Chapter 28 The Annoying Boss

Bella was totally wiped out after a crappy night of sleep.

But when she finally dragged herself out of her room, she was shocked to see Zoey bossing people around, moving Sterling's stuff out.

"Zoey, what are you doing?" Bella asked, totally confused.

Zoey grinned and said, "Mr. Windsor thinks his clothes and bedding stink of booze, so he wants to chuck 'em and get new ones."

Bella just nodded. Yep, that sounded exactly like Sterling.

Just as Bella was about to head out for work, Zoey grabbed her arm. "Did you seriously leave Mr. Windsor alone in the room after he puked last night?"

Bella nodded, not seeing the big deal.

"Mrs. Windsor, no wonder he looked so pissed this morning. How could you just leave him like that?" Zoey was baffled.

Bella's lips twitched. She could guess what Sterling was thinking. He was probably mad she left him to marinate in the smell of alcohol.

"Got it, Zoey. I'll be more careful next time," Bella said with a smile and left the villa.

Bella worked at the Skyline Group.

When she got to her desk, ready to start her day, her boss, Felix Coleman, walked over.

Felix handed her a cup of coffee. "Bella, you look like crap. Rough night? Here, have some coffee."

Bella glanced at the coffee and shook her head. "Sorry, Mr. Coleman, the doc said no coffee for me right now."

She knew Felix was trying to be nice, but she also knew he had a thing for her.

To everyone else, Felix was the perfect catch—good job, well-liked, decent-looking. But after knowing someone like Sterling, Felix didn't even come close.

"Okay, if not coffee, how about dinner tonight?" Felix tried again.

Bella looked at him, exasperated. "Mr. Coleman, I've told you a million times, I'm married. Stop wasting your time."

Felix didn't buy it. "Yeah, right. You're in your twenties. No way you're married. What's your husband's name?"

Bella looked him straight in the eye. "Sterling Windsor."

Felix burst out laughing. "You're the tenth woman to claim her husband is Mr. Windsor! Get real. Why would someone like him be interested in you?"

Bella felt like she was looking at that jerk counselor who got kicked out of school three years ago.

She didn't bother explaining. She didn't even know why Sterling married her, but that was none of Felix's business.

"If there's nothing else, please don't bug me," Bella said, turning back to her computer. Felix's face twisted with anger.

'No woman can resist me. Just wait,' Felix thought, glaring at Bella before storming off.

Meanwhile, in Sterling's office, Debra was all over him, acting all flirty.

"Sterling, I waited for you all night. Why didn't you come see me? You owe me! I saw this purse I really want. Can you get it for me?" Debra's sugary tone would have melted most guys.

Sterling, unfazed, handed her a credit card. "Use this. Buy whatever you want."

Debra's eyes lit up as she slipped the card into her bag.

Just then, Sterling's secretary knocked and walked in. "Mr. Windsor, we've located the company where Ms. Grey works."

Sterling turned to Debra. "Go have fun. I have work to do," he said, following his secretary out.

Debra stood there, fuming. "Damn Bella, why do you have to fight with me for Sterling!"

She angrily pulled out her phone to call Bella.

Meanwhile, Sterling arrived at Bella's office building.

It wasn't as fancy as his own, but he had a mission: to buy out Bella's company. Normally, he wouldn't bother showing up in person, but he wanted to see Bella at work.

When the company bigwigs heard Sterling was there, they rushed downstairs to greet him. Sterling didn't need to be present in person for the negotiation, so he wandered around, even checking out the restroom.

In the restroom, he overheard a guy in the next stall. Normally, he wouldn't care, but the guy mentioned a name that caught his attention.

"Don't worry, no woman can resist me. That chick Bella is no different. I've never had a girl like her before. You know what she told me today? She said her husband is Sterling! How ridiculous! Bella must be nuts. Watch, I'll have her in my bed by tonight," Felix bragged into his phone.

Sterling's face darkened with rage.

When the toilet flushed, Felix walked out and saw Sterling.

"Can I help you?" Felix asked, confused.

Sterling didn't answer. Instead, he punched Felix square in the nose and kept pounding him.

Felix didn't stand a chance. Sterling's punches were quick and brutal, making Felix scream in pain.

When Felix couldn't take it anymore, he covered his head and stomach, begging Sterling to stop. "Please, stop! I'm gonna die! What did I do to you?"

Sterling glared at him coldly. "Remember this: I am Bella's husband!"
