Chapter 387 Father and Daughter Cause Trouble
Anna was moved by Bella's sudden burst of emotion, and her eyes welled up with tears. She gently patted Bella's back and said, "Hey, Bella, don't be like this. Growing up is tough, but those challenges aren't pointless. They make us stronger, more mature, and teach us to appreciate the people and things around us."
She paused for a moment before continuing, "Bella, what you've lost and what you're going through are all part of life's journey. We spend our whole lives learning how to let go."
Bella gradually calmed down under Anna's comforting words.
The next morning, sunlight streamed through the gaps in the curtains, filling every corner of the bakery. Thanks to Anna's insistence, the bakery opened as usual, as if nothing had happened the day before.
However, Bella seemed a bit listless. Despite her efforts to appear normal, the fatigue and helplessness emanating from her heart were hard to hide.
Her movements while making pastries were no longer as smooth and rhythmic as before, and her eyes lacked the focus and passion they once had.
Anna noticed this and felt anxious. She knew that Bella had found out about the connection to her own issues, and it had hit her hard. Bella needed time to recover, and Anna didn't know what to do.
Around ten in the morning, the bakery was filled with a warm atmosphere, and customers were enjoying delicious pastries, chatting away.
But this tranquility was soon shattered by a sudden burst of anger.
Dash stormed into the bakery with Debra, who had a face full of bruises. Their arrival felt like a cold wind, dropping the temperature in the room.
Dash dragged Debra in front of Isadora, his eyes filled with rage and resentment. "Did you people beat up my daughter? A whole group of you bullying one girl? Is there no justice? I'm calling the police!"
His voice echoed through the bakery, drawing the attention of other customers. Isadora, though burning with anger inside, tried to remain calm and composed, considering the other customers present.
"Are you sure it was us? We have our side of the story and evidence. Before jumping to conclusions, please don't make accusations."
Dash's face turned even darker. "Evidence? My daughter's injuries are evidence! Don't think you can deny it!"
Isadora took a deep breath, trying to keep her tone even. "We have no intention of denying anything. But before we go further, do you know what your daughter did?"
Debra stood by, her body covered in bruises, but her eyes were filled with defiance and resentment. She tried to speak, but Dash shot her a fierce glare, forcing her to shut her mouth.
The atmosphere in the bakery grew tense, and customers began whispering among themselves. Isadora knew that if this wasn't handled properly, it could cause trouble for the bakery.
Dash was determined to stand up for his daughter, his voice echoing through the bakery, filled with anger and resentment.
He turned to the remaining customers and shouted, "Listen up, this place is a scam! Yesterday, my daughter came to buy pastries and was beaten up for no reason, and they even locked the door to do it! Do you dare come to a place like this? Aren't you afraid you'll get beaten up too?"
The customers didn't leave because of Dash's shouting; instead, they watched the father and daughter like a spectacle. They were regulars at the bakery and knew Bella and the others well enough to not easily believe Dash's words.
Seeing no one paying attention to him, Dash's face turned red with anger, as if all the blood in his body had rushed to his face. He shouted again, "Bring Bella out! I want to teach that brat a lesson today!"
His voice echoed through the bakery, filled with provocation and threat. Anna's anger flared up instantly upon hearing "brat."
She retorted sharply, "Say that again? Who's the brat here? Your Debra is the one acting like a lawless brat! Bella has been well-raised, taught personally by Sterling. Who dares say she wasn't raised right? If you have the guts, go question Sterling about how he raised Bella. What kind of skill is it to challenge us here? Keep shouting, and I'll really call the police to sort this out!"
As soon as Anna finished speaking, the atmosphere in the bakery grew even more tense. Dash's face turned ashen; he hadn't expected such a strong counterattack from a casual remark. He looked at Anna, his eyes filled with anger and resentment.
The customers watched the scene unfold, some with surprised expressions, others whispering among themselves. They hadn't expected the conflict to be so intense.
Dash looked at Anna and Bella, filled with frustration and anger. He knew that continuing to argue was pointless. He could only glare at them fiercely.
Bella, busy in the kitchen, heard the commotion outside and put down her work, resolutely walking out. Her eyes were calm and determined, ready to face any challenge.
"Dash," she said, her tone carrying a hint of impatience, "the only connection between us is Mira. If you really want to resolve this, call her and ask how to handle it. I don't want to endlessly argue with you and your daughter here; it makes me sick."
Dash looked at Bella, a flicker of guilt in his eyes. He had lied to Mira about being abroad with Debra, but now, driven by anger over Debra's beating, he had forgotten the lie. Realizing the situation had escalated, he knew that if Bella told Mira, his lie would be exposed.
Dash took a deep breath, trying to calm himself, but his tone still carried anger and resentment. "You have no manners! I'm an elder; I won't hit you, but I just want an explanation. You beat Debra, so you should pay for her medical expenses!"
Bella couldn't help but laugh coldly. She looked at Dash, her eyes filled with disdain and mockery. "How ridiculous! Debra started the provocation and hit people first, and now you're asking us for medical expenses? Who do you think you are?"
Bella's gaze swept over Dash and Debra like icy blades, her tone firm and unwavering. "So, you're still after the house and money Mira gave me? I wasn't planning to keep them, thinking they were just material things, but since you're so desperate to snatch them..."
