Chapter 188 He Doesn't Trust Me Anymore
At this moment, Anna also woke up and immediately asked with concern, "Bella, you're awake. How are you feeling?"
Bella shook her head and said, "Water."
Anna quickly poured Bella a glass of water and helped her sit up.
Just as she was about to give it to Bella, Sterling snatched the glass away, his tone slightly cold, "The water is cold. I'll get some warm water."
Sterling took the glass and walked out.
Seeing Sterling's expression, Bella looked at Anna in confusion. Anna, knowing exactly why Sterling was acting so strangely, just sighed.
The truth was too cruel for Bella, but since Bella had just woken up, she didn't want to say anything.
But seeing the pleading look in Bella's eyes, Anna reluctantly lowered her head and recounted what had happened.
After hearing Anna's words, Bella felt a nerve in her brain snap.
Bella's eyes widened, and she couldn't recover for a long time. Her voice trembled, "Micah? No, wasn't it James?"
Before Anna could speak, Sterling suddenly appeared at the door with the glass, "James?"
Anna thought, 'This is bad.'
Bella looked at Sterling in disbelief, then turned to Anna, "What's going on?"
Anna was also confused, "I want to ask you the same thing. What's going on? When we found you, you were lying with Micah. How does James fit into this?"
Sterling strode to the bedside and grabbed Bella's arm, "What do you mean by James? Were you really with James before Micah?"
Bella was frightened by Sterling's tone and gaze. Looking at Sterling, she suddenly couldn't speak.
Sterling rarely lost his temper in front of others, and Anna was also startled. It took a long time before she heard Bella mumble, "No, I wasn't."
Bella suddenly didn't know how to explain, and her hesitation made Sterling think she was trying to protect both James and Micah.
Sterling couldn't control his temper and smashed the glass on the ground. The glass shattered instantly, scaring both Bella and Anna.
Bella was so shocked it felt like her soul had left her body. Tears welled up in her eyes as she painfully said, "Sterling, please believe me."
Sterling looked at Bella, his eyes filled with disappointment, anger, and frustration, which eventually turned into self-blame and then calmness.
Various emotions mixed together as he clenched his fists and turned to leave without hesitation.
Tears streamed down Bella's face as she looked at Anna, her eyes full of helplessness, "He doesn't believe me. He doesn't believe me anymore."
Seeing the sadness in Bella's eyes, Anna hugged her and said, "No, he won't. He just can't accept it right now."
Not just Sterling, Anna herself couldn't accept what she saw at that moment.
The image of Bella and Micah lying together was so bizarre that Anna couldn't wrap her head around it. She patted Bella's back and said, "Sterling will figure it out."
Bella leaned on Anna's shoulder, sobbing as if she couldn't catch her breath.
Later, Bella slowly told Anna what had happened. Anna was incredulous, "You mean you went to rest in a room, someone drugged you and took you to James's bed? Then you escaped only to be knocked out and taken to Micah's bed?"
Anna could hardly believe her ears. Hearing about Bella's ordeal made her heart ache.
She said, "Bella, get some rest. Don't think too much. Sterling will figure it out. It's not your fault; you were framed."
Bella knew she had been framed. But she was afraid Sterling wouldn't believe her.
The things she had feared had come true; it was just a fleeting dream. Now, Sterling had shattered that dream, and she felt like her insides were being torn apart.
"No, he won't believe me anymore." Bella cried as if she wanted to cry out all the tears in her body.
Anna didn't know what to say to comfort Bella, so she just cried with her.
Bella didn't know if Sterling would ever believe her again, but this incident had completely pushed their relationship into a deep abyss.
Bella stayed in the hospital for three days, and Sterling didn't visit once. He only sent Zoey to take care of her.
Bella knew that her relationship with Sterling had reverted to what it was before.
Sterling wouldn't believe her anymore. She thought Sterling must hate her now, hate her for ruining his friendship with Micah.
When Bella was discharged, it was Zoey and Ryan who came to pick her up.
She wanted to ask why Sterling hadn't come, but she thought, if Sterling didn't want to come himself, what was the point of asking?
When Bella returned to The Windsor Villa, she found that Sterling wasn't there. Zoey told her that Sterling hadn't been back for three days.
Bella didn't know if Sterling was doing it on purpose or if he was really busy. She didn't have much appetite and went back to her room.
That night, Sterling didn't come back, but the next morning, Bella saw him in the dining room.
He was sitting at the table as usual, with Sunny rubbing against his feet. He didn't kick Sunny away, but his face still looked bad.
Bella thought he must have slept in the guest room last night. She wanted to explain to him but didn't know where to start.
During breakfast, Sterling and Bella sat at the same table, but neither of them spoke. They quietly ate their breakfast.
Bella had no appetite and only drank a few sips of porridge. She occasionally glanced at Sterling, but he kept his eyes straight ahead, eating his breakfast quietly and elegantly.
Feeling disheartened, Bella lowered her head.
After finishing his breakfast, Sterling silently turned and went upstairs.
Bella thought for a moment. Their relationship shouldn't be like this, so she turned and followed him.
Sterling was busy with something in the study. When Bella pushed the door open, Sterling didn't give her a good look and just said, "Get out. I'm busy."
Bella knew Sterling was sulking, but she didn't give up because of his cold attitude.
After mentally preparing herself, Bella finally looked up and said, "Sterling, don't you believe me anymore?"
Sterling didn't stop what he was doing, his tone cold, "Does my belief matter?"
Bella was provoked by Sterling's words and coldly questioned, "What do you mean? Do you really think there's something between me and Micah? He's your friend. If you don't believe me, don't you believe him either?"
Sterling had heard this the most in recent times, and now hearing it from Bella made him furious.
