Chapter 277 Escape

Sterling had just tucked Bella into bed when his phone rang. It was Ryan.

"What? How did he get away?" Sterling whispered, stepping out of the room, but Bella still overheard.

Escape? Who escaped, Caleb?

Bella got out of bed and listened to Sterling on the phone.

"Get everyone together to search for him. I don't care what the cops think, we need to find him before they do. Head back to Harborvale. Okay, once things are set here, we'll leave tomorrow."

Sterling hung up and turned to see Bella standing behind him. He immediately softened his tone. "Why are you up? I told you to rest."

Bella said, "Caleb escaped, didn't he? Will he go after Anna?"

Sterling reassured her, "No, don't worry. We've got people watching Anna. If he goes after her, we'll know."

But Bella was still uneasy. "Are we going back to Harborvale?"

Sterling nodded. "Yeah, I'll make arrangements. We'll head back tomorrow afternoon."

"What about Colin? Can he travel?" Bella was concerned about Colin's injury.

"He can. The private jet has top-notch medical facilities. He can come with us, and the medical care in Harborvale is better than here," Sterling explained.

"I'll call Anna," Bella said, heading back to her room to make the call, but she couldn't get through.

Bella grew anxious and wanted to go to the hotel to find Anna. She knew Anna wouldn't easily forgive her this time.

Bella felt guilty for keeping secrets from Anna, but now that things had escalated, how could she fix it?

Soon, Bella received news that Anna had already boarded a flight back to Harborvale.

"What? Anna went back? Why so quickly? She didn't even tell me," Bella said, fear creeping in.

She was terrified that Anna would never speak to her again.

Sterling comforted her, "It's okay. Everyone made mistakes. I'll go with you to apologize to her. Now, let's go to the hospital and inform Colin. We'll head back to Harborvale this afternoon."

Colin had been rushed to the hospital in the early hours.

Fortunately, as Sterling had predicted, the bullet had only hit his shoulder blade. With his physical condition, he'd recover in about two weeks.

Meanwhile, Micah was working with the police to track down Caleb.

Caleb had managed to slip away from the Windsor Villa, using the cover of night and heavy rain to escape the guards.

No one expected Caleb to be so cunning. After all, he had been in the game for years and likely had people waiting to help him outside the villa.

Once Caleb was out, finding him again would be like searching for a needle in a haystack.

Colin lay in his hospital bed, frustrated. "Damn it, I got shot, and he still got away."

"Don't worry. He won't be on the run for long," Sterling said calmly.

"How's Anna?" Colin asked.

Bella quickly replied, "She went back to Harborvale."

Colin struggled to sit up. "What? Why'd she leave?"

Bella lowered her head, unsure how to respond. Sterling stepped in, "We're heading back to Harborvale this afternoon. Can you manage?"

"No problem. I need to go back," Colin insisted.

"Alright, I'll arrange the private jet."

Micah and the police would handle things here and continue the search for Caleb.

But Sterling was more concerned about Caleb's parting words: "This isn't over."

Sterling glanced at Bella, pondering Caleb's words. Did he have another plan in place?

That afternoon, they boarded the private jet to Harborvale.

Bella watched the plane taxi down the runway, her emotions in turmoil.

They had left as a group of five, but now they were returning as three, with one seriously injured. What had they even accomplished?

Bella looked at Sterling. He had promised a vacation, but it had been a cover for capturing Caleb.

She wanted to blame him, but she couldn't. Sterling had done it for the Windsor family, to bring Caleb to justice. But the only person truly hurt was Anna, her only friend.

Bella had insisted that Anna not be harmed, but they had failed.

Now, Bella herself had hurt Anna. Would Anna ever forgive her?

Bella's anxiety grew. Why had things turned out this way?

Sterling, noticing Bella's silence, held her hand. "Don't worry. Anna won't stay mad at you for long. Remember how quickly she bounced back after the Powell family's downfall? She'll get through this too."

Bella shook her head. "You don't understand. Anna may seem tough, but she's sensitive. She gets scared and angry. I lied to her for so long. She won't forgive me easily."

"And she won't forgive me either," Colin added, lying on his seat with a look of sorrow.

Colin had hoped Anna would eventually learn the truth about Caleb. But now that everything was out in the open, he realized Anna was the only one truly hurt.

Anna was the only innocent party in all of this. She had done nothing wrong but was hurt by Caleb and everyone else.

They disembarked in silence. Colin was quickly taken to the hospital by the Rivera family.

Bella and Sterling returned to the Windsor Villa.

Zoey was thrilled to see them but noticed Bella's expression. "What's wrong, Mrs. Windsor? You look more exhausted than when you left."

Bella forced a smile. Sterling said, "Zoey, could you make something light and easy to digest? Bring it to the room later."

Sensing the tension, Zoey quickly agreed. "Sure, I'll get right on it."

Sterling led Bella to their room. "Bella, if you're really worried about Anna, I'll go with you to apologize. Okay?"

Just then, Bella's phone rang. She looked at the screen, surprised. "It's Anna. She's calling me."

Sterling smiled. "See? She's not mad at you. Go ahead, answer it."

Sterling ruffled her hair and left the room, giving her privacy to talk.
