Chapter 241 Proposal

Anna struggled for a moment. "Caleb, let go of me."

But Caleb ignored her request. Instead, he gently turned her around and kissed her passionately. His arms wrapped tightly around her, as if he wanted to merge her into his embrace.

On this quiet night, the starry sky was dazzling, and the romantic atmosphere of a proposal should have been enchanting.

However, Anna couldn't immerse herself in the romance. The man before her was someone she had once loved deeply, but now, she couldn't find a trace of emotion in her heart.

When Caleb's tongue tried to part her lips, she panicked and forcefully broke free from his embrace. "Caleb!"

Caleb realized his urgency and stood still, a look of disappointment and helplessness in his eyes. "I'm sorry. It seems I'm the only one lost in this emotion. Anna, have you stopped feeling anything for me?"

Anna didn't answer his question. She silently took off the ring and handed it back to him. "You're rushing things. I haven't made up my mind yet. You're still in the hospital; let's talk after you're discharged. We should head back to your room."

The atmosphere instantly became heavy and somber. Caleb walked to the railing and suddenly let out a bitter laugh, a hint of undisguised sorrow in his smile.

"Are you with Colin now? You attended the last party together. Have you found someone more suitable than me? Despite my efforts, I still couldn't beat the passage of time. Am I too late?"

Anna was caught off guard by Caleb's words, feeling a mix of panic and guilt.

She had indeed been close to Colin, but not in the way Caleb imagined.

She suspected Caleb might have investigated her, which made her uncomfortable. But she tried to adjust her emotions.

"It's not what you think. My feelings are complicated and I'm very tired. Let's go back to your room, okay?"

Anna left the hospital feeling dazed and unsure, not knowing what to do or whom to trust.

The next day, Caleb was unsettled by Anna's reaction and felt the need to confirm things with Sterling.

Bella was bored at home and decided to visit Sterling to talk about Caleb. She was really worried about Anna's attitude towards Caleb yesterday.

As she stepped into the elevator to the 46th floor, she felt a bit anxious, fearing Sterling might accuse her of meddling.

As soon as she exited the elevator, Sable greeted her and softly reminded her, "Mrs. Windsor, Mr. Windsor has a guest."

"A guest?" Bella quickly calculated in her mind and tentatively asked, "Is it inconvenient for me to go in now?"

Sable smiled and shook her head, explaining, "No, I'm just letting you know."

Not forbidden, just a reminder? This made Bella even more curious. What kind of guest warranted such a "formal" reminder? Her gaze unconsciously fell on Sable's chest.

Sable was indeed a rare beauty, with a figure comparable to a supermodel. Even in a tailored professional outfit, her impressive curves were hard to hide, and the buttons on her shirt seemed ready to burst open at any moment.

Bella, a woman herself, couldn't help but take a few more glances.

How did Sterling manage to stay composed around such a beautiful secretary every day? And he even placed Sable's desk right outside his office door, which seemed like a waste of such beauty!

"Mrs. Windsor? Are you going in?" Sable's voice interrupted her thoughts.

Bella awkwardly shifted her gaze from Sable's chest.

Even though they were both women, Bella felt it was inappropriate to stare so blatantly. But her eyes had just drifted uncontrollably.

"Yes! Of course, I'm going in!" She cleared her throat, trying to cover her embarrassment.

Sable's red lips curved into a seductive smile. She chuckled softly and opened the office door for her. "Go ahead, Mrs. Windsor."

Bella felt her face heat up from Sable's smile. Had she been caught staring?

She lowered her head and walked into the office, where the air suddenly grew quiet. She looked up and met Sterling's stern gaze and Caleb's playful expression.

The guest Sable mentioned turned out to be Caleb.

Wasn't Caleb supposed to be in the hospital? Why was he here?

After the recent events, Anna's attitude towards Caleb was unclear, and Bella didn't know how to face Caleb either.

She decided to sit on the couch. "I'm just here to hang out. You guys continue your conversation; don't mind me."

Caleb, dressed in a well-tailored black suit with his right hand in a cast, stood by the glass wall, holding a coffee cup.

Compared to Sterling, he still had a touch of youthfulness, reminiscent of Sterling in his younger days.

Bella noticed for the first time that the two brothers actually had some similarities in their features. She hadn't thought about it before or paid close attention. Now, seeing them together, the resemblance was clear.

Sterling leaned against the edge of his desk, his expression sour. "If you have nothing else, you can leave."

Caleb walked towards Bella. "Bella just arrived. Of course, I need to chat with her. No need to rush me out."

But she could clearly sense Sterling's displeasure. She wasn't happy either and shot Caleb a fierce glare.

Sterling, looking like he couldn't be bothered with Caleb, returned to his office chair and focused on his computer screen. Whether he was actually working or sulking was unclear.

"Bella, you want me and Anna to be together, right?" Caleb suddenly shifted the topic to Anna.

"What do you think?" She wanted to call him a jerk, but she was in Sterling's office and couldn't use foul language.

"I know there were misunderstandings between Anna and me, which made you have issues with me too. I've explained everything to her, so I won't repeat it here. Regarding Anna and me, I hope you can speak well of me and help convince her to marry me soon. I owe her a perfect wedding." Caleb spoke sincerely.

Bella was almost amused by his words, not knowing what to say. "A wedding? You're dreaming."

Caleb didn't mind her words. He glanced at Sterling, his eyes narrowing slightly, and lowered his voice.

But Sterling could still hear him. "Bella, Sterling supports me being with Anna. He even bought Anna's family's dock to give me as a wedding gift."
