Chapter 269 Note

There was a knock at the door. Bella opened it to find Colin and Anna standing there, and she quickly invited them in.

"Bella, what's going on? Calling me over in the middle of the night, is something wrong?" Anna asked, her voice full of concern.

"It's nothing. Didn't you want to come to Windsor Villa? Now that you're here, you're full of questions. Isn't this place beautiful?" Bella tried to change the subject.

Anna nodded enthusiastically. "It's gorgeous. Makes me feel like a princess in a fairy tale."

Colin pulled Anna aside and said in a serious tone, "Alright, princess, get some rest. No matter what sounds you hear tonight, unless it's us coming to get you, don't open the door. Got it?"

Bella and Anna exchanged puzzled looks. "Is something going to happen tonight?" Bella asked.

Colin spoke half-seriously, half-jokingly, "This villa was built over a hundred years ago before it came into the Windsor family's possession. Who knows how many people died here under mysterious circumstances? At night, you might encounter some restless spirits. I don't want you opening the door and getting snatched away."

Bella and Anna were both scared.

"What a jerk, scaring people in the middle of the night!" Anna exclaimed.

Anna and Bella pushed Colin and Sterling out of the room. "You're the worst!"

Sterling and Colin didn't resist and let themselves be pushed out. They watched the door slam shut in their faces.

Sterling chuckled and then headed to the room next door with Colin.

Sterling had spent many nights in this villa as a child and knew it well. He picked a room at random.

"I'll take some people outside to check things out," Colin said seriously. He had already arranged for some men to be stationed outside tonight.

Sterling nodded. "Alright, be careful."

Sterling took out his phone and dialed a number.

While waiting for the call to connect, he placed the phone on the table, took off his jacket, and draped it over the back of a chair.

The call connected. "Mr. Windsor."

It was Ryan.

Sterling said, "We're at Windsor Villa now."

Ryan responded immediately, "Got it. I'm on my way."

Sterling removed his watch and rolled up his sleeves, revealing the veins on his wrist. "We'll be staying here tonight. You've been monitoring them for a few days. Any thoughts?"

"They're guilty as hell," Ryan replied without hesitation.

Sterling went to the bathroom to wash his hands. The bathroom mirror reflected a slight smile on his lips, a smile that showed he didn't take these small-time players seriously.

"Cowards trying to stage a coup. Blair and Tobias really are a bunch of clueless fools."

Ryan shared his assessment. "They're definitely involved in drug trafficking, but given their resources, it's unlikely they're the masterminds."

"Exactly." The real mastermind wanted the downfall of the Windsor family.

These clueless Windsor family members were just handing over the knife to be used against themselves. Truly idiotic.

"What should we do next?" Ryan asked.

Sterling took a tissue to dry his hands, his expression always calm and refined.

"Stir things up a bit, see how they react. Our sudden stay tonight will definitely make them send people to watch us. Let's not waste their effort."

"Alright, I'll personally bring some men over tonight," Ryan said.

"No need to come inside. Colin's already here. Just send some men to assist Micah and keep a few outside Windsor Villa for backup," Sterling instructed.

After a moment's thought, Sterling added, "Make sure everyone knows Bella's in the east wing. Don't scare her when you make a move."

Ryan paused, then said, "Understood, Mr. Windsor."

Bella closed the door after Sterling left, leaning against it with a tightly clenched note in her hand.

Anna was excited. "Bella, I can't believe Sterling is so rich. He even has such a huge villa. My friend has really made it."

Bella smiled. "Alright, enough of that. I need to go out for a bit."

"What's up?" Anna asked, puzzled. It was so late, why go out now?

Bella took out the note she was holding. Anna leaned in to read it.

It said: [I know the truth about your father's accident. If you want to know, meet me at the garden gazebo at 2 AM.]

The note had been slipped to her by the housekeeper when they were shown to their rooms.

"What does this mean? Who is it?" Anna asked after a few seconds of silence.

Bella shook her head. "I don't know, but I want to find out. The only people who know about my father's accident are from the Windsor family."

Bella guessed it was either Blair or Derek. But what were they up to? Why choose tonight to tell her?

"I'll go with you," Anna said firmly.

Bella nodded.

She had been searching for the truth for so long. She thought the trail had gone cold with Beck, but now someone was bringing it up again. Whether it was true or not, she had to find out.

Bella clutched the note tightly and didn't hesitate. At 2 AM, she and Anna went to the meeting spot.

The garden gazebo stood quietly in the center of the garden, like the finishing touch in a beautiful painting.

Bella had been here during the day. Relying on her memory, she easily navigated the winding corridors, leading Anna to the gazebo.

Under the corridor, every few feet hung a delicate lamp.

The soft orange light filtered through thin glass, casting dappled shadows and adding a touch of warmth and romance to the quiet night.

The light gently enveloped Bella, making her face look especially soft, as if embraced by the warmth of the night.

Bella's hair was elegantly pinned up, revealing her delicate earlobes and slender neck.

Her skin, under the light, had a faint pink hue, like fine porcelain.

The dark dress she wore accentuated her graceful figure, showcasing both the subtlety and gentleness of a woman and the lively charm of a young girl.

From a distance, she looked like a budding flower, quietly blooming in the night, exuding a faint fragrance and allure.

Derek was already waiting in the gazebo. He watched Bella run over, grateful that Caleb had shared Sterling's secret with him.

He might not dare to threaten Sterling, but he certainly could threaten Bella.

As she approached, he sneered, "A woman who succeeded in getting close to Sterling with just her looks. You really are bold to come here."

Bella saw Derek and wasn't too surprised. It was somewhat expected. "So it was you."

Bella ignored Derek's words and stared coldly at him. Anna also glared at Derek.

Seeing Bella's unflinching demeanor, Derek felt a strong sense of frustration.

His emotions got the better of him, and his words became sharp and sarcastic.

"Do you really think you can always be Sterling's wife? At best, you're just a tool to warm his bed!"
