Chapter 291 Searching
Debra's eyes were puffy from crying, her voice shaky as she asked, "What do you want from me? You found me, gave me money, and told me to hire people to go after Bella. It's not my fault they grabbed the wrong person. Why are you doing this to me?"
Caleb lowered his head slightly, a mocking smile playing on his lips, his tone dripping with disdain. "Yeah, I sent you because I knew you hated Bella, but you didn't have the means to pull it off. I just wanted to guide you, using you to get what I wanted. Do you know why you lost to Bella?"
"It's because you're not smart enough. You're too dumb! You had the photos, yet you still grabbed the wrong person. They didn't know Bella, but didn't you? Do you know who you captured? That was the woman I love! Now, tell me, why shouldn't I treat you like this?"
Debra finally realized the gravity of her mistake. She knelt at his feet, tears streaming down her face, pleading, "I know I messed up. Please, let me go. I really regret it. Please, let me go."
Caleb mercilessly kicked her away, his voice cold. "This isn't something that can be easily forgiven. I'll have someone send you to work as a prostitute. The pay is high, and it's just right for you."
Debra's face turned pale, her whole being seemed drained of life. She trembled as she refused, "No, I don't want to go. I'm not that kind of person!"
Caleb's laughter echoed in the silent night, like a demon from hell. "I know, you used to be the Foster family's princess. Suddenly becoming a 'prostitute' is hard to get used to. Don't worry, you'll get used to it over time."
Anna hadn't returned home, and Bella found it very strange. She immediately called Anna, but her phone was off.
Bella couldn't wait any longer. She rushed out to search everywhere but still couldn't find any trace of Anna. As time passed, Bella realized something bad might have happened.
In this situation, Bella knew she couldn't ask Sterling for help. After thinking for a long time, she decided to take a cab to the Whitewater Bay villa area, hoping Colin could help her. She believed Colin would definitely help her find Anna.
By the time she arrived at Whitewater Bay, it was already late at night. The lights in Colin's house were off. Bella rang the doorbell, silently praying that Colin was just asleep and hadn't gone out.
Bella's heart was filled with anxiety, hoping Colin would appear in time to help her out of this predicament. After about five minutes of continuous ringing, the door finally opened slowly.
Colin, in his pajamas, looked at her with sleepy eyes, a hint of surprise in his voice. "What are you doing here?"
Bella's voice was choked with sobs, sounding helpless. "Anna. Anna went out to buy some wine and hasn't come back. I've been looking for her for hours and can't find her. I had no choice but to come to you."
Hearing about Anna's disappearance, Colin was instantly wide awake. He quickly gathered his thoughts and said firmly, "Wait here, I'll get the car keys!"
Colin immediately thought of Caleb. Anna's disappearance could only be related to Caleb. He cursed Caleb under his breath, wondering what he was up to.
They drove around Anna's neighborhood countless times until dawn began to break. Colin finally said, "We should call the police."
The police were also looking for Caleb. With their help, they should be able to find him quickly.
Bella broke down in tears. "Did you know about the things Sterling did?"
Seeing Colin's silence, Bella felt even worse. Anna's disappearance was her fault. If it weren't for her, Anna wouldn't have gone out to buy wine.
"Bella, now's not the time to talk about this," Colin sighed.
The priority was to find Anna. He took out his phone and was about to dial the police when a message from Sterling popped up: Anna is with Caleb.
Colin's heart skipped a beat. He immediately drove towards the Windsor Villa. They needed to meet Sterling and figure this out.
Noticing the change in direction, Bella panicked. "Where are we going?"
Colin replied honestly, "Sterling told me Anna is with Caleb. Since he knows, we need to discuss our next steps with him. I know you might not want to see him, but don't you care about Anna's safety?"
Bella was overwhelmed with emotions and couldn't respond. She didn't know how to face Sterling, but if something happened to Anna, she would never forgive herself.
They soon arrived at the Windsor Villa. Colin noticed Bella hesitating to get out of the car and sighed. "Come on, I know things are complicated between you two, but we can't ignore Anna. Let's go inside."
Bella still didn't have the courage to go in. She hesitated and said softly, "You go ahead. Please take care of Anna. I'll wait here."
Colin didn't force her. He understood Bella's complex feelings. He nodded and walked into the Windsor Villa. As he entered, he immediately saw Sterling sitting on the couch.
Sterling was still in the same clothes from the previous day, clearly having spent the night there without sleep. He looked exhausted, with stubble shadowing his jaw.
Colin quickly approached Sterling, his voice urgent. "Sterling, what's going on? Why did Caleb take Anna?"
Given Caleb's character, it didn't make sense for him to openly kidnap Anna.
Sterling shifted slightly, his usually sharp eyes now dull. He spoke slowly, his voice weary. "Anna is with Caleb. He made it clear that if we call the police, there will be consequences, but he promised not to hurt her. In this situation, calling the police isn't wise. Caleb is capable of anything."
"I suggest we use all our resources to find her instead of involving the police. If we call them, Caleb will know immediately, putting us at a disadvantage. As for why he took her, I don't know yet."
