Chapter 456 Micah's Return

When Bella heard Colin's words, a blush crept across her face, and she shot Colin a fierce glare.

But Bella felt something strange within herself. On the surface, she seemed to hate it when they teased her about Sterling,

yet deep down, she couldn't deny that she didn't really dislike these jokes. This conflicting feeling made her feel somewhat irritated, and she couldn't understand why she had such complicated emotions about these jokes.

Just as Bella was lost in her thoughts, suddenly, Colin's phone rang broke the silence.

As soon as Anna heard the phone ring, she went on high alert. She looked at Colin curiously, her eyes full of gossip-hungry gleam. "Who's calling? Don't tell me it's some woman?"

Colin smiled helplessly and simply pulled out his phone, showing it to her openly: "It's Micah. I'll put it on speaker, okay? So you won't start imagining things again."

Colin pressed the answer button and turned on the speaker. Micah's voice came through the phone.

"Where are you guys hanging out? I saw you weren't at the hotel. I'm here in town to take care of some business, just arrived in the city. Aren't you going to treat me to a meal?" Micah's voice carried a hint of teasing and expectation.

Hearing this, Anna's eyes quickly swept over the barbecue on the table, and she couldn't help feeling a bit hesitant. Micah had a sensitive stomach, everyone knew that.

With this kind of greasy food that might contain spicy seasonings, there was no guarantee he wouldn't have problems after eating it. But Colin didn't worry about all that. He said into the phone with a laugh: "We're having barbecue. The place is a bit out of the way, but the food is amazing! Are you coming or not? Don't regret it if you don't come!" After saying this, he gave the address without hesitation and then hung up.

Twenty minutes later, Micah rushed over, still wearing a neat suit that looked somewhat out of place in the street food stall environment.

There was a hint of disdain in Micah's eyes, clearly in his view, there wasn't much difference between a street food stall and a roadside stand.

However, since his good friends were all here, he just frowned slightly, said nothing, and found a seat to sit down.

"You all came here, and I'm bored to death alone in Harborvale. I can't even find anyone to drink with." Micah started complaining as soon as he sat down.

Hearing this, Sterling immediately picked up the bottle and poured Micah a drink. He smiled and said: "How's your company doing lately?"

Micah took the glass and took a small sip. He sighed and said: "Don't even mention it. The company did take on a big project recently, but we're short-handed. I'm so busy I can barely breathe. I came here to handle some business and stopped by to see you guys. I didn't expect you'd be hiding here eating barbecue."

Colin chimed in from the side: "You call this 'stopping by'? I think you came specifically to find us. But seriously, your company really should hire some people, otherwise at this rate, you'll work yourself to death sooner or later."

In the end, Micah ate some barbecue and successfully landed himself in the hospital.

By the time they got Micah settled in the hospital, it was already past nine at night. Micah lay in the hospital bed, his face slightly pale, but after treatment, his stomach pain had lessened considerably.

However, after all this trouble, he also looked extremely worn out, as if all his energy had been drained from him.

Sterling and Colin stood by the bed, looking at Micah in this state, feeling both worried and unable to help but smile helplessly.

The two of them were quite familiar with Micah's physical condition - this wasn't the first time this had happened.

"You didn't come to have a meal with us, you came to scam us, right?" Colin said half-jokingly.

Hearing their jokes, Micah managed to squeeze out a weak smile. He knew he'd caused trouble for everyone again, and couldn't help feeling guilty. He said softly: "Sorry, I'll never eat that stuff again."

"That's what you said last time," Sterling and Colin exchanged helpless smiles.

Micah had no one to take care of him here, and he refused to hire a nurse. Finally, Bella and Anna both thought of a suitable person at the same time.

Serafina.

After getting Micah and Serafina's agreement, Bella called Serafina. After all, Serafina was very experienced at taking care of people, so taking care of Micah as a patient would definitely be no problem.

After arranging everything for Micah at the hospital, the four of them finally prepared to leave. The night was deep, and the city lights flickered in the distance. Bella rolled down the car window to let the night breeze in.

Anna and Colin were naturally staying at the hotel, but when Anna's gaze turned to Bella, she noticed that Bella wasn't going the same way as them.

At this moment, a bold idea arose in Anna's mind. With a playful and probing tone, she said: "Why don't you not go back tonight, Bella?"

Hearing this, Bella immediately glared at Anna and retorted: "If I don't go back, should I sleep between you and Colin?"

Colin, sitting in the passenger seat, couldn't help but cough awkwardly twice. He turned to look out the window, trying to hide his embarrassment.

The car suddenly shook violently. Sterling in the driver's seat was clearly venting his displeasure through this action.

Anna naturally understood that Bella was just joking. She smiled with pursed lips, her eyes showing a hint of mischief, and said weakly: "If you really want to, it's not impossible, but the key is Sterling wouldn't agree. He'd definitely be jealous."

Hearing this, Bella pretended to be angry and lightly tapped her on the head, saying reproachfully: "Shut up! Stop making jokes like that. Drop me off at the apartment complex entrance first, then you guys go back to the hotel."

However, Sterling remained silent throughout, as if he hadn't heard their conversation at all. He focused on driving, his gaze firmly fixed ahead, his face expressionless.

This left both Anna and Bella unable to figure out what he was thinking.

When the car was about to reach Bella's apartment complex, Bella reminded them again: "Just stop here, I can walk in myself."

However, Sterling showed no intention of stopping. He continued driving and went straight back to the hotel.

Bella didn't think much of it - at worst, she'd just take a taxi back later. However, after Anna and Colin got out of the car, Sterling unexpectedly locked the car doors and looked at her with gentle but firm eyes, saying: "I'll take you."

She was slightly stunned. He could have dropped her off first, so why did he have to take her separately? But on second thought, since he wanted to take her, she was too lazy to make a fuss. After all, after playing all afternoon and going to the hospital, she was indeed a bit tired.

So she nodded slightly, accepting his suggestion. The car started again and slowly drove toward her apartment.

On the way back to the apartment, Bella didn't plan to have much conversation with Sterling. She closed her eyes, trying to relax.
