Chapter 247 Tricked Back Home
Colin shot her a glare and said, "If you wanna return it, do it yourself. If you don't take it now, won't that just make my mom even more upset? If you really wanna give it back, I'll drive you there right now."
Anna quickly waved her hands, "No, no, let's not do that. So, what do we do now?"
Colin thought for a moment and said, "How about we take this stuff back to Whitewater Bay?"
Anna nodded.
On the way, she fell asleep, and when she woke up, the car was already parked in the driveway of the Whitewater Bay villa.
Anna turned to Colin, looking shocked, "Why'd you bring me here?"
Colin smiled slightly, "Didn't you say you wanted to bring the stuff here?"
Anna looked at him, exasperated, "Did it have to be tonight? Couldn't we do it tomorrow?"
Colin feigned innocence, "I thought you wanted to bring it back today."
Seeing Anna's displeasure, Colin quickly said, "Since we're already here, help me carry the stuff inside."
Anna resigned herself to getting out of the car and started moving the items from the back seat into the villa.
While Anna was busy moving things, Colin went to the cabinet and took out a bottle of red wine.
He poured himself a glass and watched with interest as Anna made trip after trip from the car to the villa.
As he watched her hustle back and forth, Colin thought that this woman should be by his side.
Caleb was a worthless jerk, unworthy of someone as wonderful as Anna.
Anna finally finished moving everything. Feeling thirsty, she turned to Colin and said, "Pour me a glass too."
Colin was more than happy to oblige and quickly poured her a glass. Anna tilted her head back and drank it down.
Colin was taken aback and then chuckled, "That's not how you drink red wine. You'll get drunk."
Anna waved her hand dismissively, "You didn't even help me, just sat here drinking wine. I'm exhausted."
Anna put her hands on her hips, placed the glass on the table, and said, "I'm heading back now. Do whatever you want."
But Colin suddenly asked from behind her, "Anna, what's going on between you and Caleb? Can you tell me?"
Although Colin didn't want to bring up Caleb, he had no other excuse to keep Anna there.
Anna stopped in her tracks and turned to look at Colin, "Why are you asking?"
Colin patted the chair next to him and motioned for Anna to sit down, "It's not a random question. I just want to know. As a friend, as your boss, can't I be concerned about your love life? Don't you have anything you want to say?"
Colin swirled the wine in his glass, his voice low.
Anna thought about it. Recently, she had been troubled by this issue. She had tried to talk to Bella, but Bella was preoccupied with Sterling and couldn't spare any time for her.
She glanced at Colin.
"I don't know," Anna said, pouring herself another glass of wine, her expression turning somber.
"When I was with Caleb before, I felt happy, a kind of carefree happiness where I could do whatever I wanted. But now that he's back, I can't seem to find that feeling again. You know? It's like there's something missing between us, like the passion in our love is gone."
Colin listened to Anna's words and felt he had an answer. He hid his emotions and calmly analyzed, "From what you're saying, it sounds like you don't have feelings for him anymore. If you don't love him, why are you still tangled up with him?"
Anna shook her head, "You don't get it. It's complicated. He's Sterling's brother, the illegitimate son of the Windsor family. You probably already know that, right? He told me about his past. I used to think I was being good to him, but later he told me that I was hurting his pride. He felt he had no dignity around me. He broke up with me because he wanted to be a man who didn't rely on a woman to get ahead."
Anna scratched her head, frustrated, "I don't know why. It's just a mess I can't untangle."
Colin knew Caleb's game. He was shamelessly using Anna's kindness to manipulate her. What a scumbag.
If he really cared about his pride, he wouldn't have shared his past life with Anna.
He was just trying to gain her sympathy.
Colin wanted to tell Anna that Caleb was deceiving her, but seeing her frustration, he couldn't bring himself to say it.
Besides, now wasn't the right time.
Finally, Colin said, "Anna, let me take you somewhere to relax."
"Isn't it too late to go out?" Anna looked at Colin, surprised.
Colin said, "We don't need to go out. Just follow me."
Colin led Anna to the basement of the villa. He opened the door and took her inside.
Anna was surprised to see that it was a game room. She looked at Colin in amazement, "You really are extravagant, having a game room in your house."
Colin smiled without saying anything, then turned on the large game screen and sat on the couch, motioning for Anna to join him.
Colin found his favorite game, "Let's play a game to help you relax."
Anna said, "But I don't know how."
"No worries, I'll teach you."
With that, they started a game. Anna found playing with Colin surprisingly enjoyable.
"There's a monster on the second floor, go take it out."
"I'm out of ammo."
"You're useless. Hide behind me, I'll handle it." Anna said, pressing the game controller hard.
With a bang, she ended the game.
Anna was amazed at how quickly she learned the game. Playing with Colin made her forget all her troubles.
After a while, Colin leaned back, resting his head on his hand, and looked at Anna, "Anna, tell me, how did you end up with Caleb back then?"
Anna, feeling the effects of the wine, was a bit tipsy, "Why should I tell you?"
Colin said, "What made you fall for him?"
It sounded like he was talking to himself, regretting her choice back then.
The sweet wine mixed with his emotions, and Colin closed his eyes, memories of his time with Anna flashing through his mind.
He suddenly said softly, "Since I met you, I haven't been with anyone else."
Anna, not understanding why he said that, replied, tipsy, "I know, you've been busy with your career."
Colin didn't respond.
Anna continued, "You'll find someone eventually."
