Chapter 253 A Pair of Idiots
Upon hearing Colin's response, Anna scoffed, "A pair of idiots."
Micah, sitting nearby, gave Anna a knowing look. This trip was definitely not going to be boring; there was bound to be some drama.
Colin kept a polite smile plastered on his face, but inside he was filled with helplessness and embarrassment.
He knew that his past with this woman, who had clearly had some cosmetic work done, might become a minor episode on this journey.
Sterling and Micah were undoubtedly watching with amusement, likely to bring it up later as gossip.
Meanwhile, Bella quietly observed the situation, sensing Colin's discomfort and frustration.
Anna, on the other hand, seemed completely unfazed by it all.
Seeing that Colin didn't reject her, the woman naturally linked her arm with his, her face beaming with excitement.
"What a coincidence, I'm heading to Oakridge too! I'm going there for a commercial shoot. We can hang out together!"
"This plane is flying directly to Oakridge, isn't it? Where else could it go? What's so coincidental about that?" Bella asked, feigning innocence.
First class fell silent for a few seconds. Bella looked at Sterling, puzzled. "Did I say something wrong?"
Sterling pulled her into his arms with a smile. "No, it's just that some people say really dumb things."
Anna silently gave a thumbs-up to Sterling and Bella, impressed by Sterling's sharp wit.
The woman, clearly having heard their conversation, looked momentarily embarrassed but quickly regained her smile.
Colin, however, felt suffocated by her enthusiasm.
Colin scrutinized the woman in front of him, realizing her face hadn't been this exaggerated six months ago.
He forced a smile and stood up, deciding to leave the uncomfortable situation.
He walked over to Micah and whispered, "Can we switch seats?"
Micah raised an eyebrow and grinned. "No way. Your exes are everywhere. Why should I suffer for your 'surprise'? She doesn't like me, after all. Isn't she that minor celebrity, Lisa? I remember she was one of the better-looking ones. Though now, she's a bit overdone."
Anna, unable to stand it any longer, got up and took Colin's seat without hesitation.
Lisa was stunned, her face showing displeasure.
Lisa glared at Anna and demanded, "Who are you? What's your relationship with Mr. Rivera?"
Anna, known for her fiery temper, retorted, "I'm his great-aunt, and you're too noisy."
Lisa's face turned red with anger. She put on her sunglasses and headphones, falling silent.
The cabin returned to peace, with only the occasional hum of the plane's engines.
Colin shot Anna a grateful look, relieved to have such a "great-aunt" to bail him out.
Micah, meanwhile, stifled a laugh, admiring Anna's straightforwardness and courage.
The plane landed gently at Oakridge Airport as night fell, the city illuminated by sparkling lights.
The group of five headed to their pre-booked five-star hotel to rest for the night, preparing for the journey ahead.
Coincidentally, they discovered that Lisa had also chosen the same hotel.
Even more coincidentally, her room was directly across from Colin's, separated by only a six-foot-wide hallway, much to Colin's dismay.
Before entering her room, Lisa threw Colin a flirtatious glance, her smile smug. "See you around, Mr. Rivera."
Lisa's voice carried a hint of seduction, making Colin even more uncomfortable.
Micah, seemingly anticipating Colin's request to switch rooms, darted into her own room like a rabbit before anyone could react, leaving Colin standing helplessly in the hallway, looking to Anna for help.
Colin tugged on Anna's sleeve, his eyes pleading. "Anna, please."
Anna rolled her eyes, her tone scolding. "You really have too many exes. They're everywhere."
Despite her words, she couldn't help but feel a bit annoyed.
Later that night, as Anna was deep in sleep, a sudden, urgent knock on her door woke her.
Rubbing her sleepy eyes, she grumbled as she opened the door, only to find a drunken Lisa standing there.
Lisa's face bore a dreamy smile, her eyes challenging. "So, you switched rooms with the person I'm looking for? But I still need to tell you, he's still mine. You get what I mean?"
Her voice was slurred, clearly drunk.
Anna rolled her eyes, her anger rising. "So what if we switched rooms? I'm still his great-aunt! Get lost! Knock again, and I won't be so nice!"
Anna's tone was warning and impatient, clearly fed up with Lisa's antics.
Realizing her precarious situation, Lisa turned and left, muttering incoherently.
Anna slammed the door shut and returned to bed, her irritation growing, cursing Colin a hundred and eighty times in her mind.
Meanwhile, Bella lay in bed, unable to sleep.
The hotel bed was too soft, and the pillows were much higher than those at home, making her extremely uncomfortable.
She tossed and turned, feeling uneasy in the unfamiliar environment.
Sterling, who had been asleep, was awakened by Bella's restlessness. He groggily opened his eyes and asked with concern, "What's wrong? Are you uncomfortable?"
Bella sighed softly, complaining, "I can't sleep. I'm not used to the bed." Her voice was filled with helplessness and fatigue.
Sterling gently moved the pillow from under her head and replaced it with his arm, holding her tenderly. "Is this better? Just pretend we're at home. I'm here with you."
Bella adjusted her position in his arms, feeling slightly better.
However, compared to the comfort of home, this was still far from ideal. She whispered, "I feel like this trip is just torture. I can't even sleep well. I wish we were at home, with my bed, my pillow, and the familiar smell."
