Chapter 228 Bullying

Sterling reached out to hold her. "Don't say sorry to me, it only reminds me of my own weakness and incompetence. It was me, I ruined you, ruined our child, made it so you can never be a mother again."

It was the first time Bella had seen Sterling in such pain. She used to hate Sterling, wishing he could suffer as much as she did.

But now, seeing Sterling in pain, she didn't feel happy; instead, she felt more heartache. She hugged Sterling even tighter.

"Bella, you hate me, and that's right. You can keep hating me, continue to hate me."

Bella was crying uncontrollably.

Since ancient times, society had been about relationships, just as the Windsor family could not do without Sterling, and Sterling could not do without the Windsor family.

Power is important, but connections are equally important. They complement each other.

When young people do things, sometimes the other party is willing to help out of respect for their elders' relationships.

Especially in a region like Harborvale, where family concepts were strong and family forces were powerful, Bella's worries were ultimately proven right.

The next day at the board meeting, more than sixty percent of the directors voted against the projects submitted by Sterling's people.

Even Colin's cooperation with the Windsor Group was obstructed.

Sterling coldly watched the directors below, but they all lowered their heads, not daring to meet his gaze.

Sterling recognized these people and knew that those who opposed him were the ones who usually sided with Blair.

With the majority of votes against, Sterling couldn't force the project through. The group wasn't solely under his control, and he couldn't act as a tyrant.

Tyrants have never had good endings.

The projects submitted by Sterling's people had to be temporarily halted, and there were also problems with the projects in the neighboring city, forcing Sterling to rush over to handle them.

Sterling was usually very patient with outsiders, but today, on the way to the airport, he felt uneasy, unable to focus even on reading documents.

Just then, his phone suddenly rang. Seeing it was Zoey, he answered.

Zoey's voice was urgent and serious, "Mr. Windsor, you need to come back immediately. Blair has brought people again."

Sterling's body stiffened at the words, his tone cold, "Tell Owen to send them away."

Zoey didn't speak.

After a few seconds, Owen's voice came through the receiver, "Mr. Windsor, Blair said Mrs. Windsor can't have children, and he wants to deal with her according to family rules. You should come back."

Thunder rumbled in the distance, as if a heavy rain was about to fall.

Sterling quickly hung up the phone.

"Turn back to the Windsor Villa."

A dark storm clouded his eyes as he immediately instructed Ryan to turn the car around and head back to the Windsor Villa.

Ryan drove back to the Windsor Villa, and the rain poured down, obscuring the view of the road.

Zoey quickly opened the door and shouted, "Mr. Windsor, you're back."

Sterling immediately asked, "Where's Bella?"

He glanced around the house. The large living room was filled with people, both men and women, young and old.

Looking around, there were at least twenty people from the Windsor family.

On the sofa sat two elderly people in their seventies, sitting upright with serious expressions.

Seeing Anson, Sterling understood why Blair dared to cause such a scene.

With Sterling's appearance, everyone's eyes turned to him, and the younger ones stood up to greet him.

Sterling nodded slightly, not giving them a glance, and immediately walked towards Bella.

Everyone else was seated, only Bella stood, enduring their judgmental stares. At that moment, Sterling's urge to go mad reached its peak.

But he was afraid of scaring Bella. He suppressed his anger and heartache as he walked to Bella's side.

The moment Bella saw Sterling, her panicked heart suddenly calmed down, but her eyes were still timid.

Sterling walked to her side, raised his hand, and held Bella in his arms, ignoring the stares of those present.

Bella struggled a bit, but Sterling didn't move. He whispered gently in her ear, "Don't be afraid."

Bella thought to herself, 'With him here, there's nothing to be afraid of.'

Sterling's actions were a silent insult to everyone present. He let out a cold snort. "Take the younger ones to the media room to play."

He couldn't bring himself to humiliate the younger ones. Zoey immediately took the younger ones out of the living room.

Bella's tense back relaxed slightly, her eyes welling up with tears. Sterling raised his hand to wipe her tears and said again, "Don't be afraid."

Sterling said calmly, "Anson, you and Blair have quite the show here."

The servants of the Windsor Villa brought a chair for Sterling to sit, but he placed the chair next to Bella and pressed her to sit down.

"I heard you want to deal with my wife? What crime, let's hear it."

Bella's worst fear had come true. She couldn't stop trembling, and the shame of not being able to have children was about to be exposed. At that moment, she felt unprecedented shame.

Sterling, however, held her hand tightly, comforting her over and over.

Blair, naturally prepared, said, "The Windsor family rules, rewards for merit, punishment for faults. Not having descendants is the biggest fault."

"Now, Bella, as the mistress of the Windsor family, can't give you a child. Isn't that a big enough crime? What right does she have to hold the position of the Windsor family mistress?"

Bella felt as if a bucket of cold water had been poured over her, falling into an ice cellar.

At that moment, all eyes were on her.

Bella had never suffered such humiliation in her life. At that moment, she felt unprecedented humiliation.

Sterling saw Bella's thoughts at that moment and shouted, "Enough! Did I come here today to listen to you humiliate my wife?"

"Blair, where did you hear such rumors? Bullying my wife like this, she may be young and naive, but that doesn't mean I'm easy to deal with."

At Sterling's command, dozens of bodyguards rushed in, filling the room.

Blair, enraged, pointed at Sterling. "Sterling, what are you doing?"

Bella also grabbed Sterling's hand, telling him not to be impulsive.

Sterling's gaze was so cold it was intimidating. "Did you not think about how I would deal with you when you came here to bully my wife?"

Blair, trembling, said, "Are you going to go against the Windsor family for a woman? What kind of head of the family are you? What right do you have to hold the position of head of the Windsor family?"

Sterling took off the ring symbolizing the head of the family and gently placed it on the coffee table, saying, "Today, anyone who has the ability can take this ring."

"Whoever takes it will be the next head of the family. If anyone dares to take it, I will recognize them as the head of the family."
