Chapter 149 Really Didn't Do Anything
Micah knew this whole mess blew up out of nowhere, and there was no time for the PR team to put out a statement before it was already all over the internet.
"Don't stress, Colin's on it," Micah said.
But for some reason, the news kept getting worse. Micah mentioned Colin had it under control. Who was stirring the pot? It seemed like someone was gunning for Anna.
"Does Anna have any other enemies?" Micah asked.
Bella shook her head, "No way, Anna's a sweetheart; she wouldn't have enemies."
Micah nodded, not expecting things to get this bad.
Bella scoffed, "Colin's a joke. Now he's dragged Anna into this mess. How's he gonna face us?"
Micah shot back, "You don't have to say that. They both willing."
Bella glared, "What do you mean they both willing? Anna's not like that. If she wanted to climb the social ladder, she would've married rich like her mom wanted. She wouldn't need Colin. This is all on him."
Seeing Bella so protective of Anna, Micah just smiled, "Alright, it's Colin's fault. He messed up this time."
Bella huffed, "Men are all the same. Even with a fiancée, they still fool around."
Micah rubbed his nose and stayed quiet. The guys in their circle were like wild horses; even after marriage, having a side piece was normal.
But he knew Bella and Anna wouldn't stand for that. Most arranged marriages in their world were just agreements, and after the wedding, everyone did their own thing.
But Bella and Anna wanted real loyalty, which was rare. The only guy he knew who was truly faithful was Sterling.
Bella saw a bunch of reporters and troublemakers outside Anna's place. They were yelling at Anna and throwing eggs and veggies at her windows. Bella was so mad she almost passed out.
"Can't we call the cops?" Bella asked.
Micah said, "No, don't call the cops. Anna's reputation is already in the gutter. If you call the police, it'll be all over the news, and it might go to court."
Bella's face flushed with anger, "It's already this bad, and you're still worried about people finding out? Don't these people have anything better to do?"
Micah didn't think things would get this bad. They snuck into Anna's house through the back door. As soon as Anna saw Bella, she ran over.
Bella saw Anna looked more worn out and had lost weight over the past few days. She felt a pang of sadness, "Anna, are you okay?"
Micah also showed concern, "Don't worry about those people outside. They're just looking for trouble. I'll get the bodyguards to clear them out soon."
Anna nodded weakly, "I won't pay attention to them. It's just that I can't go out or work."
Bella looked at her in disbelief, "At a time like this, you're still thinking about work?"
Anna threw up her hands and sighed, "What else can I do? Should I just give up? It's already a mess. I probably can't get into Colin's company anymore."
Bella chuckled, "Don't worry about it. If you need a job, I'll have Sterling hook you up. There are plenty of opportunities out there. We don't need Colin's company. If it weren't for him, we wouldn't be in this mess."
Anna nodded, "Yeah, it's Colin's fault. But he's probably having a tough time too. I heard Opal is pressuring his family to take a stand. I wonder how he'll deal with it."
Bella snapped, "Forget about him. He can handle his own problems. But it must be tough for you not being able to go out these days, right?"
Anna nodded and sighed, "Yeah, I never thought I'd be called a homewrecker. You were right; Colin is trouble. But the thing is, I didn't even provoke him. Nothing happened between us that day. If something had, I'd own up to it. But nothing did."
Bella burst out laughing, "Not satisfied? What, do you really want a one-night stand with Colin?"
Anna said, "What are you talking about? I didn't do anything, but I'm the one getting all the blame. And Colin? There's nothing about him online. I'm the one bearing all the consequences."
Micah smiled and said, "I believe Colin will give you an explanation. He asked me to check on you today. He's stuck at the Rivera Mansion and couldn't come himself."
Qiana, who was nearby, overheard them talking about Colin and seemed to catch on.
Her eyes lit up, and she asked, "Is the Colin in the news with Anna the eldest son of the Rivera family? He's loaded. In that case, the Rivera family must give us an explanation." Then she turned to Anna and said, " You're an innocent girl; Colin must pay the price!"
Seeing Qiana's change in attitude, Anna knew what she was thinking.
"Mom, don't get any ideas. There's nothing between Colin and me. Stop thinking about it."
Bella added, "If Anna wanted to climb the social ladder, she would have listened to you long ago. You don't need to say such things."
Qiana dismissed the advice and retorted, "What do you know? Since the Rivera family is so wealthy, you should hold on to him tightly. Even if you can't be his wife, you can still benefit financially from Colin. Are you stupid?"
Anna was speechless and didn't want to talk to her. She turned and pulled Bella and Micah into the room, while Qiana continued to persuade her to hold on to Colin.
Anna sighed, "You see, I have no choice. She's just like that."
Bella comforted her, "There will be a way to handle the news. When Sterling comes back, I'll ask him to help you."
Mentioning Sterling, she realized she hadn't seen him for days. She looked at Micah, "Sterling hasn't come back these days. I wanted to ask you if you know what's going on. I've been calling him, and he keeps saying he's at the office but never says what he's doing. And he hasn't come back."
