Chapter 280 Caught at the Bar
Anna tried to steady her breathing, but her hands were still shaking. She spilled quite a bit of wine on the table, and the previous drunkenness had mostly worn off.
Bella noticed and asked worriedly, "Hey, Anna, you okay? You don't look so good."
Anna forced herself to stay calm, but her voice still shook a little. "It's nothing. I just want to drink. Will you join me?"
Bella, feeling relieved after clearing up their misunderstanding, agreed to drink with Anna.
They drank for about two more hours before Bella couldn't take it anymore. She looked pale and unsteady, saying, "I can't do this anymore. If I drink any more, I'm gonna throw up. Anna, can we go home?"
But Anna felt she hadn't had enough. Colin's words had sobered her up even more. She felt she needed to drink herself into oblivion so she wouldn't remember anything the next day.
"I don't want to go home yet. Either wait for me, or I'll take you home first."
Bella was worried about her. "No, I'll wait for you."
Just then, the music stopped, and a group of bodyguards in black suits started moving through the booths, seemingly looking for someone.
Anna's sharp eyes spotted Sterling entering through the main door. She tapped Bella's shoulder. "Bella, Sterling's here."
Bella shuddered and turned pale. "Don't joke with me! He doesn't know I'm here. I told him I'd be home late!"
Anna pointed to Sterling not far away. "I'm not joking. He's really here."
Bella followed Anna's gaze and saw Sterling's tall, striking figure. His height and looks stood out even in the noisy crowd, making him impossible to ignore.
Maybe it was the alcohol, but Bella found herself less afraid. To muster some courage, she poured another drink and downed it, then turned to Anna.
"Anna, I need to leave. Call me if you need anything."
Soon, Sterling and his bodyguards gathered around their booth.
Before he could get angry, Bella boldly hugged him. "I was out for dinner with Anna. We finished early and came here. Why are you here?"
Sterling's face was dark as he looked at Bella's drunken state, his anger boiling inside. He held back and said coldly, "I came to find you. Let's go home."
Bella waved goodbye to Anna and left the bar with Sterling.
Once in the car, she learned from Sterling that Colin was also at the bar and had tipped him off.
"Isn't he supposed to be in the hospital? Why is he at the bar?" Colin tattling was just too shameless.
Bella knew she was in the wrong for worrying Sterling. Seeing him silent, she added, "Anna's not mad at me anymore."
Sterling kept driving, his face still dark. Bella knew he was angry, so she gently held his hand and said softly, "I'm sorry for making you worry. I won't do this again."
Sterling glanced at Bella, his anger slightly easing. He sighed and said, "Don't make me worry like that again, okay?"
Bella nodded. Next time, she wouldn't come to the bar, and she wouldn't let Sterling worry about her again.
Sterling sighed again, unable to hold back. "If Colin hadn't told me you were here, how long were you planning to stay? Why go to such a chaotic place? It's dangerous for a girl to drink too much there. Do you even listen to me?"
Bella meekly replied, "I get it. I won't go again. If I do, I'll take you with me, okay?"
Sterling took a deep breath, rubbing his temples in frustration. "No more next time! I won't go to places like that either."
She stayed silent, suddenly feeling nauseous. Unable to hold it in, she called out to the driver, Ryan, to stop the car. "I need to throw up. Pull over!"
Ryan quickly pulled over, and Bella got out and vomited violently.
Sterling waited by the car, handing her tissues and water when she finished, his tone a mix of affection and annoyance. "Messy girl, you're worse than Sunny."
Bella pouted, cleaned up, and got back in the car. Though she had thrown up, the alcohol still numbed her, taking away her last bit of consciousness.
Back at The Windsor Villa, Sterling carried her to the bedroom, dropping her into a filled bathtub.
Before he could help her wash, Bella splashed around, soaking his clothes.
Sterling gritted his teeth, undressed her, and got in the tub himself. He didn't have the energy to clean her up first and then himself, so he washed them both together.
In the tub, Bella mumbled half-asleep, "Sterling, you're amazing!"
Sterling couldn't help but laugh and shake his head, continuing to wash her.
Drunk, Bella became bold and reckless. She pinched Sterling's face, saying daring things, oblivious to his darkening expression.
"Who taught you that?" Sterling's voice was low and dangerous.
Bella giggled, "Anna did. I think so too."
Sterling lightly slapped her leg, sternly saying, "Don't say things like that to anyone else, only to me. Got it?"
Bella playfully slapped his face back, laughing, "Got it! You're so hot, you might catch fire."
Sterling stayed silent, his anger burning inside. If Bella hadn't hugged him at the bar, he wouldn't have let it go so easily.
Thinking of Bella's drunken state, Sterling felt scared. He couldn't imagine what could have happened if she got into trouble there.
Suddenly, Bella's hand reached between them, curiously asking, "What's poking me?"
Sterling's breath hitched, his voice urgent, "Bella!"
But Bella's curiosity drove her to keep exploring. She didn't let go, even tugging. "Let me see what it is."
Sterling's eyes darkened, and he leaned down to silence her with a kiss.
