Chapter 293 Imprisoning Her
Caleb handed the ointment to Anna, but he didn't seem to have any intention of leaving, which annoyed her. She frowned and asked, "Are you planning to watch me put this on the whole time?"
Caleb didn't respond, just looked at her. Seeing her hesitate, he sat down on the edge of the bed. "I've already told you, for the next two weeks, you need to get along with me and drop all your resistance. Otherwise, I won't let you leave."
Anna felt a sharp pain in her heart from his words, a mix of anger and humiliation that almost driving her to the brink of losing control. She glared at him, her voice trembling with emotion. "What gives you the right to treat me like this? What makes you think I can be at your mercy?"
Caleb seemed unfazed by her anger. His gaze was calm and deep, as if he could see into the depths of her soul.
He spoke slowly, his tone carrying an undeniable firmness. "I've made it clear. For the next two weeks, you need to stay here, and I'll take care of you. As for your resistance, that's just a matter of time. I believe we can find a way to coexist that works for both of us."
Anna gripped the tube of ointment tightly, her fingers turning white from the pressure, as if it were her only support at the moment. She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself. "Fine, but get out now."
Caleb raised an eyebrow, seemingly surprised by her concession, but he didn't leave immediately. He looked at her, a complex emotion flickering in his eyes. "Are you sure you can manage? I don't want you to make your injury worse by being stubborn."
Anna clenched her teeth, holding back tears. "Get out. I don't need your fake concern."
Caleb sighed, looking somewhat helpless, but he eventually stood up and moved to the side. "Alright, you do it yourself. But remember, if you need anything, just let me know."
Anna lowered her head and began to carefully apply the ointment. The cool sensation brought her a bit of comfort, but the pain in her heart was hard to soothe. She knew that this two-week captivity was just the beginning, and she had to find a way to escape.
Caleb didn't leave the room; he just moved a bit further away, his eyes occasionally glancing at her.
His heart was filled with complex emotions, a mix of guilt and tenderness for her, as well as frustration and self-reproach for his actions. He knew what he was doing was wrong, but he couldn't convince himself to let go. His obsession with Anna had become a fixation.
The room fell into a brief silence, with only the faint sound of the ointment being applied echoing in the air.
Anna tried to stay calm, not letting her anger and humiliation cloud her judgment.
She knew that the most important thing now was to find a way to escape, not to get entangled with him here.
Finally, she finished applying the ointment and placed it back on the nightstand. She looked up at Caleb, her eyes filled with determination. "I won't submit to you, no matter what."
Caleb smiled slightly, seemingly admiring her stubbornness. "I'll be watching."
But his eyes still revealed a hint of worry and concern. He knew that this battle had just begun, and no one could predict the outcome.
In the evening, a slightly plump middle-aged woman hurried into the room with a bowl of steaming porridge, followed closely by Caleb.
The woman carefully placed the porridge on the nightstand, her eyes showing concern and pity, but she said nothing.
Anna was curled up on the bed, her face pale and her expression haggard, clearly not fully recovered from the fright of the previous night.
Caleb stood nearby, his gaze soft as he watched Anna. He wanted to reach out and gently pat her back to comfort her, but he hesitated and lowered his hand.
In the end, he simply moved a box of tissues within her reach, his voice low and gentle. "This is Brielle. She'll take care of your meals and daily needs. Just tell her what you want to eat, and she'll prepare it for you."
Anna's emotions were extremely complicated at the moment. She had no appetite, and the porridge in front of her was just a decoration.
Her emotions were like waves on the sea, sometimes turbulent, sometimes calm, and hard to grasp. She ignored Caleb's words, as if the whole world had nothing to do with her anymore.
Anna had only one thought in her mind: she wanted him to leave as soon as possible. She didn't want to see him or any other man ever again.
However, Caleb seemed oblivious to her resistance, or he chose to ignore it.
The next day, when he appeared at the door again, Anna mustered the courage to make a request. "I need to contact Bella. She must be worried sick about me. I can't let her stay anxious like this. And since I have to stay here for a while, I can't let her worry."
Caleb's eyes showed a flicker of complex emotions. He was silent for a moment, seemingly weighing something, and finally nodded. "I can let you contact her, but you must promise not to reveal your current situation and location. That's my bottom line."
Anna was overjoyed and quickly agreed. She knew this was her only chance to connect with the outside world, and she had to seize it.
So, under Caleb's arrangement, she was finally able to call Bella. On the other end, Bella's voice was choked with sobs, clearly having been worried for a long time. Anna tried to stay calm, using a light tone to assure Bella that she was fine, just dealing with some things, and would be back in a few days.
After hanging up, Anna's emotions were in turmoil. She knew Bella must have realized she was kidnapped by Caleb. She just wanted Bella to know she was safe, or Bella would worry herself sick.
Caleb casually took off his suit jacket and draped it over the edge of the bed, his movements relaxed and unrestrained.
"I've already contacted them. They know you're with me, and they won't be able to find you."
Caleb's voice was deep and powerful, each word carrying an irresistible force, but to Anna, it sounded like the whisper of a demon.
He then took a beautifully bound book from his briefcase, his eyes showing a hint of tenderness. "I brought you some books. There are more outside; I'll have Brielle bring them in later. You can read them when you're bored. I know you don't like reading, but these are interesting. Maybe they'll change your mind about books."
Anna looked at him coldly, sensing a dangerous vibe in his eyes.
