Chapter 206 Out of Danger

Bella couldn't care less about stock prices right now; she just felt like her eardrums had been violently shaken, with the echo lingering.

All she caught was him saying something about a truck.

Colin continued, "His condition is still unclear, so Bella, don't worry yet."

"His personal safety is closely tied to the Windsor Group's stock price, so for now, the Windsor Group is keeping the news under wraps."

"Plus, the Windsor Group's medical team won't let anything happen to him."

Bella's expression was one of bewilderment. She thought, 'Sterling has Ryan and countless bodyguards protecting him. How could anything happen to him?'

She couldn't accept such an accident, forgetting that in a car crash, it doesn't matter how many people are around; in the face of a major accident, the human body is always the most fragile.

Micah took a deep breath and said, "It rained today. His car crashed into a truck on the highway after leaving the Windsor Group."

"It might have been due to the slippery roads. There were shards of glass from the car and blood that hadn't been washed away at the scene."

"Enough," Anna interrupted Micah.

"Can't you see Bella's face getting worse? Are you telling a children's story? Do you have to describe it so vividly?"

Micah realized he was just stating the facts without considering Bella's feelings.

He immediately apologized, "I'm sorry, Bella. Don't worry, everything will be fine. Sterling is so strong; death won't take him."

Bella's expression went blank for a few seconds, then her hands started to tremble. She said, "Where's Ryan? Why isn't Ryan here?"

Tears suddenly fell from Bella's eyes without warning. She couldn't believe that Ryan, with his driving skills, could have an accident.

Colin lowered his voice and said, "I called Ryan. He wasn't driving today; someone deliberately sent him away. The driver today has already been detained."

The entire Windsor Group's upper management was in a state of panic, fearing for Sterling's safety, while some feared he might survive.

Bella felt her heart sinking continuously. She looked at the still-lit emergency room light, feeling that Sterling's condition was very bad.

Bella suddenly felt very guilty. Why didn't she come to him earlier? Why did she come to him on a rainy day? Her tears flowed even more uncontrollably.

Anna had never seen Bella with such an expression, a mix of despair and hope.

It seemed all her wishes were pinned on hearing from the doctor that Sterling was okay.

Bella's face was pale, and she swayed. Anna immediately supported her.

"Bella, you're still pregnant. Wait and see what the doctor says. Don't think the worst. You mustn't collapse."

Mentioning the child, Bella suddenly felt dizzy, as if her head was being violently shaken in a washing machine.

Her vision went black, and she suddenly turned to the side, covering her mouth, and started to vomit.

Bella paused for a few seconds, then couldn't stop vomiting, as if she wanted to empty her stomach completely.

Anna immediately said, "Quick, get some water and tissues. Bella, are you okay? Don't scare me. You still have the baby; you mustn't have anything happen."

Anna was also in tears.

Bella, experiencing Sterling's car accident for the first time, felt like she could smell the blood on Sterling, mixed with water and rain, flowing everywhere.

She gagged again and vomited, along with her tears.

Anna quickly took the water and tissues and helped Bella to the bathroom.

"Bella, you mustn't have anything happen. I'm scared."

Two hours later, the light in the operating room finally went out. Bella stood up immediately, weak from vomiting but still holding on, asking, "How is he?"

Will Evans, the best doctor in the Windsor Group's medical team and Sterling's best friend, knew them well.

Will took off his mask and smiled, "He's lucky. His condition is stable for now, out of danger. He has a head injury and is still unconscious."

"His left chest bone was fractured and has been surgically repaired. His right chest bone is severely displaced. He'll need a hundred days to recover from these injuries."

"As long as he wakes up, these external injuries will heal with proper care."

Anna immediately said, "See, the doctor said he's fine. Bella, you can relax now."

But how could Bella relax? She found it terrifying. Fractured chest bones, displacement—how could these terms apply to Sterling?

"Thank you, Will," Colin and Micah each patted Will on the shoulder.

"Just doing my job. I have to get back to work."

As soon as Will left, Bella looked at Colin and Micah, "Was this really just a simple car accident?"

Bella didn't believe it.

Micah and Colin were silent. Even Bella could see that the accident wasn't just an accident, so what reason did they have not to suspect?

Colin said, "Bella, don't worry. We've already arranged for an investigation into the accident. Ryan immediately detained the driver."

"The driver is also seriously injured, and bodyguards are closely guarding him in the hospital. Rest assured, we won't let the culprit get away."

Anna listened to their conversation, feeling terrified. "Why? Why would someone cause an accident? What's the motive?"

Colin and Micah exchanged a glance. They knew it was Caleb targeting Sterling, but they tacitly didn't say it, perhaps because Colin didn't want to say it in front of Anna.

When Sterling was transferred to the ICU, Bella insisted on following.

Anna had to help Bella to a chair in the hallway, persuading her, "Bella, Sterling is out of danger now. He just needs to wake up. Your most important task now is to take care of the baby. You mustn't have anything happen to you, understand?"

Bella's face was ashen. She knew she should take better care of herself, but how could she not worry?

The news of Sterling's accident couldn't be hidden from the people at Windsor Villa.

When Zoey arrived and saw Bella, she cried out of sympathy. She didn't know whether to feel sorry for Bella or Sterling first.

Zoey, learning that Bella was pregnant, felt both happy and sad. "Mrs. Windsor, you should move back. Look at how much weight you've lost in a month."

"How can you properly take care of the baby like this? Come back, and I'll make you something good to eat."

Anna pouted and said, "Zoey, are you saying I didn't take good care of Bella?"

Zoey wiped her tears and scolded, "What are you talking about? I'm just worried about Mrs. Windsor. Look at how pale she is."

Seeing Zoey made Bella feel much more at ease. Zoey was like half a family member to her.

"Okay, I'll move back today. I shouldn't have been mad at Sterling. It's all my fault."

As Bella spoke, tears fell uncontrollably again.
