely unable to grasp them. She didn't know what she had done wrong or how to break the silence between them.

As the plane took off and the altitude increased, the change in pressure made Anna's mood even heavier. She nervously tugged at her clothes, her fingers turning white from the pressure. Her heart felt like it was being gnawed at by a thousand ants, unbearable and tormenting.

She stole a glance at Colin, who still had his eyes closed, seemingly lost in his own world, oblivious to her presence. This made her feel even more lost and helpless.

Two hours later, the plane landed safely. Anna followed Colin, her steps heavy, her eyes gradually reddening. The airport was bustling, but she felt like she was in another world, everything around her becoming blurry and distant. She held back her tears until they reached the taxi stand, where she finally mustered the courage to speak softly:

"Did I do something wrong? Or are you just tired of me?" Her voice trembled slightly, filled with helplessness and despair. She didn't want to admit it, but she had a sinking feeling.

Colin heard the slight grievance and caution in Anna's voice, and a complex emotion surged in his heart. He turned around, startled, seeing her red-rimmed eyes, a mix of panic and heartache flashing through him.

"Why are you crying?" he asked softly, his voice tinged with confusion and concern. He had never seen Anna so vulnerable and helpless, which made him feel both unfamiliar and pained.

However, Anna quickly wiped away her tears, forcing a brave smile. "I'm not crying. We've known each other for so long, can't we just talk openly? Don't be like this, it makes things difficult for me."

Colin's brow furrowed, his thoughts a tangled mess, unable to understand why Anna was crying or what she meant by her words. He felt unprecedented confusion, as if he had lost the basic ability to understand women.

"What are you talking about? I have nothing to say openly. I'm not trying to change anything." His words carried a hint of frustration and helplessness, trying to make sense of the chaotic situation. "Can you give me some time to get used to this?"

Just then, a taxi pulled up in front of them, interrupting Colin. He quickly grabbed Anna's luggage, opened the back door, and gestured for her to get in. "Let's go to the hotel first, stop crying."

Anna silently got into the car, sitting in the back seat, tears welling up but she fought to keep them from falling. Colin sat beside her, a tense and awkward atmosphere hanging between them.

In the car, both chose to remain silent. Colin was thinking about how to resolve this sudden situation, while Anna was trying to calm her emotions, not letting the tears fall again.

In Anna's heart, Colin had always been the one to take the initiative. Every look, every approach from him had made her feel his deep affection. But today, he seemed like a different person, cold and distant, leaving Anna deeply confused and saddened.

Anna recalled all the good things Colin had done for her, the sweet promises and tender words, and a wave of bitterness washed over her. She began to doubt if it had all been just a way to deceive women.

And she wondered if she was just one of many women to him, destined to be discarded eventually.

Anna knew her past was troubled, and marriage seemed like a luxury to her.

Even if Colin was cold to her now, she held no resentment. She understood that having this relationship was already a great happiness. If it was destined to end, she would choose to part amicably, leaving no regrets.

Anna's heart was filled with anxiety and unease. She had finally mustered the courage to ask the questions she wanted to, but Colin had not given her a clear answer.
