Chapter 219 The Purpose of Entanglement
"I've thought it through, I only want Bella. How can an heir compare to Bella?" Sterling growled.
Colin looked at Sterling and thought he seemed a bit crazy. Colin sighed and said, "Sterling, don't go mad. The Windsor family has such a big business, who are you planning to leave it to?"
"Are you going to hand it over to those Windsor family relatives? Not only are they incapable, but even if they took over the Windsor Group, they would ruin it completely."
Sterling's hair was a bit long, covering his brow. He leaned back on the sofa, and after hearing Colin's words, he seemed drained of all energy.
Sterling's voice sounded exhausted, "There are many children among the Windsor family's distant relatives. We can groom one to inherit the Windsor Group, or we can adopt one."
Colin thought Sterling was simply crazy, "Sterling, don't be ridiculous. Even if the child you adopt is excellent, do you think the Windsor family would agree to hand over the Windsor Group to a child without Windsor blood?"
"Besides, the most important thing is that Bella wouldn't agree. How would Bella stand in the Windsor family in the future?"
Sterling didn't speak, just tilted his head back and drank the liquor on the table. The strong drink did nothing to clear his mind.
Colin continued, "Is Bella using this as an excuse to divorce you? I know what she's thinking. She probably thinks she can't give you an heir, so she doesn't want to make things difficult for you. What do you think?"
Sterling poured another glass of liquor and said, "I haven't thought much about it. I've always wanted Bella. As for an heir, there are so many descendants in the Windsor family, there will be one who can inherit."
Colin knew he couldn't persuade Sterling otherwise. He understood the significance of Bella to Sterling.
A rose he had raised since childhood, how could Sterling let anyone else take her away?
"Sterling, whatever decision you make, Micah and I will support you."
Colin then mentioned Caleb, "By the way, I heard he's planning to move his business to Oakridge. Should we follow?"
Mentioning Caleb made Sterling a bit more alert, "Oakridge?"
Sterling thought of the small town of Oakridge and suddenly wanted to take Bella there. Maybe a change of scenery would help her mood, at least keep her from dwelling on past sorrows.
Since Caleb was extending his influence to Oakridge, Sterling thought he might as well take a look.
After a moment of contemplation, he said, "Alright, make the arrangements. We'll go together."
"Go together?" Colin was puzzled.
Sterling nodded and added, "We can't go in a high-profile manner, or we'll alert them. We'll pretend to take Bella for a break and inspect the Oakridge company's business, then investigate privately."
Colin understood, "Alright, I'll arrange the Rivera family business here. My mother is still managing most of it."
Mentioning his mother, Gia, Colin felt a bit helpless recently. Sterling laughed, "What? Is your mother forcing you to go on blind dates again?"
Colin shook his head irritably, "I wish it were just blind dates. Never mind, let's not talk about it. I'll try to arrange the Oakridge trip for you. But there's some news, I heard Caleb is in contact with the Powell family's dock. Is it true?"
Sterling didn't intend to hide it from Colin. He drank the liquor in his glass and said, "If you want to know, I'll have Ryan send you the information later."
It was already late at night when Sterling left. After seeing Sterling off, Colin immediately checked the files Ryan sent him.
As he expected, Caleb's entanglement with Anna was to get the Powell family's dock.
The dock's ownership had less than a year left. Caleb would definitely try to get Anna to transfer it to him or buy it outright.
But Sterling found out that Caleb didn't have enough liquid funds to buy a dock.
The only way was for Anna to transfer it willingly. What method would Caleb use to make Anna agree?
Marriage? Pregnancy? Or something more sinister?
Thinking of this, Colin broke out in a cold sweat, his expression turning dark and cold. He wouldn't allow Caleb to harm Anna in any way.
The car accident had been a nightmare for both Bella and Anna, but now the nightmare was over, and Anna had returned to her normal life. She worked diligently every day and visited Bella after work.
These days, Anna had been working hard at the company and acting as a listener.
Because Bella would talk to her at any time, and lately, Bella talked mostly about divorcing Sterling.
Anna learned from Bella that Sterling hadn't agreed to the divorce, which she had expected. Anna knew Sterling wouldn't let Bella go.
Anna was very anxious, constantly checking her phone. Whenever it rang, no matter how late, she would get up to check and answer, fearing Bella might be in a bad mood.
Colin had told her about Bella's emotional breakdown at the hospital that night, and the long psychological treatment before her discharge.
Thinking about all this, which Bella hadn't told her, made Anna's heart ache. Bella had kept it all to herself to avoid causing her worry.
Anna was afraid Bella might do something extreme, so she kept a close watch on her phone, making her sleepy at work.
Finally, it was lunchtime, but she had no appetite. She just wanted to sleep, or she wouldn't have the energy to work in the afternoon.
Anna was about to rest on her desk when she heard a knock.
Annoyed, she looked up, "What is it? It's lunch break, can't I rest?"
Colin looked at her tired face and couldn't help but laugh, "Did you stay up all night stealing?"
Anna sighed, "Bella's been in a bad state lately. Sometimes she wakes up in the middle of the night and calls me. I have to keep an eye on my phone. She's lost her child, never mind, she's definitely feeling terrible. Do you need something? If not, I'm going to sleep, I'm exhausted."
Colin thought for a moment, "Come to my office."
Anna was frustrated, "Why? Do I have to work during lunch too?"
Ignoring her complaints, Colin grabbed her by the collar and dragged her to his office.
"Sleep in my lounge," Colin pointed to the lounge inside his office.
