Chapter 176 Scheming Again
Anna was right. Since they could only be friends, they shouldn't cross the boundaries of friendship.
Colin thought to himself, since they could only interact as friends for now, then he would just be friends with her.
From that day on, Colin and Anna's relationship seemed to return to what it was before—neither too close nor too distant, very plain.
Neither of them mentioned that night again, nor did they bring up that moment that made their hearts flutter.
It was as if everyone had forgotten, but Anna thought it was best to forget, best never to bring it up again.
But only Colin knew in his heart that Anna was no longer just a friend to him.
Meanwhile, the Hughes family was in chaos.
Ollie and Elijah had been beaten into the hospital, and Liam seemed to have aged ten years overnight, listless and exhausted, silently venting his anger at home.
However, this did not quell his inner rage. Liam's hatred for Micah had reached a new level.
Ollie and Elijah had been in the hospital for almost a week, and they couldn't swallow this anger.
After being discharged, the first thing they did was find Liam and hold another family meeting.
Liam said, "Last time, we didn't cause any harm to Micah, nor did we make Micah and Sterling turn against each other. It seems their relationship isn't something a small contract can break. Ollie, do you have any ideas?"
Ollie, hearing Liam's words, suddenly had an evil thought and said, "I noticed that Sterling seemed to care a lot about his wife that day. Since the contract can't make Sterling resent Micah, let's use his wife in our plan."
Elijah snorted and said, "Don't mess with these shady tactics. Haven't you learned your lesson from last time? You still dare to scheme against Sterling? Aren't you afraid of being beaten into the hospital again?"
Ollie glared at him viciously, "Whose bad idea was it last time? If you're going to do something, do it cleanly. How could Micah have found out if you hadn't left evidence?"
They had indeed underestimated the relationship between Micah and Sterling last time.
Elijah was also angry now, "Dad, it was you who told Ollie to do it last time. Now Clara, that bitch, betrayed us, and Ollie wants to blame me. This was Ollie's fault from the start. You trusted him last time because you're biased towards him."
Liam, hearing Elijah's words, almost wanted to hit him with a cane, "All you do is argue. Can you do something right for once? Everyone was at fault last time. What unreliable ideas did you come up with? This time, even if we can't take down Sterling, we must make Sterling and Micah turn against each other and teach Micah a lesson."
Ollie immediately said, "Dad, since we can't secure the Windsor family's cooperation, we don't have to be afraid of offending Sterling. Sterling's wife seems important to him. We'll find someone to kidnap her in Micah's name. Then, Sterling and Micah will surely turn against each other."
Liam, hearing this plan, said, "I'm not so sure about this. After all, if something happens to Sterling's wife, we could be in big trouble."
Ollie said, "Of course, we won't do it ourselves."
Then he looked at Elijah and said, "Don't you know a lot of people in the underworld? This time, it's your job. Now you can't say Dad is biased, right? I've given you the idea; whether it succeeds depends on your ability."
Elijah snorted, "You want me to kidnap Sterling's wife? Ollie, you really are my dear brother. If something goes wrong and someone dies, will you come to the police station to save me?"
Ollie said angrily, "You're really stupid. Did I tell you to do it yourself? Can't you find some reliable people and have outsiders do it? And why would you do it in your name? You need to do it in Micah's name."
Elijah finally showed some intelligence, "But if we do it this way, isn't it obvious to Sterling that the Hughes family did it?"
Liam thought for a moment and said, "So what? Even if Sterling knows, without evidence, what can he do to us? The Hughes family isn't a small family that can be easily bullied. I think this plan can work. Even if we can't make Sterling and Micah turn against each other, there will be conflicts between them. Between a friend and a wife, let's see what Sterling will choose."
The Hughes family discussed the details and finalized the plan, while Bella was unaware that a plot against her was quietly brewing.
Bella had been busy at Micah's new company these days. She didn't expect Micah to have such good connections. As soon as the company was established, orders kept coming in, thanks in part to Sterling and Colin's efforts, which made the establishment of Micah's new company so smooth.
In just over a week, the company had gradually stabilized. Although it wasn't profitable yet, Micah was very happy and very grateful to Bella, so he planned to invite Bella to dinner.
Although it was an invitation to dinner, it was actually Micah's way of thanking Bella. They finally decided on a restaurant at Whitewater Bay, and Sterling, Colin, and Anna all came along.
Micah had also invited Nia, but she was busy planning her world tour and couldn't make it.
The three men, Sterling, Colin, and Micah, were busy discussing company matters. Only Bella and Anna were quietly dining on the side.
Suddenly, Anna received a message. She looked at it and saw it was from the private detective. She immediately gave Bella a look, and Bella instantly understood.
As soon as Bella stood up, Sterling grabbed her and said, "Where are you going?"
Bella snorted, "I'm going to the restroom. Do you need to control that too?"
Then she shook off Sterling's hand. In fact, Bella was bluffing. She rarely did anything behind Sterling's back, so she was a bit scared.
Fortunately, Sterling didn't suspect anything and just smiled, 'Quite the temper.'
Micah teased, "I never thought I'd see the day Sterling gets restrained."
Sterling just smiled without saying anything.
Bella and Anna went to the restroom and immediately opened the email. It was indeed about Beck.
"I didn't expect to get news so quickly. I thought Beck would hide for a while longer. He was found so easily," Bella said softly.
They looked at the email together. It contained a new address for Beck. Anna said, "What do you think? Should we go check it out tomorrow?"
Bella nodded, "Of course, we have to go. It's hard to find a lead on Beck. This time, we must get some information out of him. Otherwise, the trail will go cold, and we might not be able to investigate further. He must know something."
After saying this, Bella leaned against the corridor wall, standing in the shadows with a somewhat desolate expression.
The clues were right in front of her, yet she couldn't seem to grasp them.
