Chapter 99 Best Friends' Friendship

Qiana was lounging on the couch, eyes glued to the TV, and responded guiltily, "Who touched your bank card? What do you think I am?"

Anna was tearing through her bag and every corner of the house. The card was really gone. Besides Qiana, who else could've taken it?

She glared at Qiana. "Mom, if it wasn't you, who else? I need that money back; it's urgent."

Anna was soaked, having just come in from the rain.

Qiana paused, looking guilty. "I haven't even asked you yet. What were you doing out just now? You come back and ask for money? You always say you're broke. Turns out you still have quite a bit in your bank account, huh? What's so urgent? And isn't it our money?"

Anna was losing it. "Give me back the money."

Qiana acted like she didn't hear, eyes still on the TV.

Anna snapped. She grabbed the plate from Qiana's hand and smashed it on the floor, fruit flying everywhere. "Qiana, give me the money."

Seeing Anna was really mad, Qiana hesitated, then reluctantly pulled out the bank card and handed it over. "Isn't it just a bit of money? I only spent a little. Here you go. Look at you, so stingy. I'm your mom. Now you have some money, and you hide it."

Anna was furious. "Qiana, do you even hear yourself? Do you know how hard I worked for that money? I busted my butt with part-time jobs, saving up to buy us a house. Now you're spending my hard-earned cash and still scolding me. Have you ever earned money? Did you raise me? After you married Dad, it was always him making money. Did you ever hold me? Did you ever comfort me?"

She added, "Every time you got money, you went out to have fun. Now that Dad's gone, do you think you're still the old Mrs. Powell?"

Anna didn't want to hear Qiana's cursing anymore. She checked the bank card, only to find it empty.

She broke down in tears.

"Qiana, where did you spend my money? Do you know I need it now?" Anna cried uncontrollably.

Why did things turn out this way?

Ignoring Qiana's cursing, she rushed out of the house.

It was still pouring outside. She ran wildly in the rain; she had to get to the hospital. Bella was still waiting for her there; she couldn't be defeated like this.

Anna thought, 'It's just money, right? I'll definitely come up with a way.'

She ran frantically in the rain, thinking about what had happened two hours ago.

Bella had suddenly called her, "Anna, come pick me up. I'm at the entrance of the Windsor Villa."

Then, the call cut off.

She thought Bella had a fight with Sterling and ran away from home, so she took a cab to The Windsor Villa.

But when she arrived, she found Bella lying on a bench not far from the Windsor Villa, rain pouring on her. She couldn't believe it was Bella and ran over frantically.

Bella looked pitiful and helpless.

Anna didn't know what had happened. She was so flustered that she didn't know whether to call for an ambulance or find Sterling.

Bella slowly opened her eyes, still somewhat conscious.

"Bella, what's wrong?" Anna was crying, terrified.

Then Anna noticed a lot of blood mixing with the rainwater on the ground, coming from Bella.

She was so scared she fell to her knees.

"Bella, what's wrong? Don't scare me," Anna cried, panicking, calling Bella's name over and over.

Bella gave a weak, pale smile and said, "Anna, take me to the hospital. My stomach hurts."

Anna finally snapped into action. She was so flustered she forgot to call an ambulance.

She carried Bella on her back and flagged down a cab. Luckily, one stopped, and she got Bella to the hospital just as Bella passed out again.

Both of them were soaked.

Bella was rushed into the operating room, and Anna broke down crying outside.

Why did things turn out this way?

She wanted to call Sterling, but Bella had told her not to before she passed out.

Anna didn't know why, but she followed Bella's words.

She squatted for a while, feeling her legs go numb. Finally, the operating room door opened.

Before Anna could speak, the doctor asked, "Has the patient had a miscarriage before?"

Anna nodded tearfully.

The doctor said Bella had a miscarriage less than a month ago and now needed surgery due to heavy bleeding. He told her to go pay the fees.

But Anna was only doing part-time jobs, barely making ends meet for her and Qiana. She couldn't afford it. Bella also had no money on her when she came out. She had to go home to get the money Caleb had given her.

But she didn't expect the money to be gone like this.

Bella was waiting for the money to save her life in the hospital. But Anna was penniless.

Anna cried as she ran back to the hospital, her vision blurred. Luckily, the hospital was close to her home because the rent there was cheap.

She was freezing. When she got back to the hospital, she hadn't even caught her breath when a nurse came out and said, "The patient needs a family member to sign for the surgery. Are you a family member? Please sign here."

With trembling hands, Anna asked, "I'm her friend. Can I sign?"

The nurse shook her head and said, "No, it must be a family member."

Anna took a deep breath, her hands shaking, and picked up Bella's phone, tears falling.

"I'm sorry, Bella."

She couldn't sign, and she had no money. She had no choice but to call Sterling.

Bella had been forced by Sterling to clean the entire living room and the whole villa, and he demanded she couldn't use any tools, only a cloth.

He was torturing her, taking revenge. When she finally finished cleaning, she felt a slight pain in her waist but didn't pay attention to it.

But Sterling wasn't done with her. "Don't you like doing housework? Now go clean the pool outside."

Bella looked outside at the pouring rain and said, "It's raining outside. Even if I clean the pool, there will still be water in it."

Sterling didn't care. He just said, "Go! Don't you listen to me? Just do it! No more talking."
