Chapter 114 Ask Him for Money
Bella and Anna sat on the nearby flower bed, neither of them speaking for a moment. Bella was too busy trying to calm her racing heart.
Even though Bella felt uncomfortable, she could still sense Anna's sadness. She grabbed Anna's hand and said, "Hey, don't lose hope. We'll figure this out."
Anna's tears started flowing. "I don't get why Qiana's doing this. Am I even her daughter? She's never shown me any love. It was always the nanny who took care of me. All she does is take money and waste it. I'm sorry, but I can't handle this anymore."
Seeing Anna like this made Bella's heart ache. She asked, "Have you ever thought about cutting ties with her?"
Anna thought for a second and replied, "Don't talk about such an unrealistic thing. She is my biological mother. Even if she weren't, we've lived together for over 20 years. It's not something I can just cut off like that."
Bella realized she shouldn't have brought it up and said, "It's okay, it's just 2 million dollars, right? I'll ask Sterling for the money and pay it off for you."
Bella patted her chest confidently.
Anna suddenly laughed and said, "Bella, are you planning to steal your husband's money to help me out?"
Bella laughed too and said, "Yep, I can totally steal my husband's money to support you."
They hugged each other, laughing and crying.
Bella took the matter to heart. When she got home that night, Sterling wasn't back yet. Bella didn't want to deal with Nia, so she went to her room early and locked the door to keep Nia out.
Later, the door was unlocked from the outside with a key, and without looking, she knew it was Sterling. He never knocked; he always just walked in.
Sterling came in with a cold expression and said, "What's going on? Why'd you lock the door again? Who upset you this time?"
Sterling's tone wasn't great. Bella had something to ask him tonight, so she didn't get mad.
Bella said, "It's nothing, I just didn't want Nia to come in, so I locked it."
Sterling sighed and said, "Don't stoop to Nia's level."
Bella thought Sterling was defending Nia, and she felt a bit angry for a moment, but remembering what she needed to ask him tonight, she held back.
Bella calmly said, "I won't stoop to Nia's level. She's just a spoiled brat."
Sterling felt a bit relieved, seeing Bella being so reasonable for once.
Sterling nodded and said, "Good that you know." Then he went to take a shower.
When Sterling came out of the bathroom, he found that Bella was still awake.
"What's this? Waiting for me? You didn't sleep tonight?" Sterling said while drying his hair.
Bella said, "Yeah, I have something to talk to you about."
Sterling looked at Bella with interest. "Didn't expect you to have something to say to me. Alright, go ahead. What's so important that you stayed up?"
Bella directly reached out her hand and said, "Give me money, I need money."
Sterling was a bit disappointed. "That's it?"
Bella nodded.
Sterling didn't say anything, just tossed his wallet from the table to Bella and said, "Take it yourself."
Sterling then couldn't help but ask, "What do you need the money for?"
Bella replied, "You don't let me work, so I have no money. Of course, I need money."
Sterling assumed Bella just needed some cash for a shopping spree with her friend Anna and didn't think much of it.
Bella took his wallet, opened it, and saw a bunch of Centurion Cards. She knew each card had no limit. She randomly picked one and asked, "The password?"
Sterling said, "You know the password, it's still the same, four sixes."
Bella nodded and was about to put the card away when she noticed a white card at the bottom of the wallet.
She was about to take it out to look when Sterling snatched the wallet and tossed it on the table, saying, "You got the money, now can you sleep?"
Bella was really curious and asked, "Is that a photo in your wallet? Is it your first love?"
Sterling looked at Bella carefully, smiled, and nodded, "Yeah, it's my first love."
Bella thought, 'So what if it's his first love? Everyone has a first love.'
But then she remembered how Sterling had ruined her first love, and she got a bit angry.
Bella asked, "Was your first love pretty?"
Sterling looked at Bella without blinking, as if seriously considering her. After a while, he said with a faint smile, "Pretty, but sometimes a bit temperamental."
Bella saw that Sterling was really talking about his first love and got even angrier. She pulled the blanket over her head and said, "Ok, well, I am sleepy."
Sterling silently smiled and said, "She did have a bit of a temper."
Bella was too angry to speak and turned her back to him. Sterling didn't tease her anymore. He just picked up his wallet from the table and took out the photo.
It was a picture of a girl playing in the snow, her side profile slightly round but already showing signs of beauty. He silently put the photo back into his wallet.
Meanwhile, Anna was still stressing over the 2 million dollars problem.
When Anna got home, she had a huge fight with Qiana and found out that the 2 million dollars had already been lost by Qiana. Anna was so angry she felt like she was going crazy.
But Qiana accused Anna of being ungrateful, thinking Anna was betraying her good intentions.
Anna, seething with rage, snapped, "Wake up! Stop daydreaming about being rich. Instead of trying to sell me to a rich man, why don't you find one for yourself?"
Qiana slapped Anna across the face without hesitation.
Anna's face instantly swelled with redness. She looked at Qiana with a sorrowful expression and said, "You've hit me and scolded me. Can you please stop doing these things? My life is already a mess. Can you stop adding to it, please?"
Qiana was also in tears and said, "Anna, if your father were still here, I wouldn't say anything. Do you think you're well-off? What's the use of your pride? Look at your friends, aren't they all glamorous? And look at you, what kind of life did you live before, and what kind of life are you living now? Are you really content? Don't you want to live a wealthy life again?"
