Chapter 63 The Hypocritical Woman

Xavier's daughter, Nia, was totally into playing with Sterling when she was a kid. Even back when Sterling's dad was around, he'd joke about Nia marrying Sterling, but everyone just laughed it off.

Three years ago, Xavier actually thought about marrying Nia to Sterling. But, turns out, Sterling was already hitched.

Sterling didn't get any useful info from Xavier, so he decided to head out. On his way back to the hotel, he called up Ryan to ask about Bella.

After taking Bella to the hospital, Ryan was hanging out downstairs. To his surprise, he bumped into James.

"Oh, great, it's James again. Last time, Mr. Windsor and Mrs. Windsor had a huge fight because of him, and now he's back?" Ryan felt a wave of frustration.

When Sterling and Bella had their issues, they didn't take it out on the staff, but the tense vibe made everyone uncomfortable.

Ryan thought about getting out of the car to stop James. If he could keep James from seeing Bella, maybe Sterling wouldn't be so pissed.

But just as Ryan was about to step out, he saw a girl run up and grab James' arm, heading into the hospital with him.

"Isn't that James' fiancée, Amara? If he's with his fiancée, there shouldn't be any misunderstandings, right?" Just as Ryan was thinking this, his phone buzzed in his pocket.

Seeing Sterling's name on the caller ID, Ryan smacked the steering wheel, accidentally honking the horn and startling some passersby, one of whom shot him a dirty look.

Ryan didn't care; he was too busy grumbling to himself. "Seriously? I just saw Mr. Windsor's rival, and now he's calling me? What are the odds?"

Despite his complaints, Ryan knew he had to answer.

"Why'd you take so long to pick up? Didn't you take Bella to the hospital? Where is she now?" Sterling's cold voice came through the phone.

Hearing that tone, Ryan knew Sterling was probably alone and didn't need to put on a show.

"Mrs. Windsor's already at the hospital, but I think I saw James' car. Mr. Windsor, don't get the wrong idea; James came with his fiancée. I swear, Mrs. Windsor and James just ran into each other by chance," Ryan tried to defend Bella, but he could feel the tension from the other end of the line.

"Got it," Sterling said curtly and hung up.

Ryan slumped back in his seat, muttering, "Mrs. Windsor, I've really done my best."

Bella had no clue what was going on with Ryan. She was chilling with Anna. After chatting with Anna and Qiana for a bit, James walked in.

James was momentarily taken aback when he saw Bella, then he smiled gently. "You're here too? What a coincidence."

Bella was about to say hi when she felt Anna touch her arm. That's when she noticed James' fiancée, Amara, standing behind him.

"Thanks for visiting my dad, James," Anna smiled, speaking for Bella.

"You're too kind, Ms. Powell. Since you're friends with James, you're friends with me too. It's only right we visit your father," Amara said, holding onto James' arm and smiling at Anna.

Bella saw a flicker of annoyance on James' face when Amara grabbed his arm, but it vanished quickly.

'Looks like James isn't into Amara either, but that's none of my business,' Bella thought, giving Amara a polite smile before looking down and staying quiet.

Amara walked up to Anna, still smiling. "Ms. Powell, on our way here, James and I thought we should get your dad a better ward for his treatment."

James frowned. He had thought about it, but he never mentioned it to Amara.

"Really? James, that's so kind of you," Anna's mom, Qiana, said, taking James' hand, clearly touched.

James didn't contradict Amara. He just said it was the right thing to do as a friend.

Anna and Bella exchanged a look. With their intuition, they sensed something was off between James and Amara.

After they moved Peter to a new ward, Qiana asked Anna to thank her friends properly.

"You're too kind. We're happy to help since you're in a tough spot. This was James' idea. We've already booked a nearby restaurant," Amara said, still holding James' arm and smiling.

James' frown deepened. He glared at Amara, sighed, and turned to Anna. "Would you like to join us for dinner?"

Anna shook her head. "I better not. I need to stay and take care of my dad. My mom's been exhausted, and I want her to rest."

James then looked at Bella, who also shook her head.

"I'm not going either. My husband has dinner ready at home, and I need to get back," Bella said with a smile.

James looked disappointed but had no choice but to leave with Amara.

Once they got back to the car, James' face darkened.

"Why were you so eager to show off at the hospital? Were you trying to claim me as yours? Am I your property? And that last thing you said sounded like charity. Even if Anna is my friend, she wouldn't appreciate it," James snapped at Amara.

Amara gave him a cold smile. "I did it for you. Don't think I don't know why you came to the hospital. You wanted to use visiting Anna as an excuse to see Bella. If I wasn't keeping an eye on you, I wouldn't have stepped foot in that stinky ward."

James looked at Amara with disgust. "I don't need you to keep an eye on me. I know what I'm doing!"
