Chapter 202 How Could I Bear
Caleb glanced at Anna, whose face was flushed.
He wanted to say a few words of concern, but seeing Anna leaning against Colin, her body naturally inclined towards him, a sign of dependence, he suddenly felt a lump in his throat and said nothing.
He took a deep look at Anna and turned to leave.
After Caleb turned and left, Colin's previously disinterested expression immediately turned serious.
He had come tonight to test Caleb, and it seemed that in their exchange, he confirmed that Caleb was a deeply thoughtful and highly vigilant person, without showing any flaws.
As Colin was thinking, he suddenly felt a pain in his arm and looked sideways at Anna.
He found that Anna's eyes were already glazed, her face flushed.
She looked at him and suddenly started crying, "Colin, do you think that in the eyes of you rich people, I can be toyed with at will?"
"You brought me to this gathering today and could easily give me to Caleb in exchange for cooperation. So, will you give me to someone else tomorrow for greater benefits?"
"Am I your accessory, to be given away at will? Or do you think I owe you and must be at your beck and call? How are you any different from Caleb?"
Anna couldn't stop crying, and Colin felt that this was a huge misunderstanding. He had just played a small prank to test Caleb's attitude towards Anna.
He didn't expect Anna to misunderstand.
Colin immediately hugged her, wiping away her tears with one hand and comforting her, "I'm sorry, I was just joking. How could I bear to give you to someone else? Don't cry, Anna."
Colin knew Anna was already drunk.
Anna didn't listen to Colin's explanation and just kept struggling in his arms.
"Alright, I was wrong. I shouldn't have joked like that. It's all my fault." Colin held Anna tightly, trying to soothe her.
Anna gradually calmed down, seemingly tired from crying. She reached out and pinched Colin's arm.
"What were you doing? Why were you targeting Caleb all night?"
As soon as Colin heard Anna stop crying and start worrying about her ex-boyfriend Caleb, he grabbed Anna's chin and said, "What, do you feel sorry for him? You just blocked the drink for me in front of him. Aren't you afraid he'll misunderstand?"
Colin was a bit jealous. As soon as he heard Anna mention Caleb, he couldn't help but say something, even though he had just comforted her.
Anna pushed Colin away and said shakily, "Feel sorry? Block the drink? Wasn't it you who forced me to drink?"
Anna was never good with alcohol. After two drinks, she already felt dizzy. After crying, she now saw double when looking at Colin, barely able to recognize him.
Colin sighed helplessly. He hadn't intended for Anna to block the drink for him.
He just felt a bit annoyed seeing Caleb staring at Anna and wanted to see how Anna would act in front of Caleb.
But tonight, Anna had sided with him the whole time, which he was satisfied with.
So he pinched Anna's soft cheek and said, "Silly girl, let's go home."
As soon as Colin took a step, Anna clung to his arm like an accessory, mumbling, "Colin, I won't help you drink next time, you jerk."
Colin laughed and said, "Yes, I'm a jerk. I won't let you drink next time, okay?"
Anna knew she had drunk two glasses out of spite.
Seeing Caleb made her uncomfortable, so she blocked the drink for Colin, hoping to make Caleb unhappy.
She didn't understand her own feelings, feeling conflicted, but now she was too dizzy to think about it.
Colin half-dragged, half-carried Anna into the car. Seeing her drunk state, he found her quite cute.
Colin remembered the first time Anna got drunk, he took her to the villa at Whitewater Bay.
Thinking of that night, he found it amusing.
With one hand on the steering wheel and the other on the window, Colin suddenly asked Anna, "Anna, do you want to go home?"
Anna shook her head unconsciously and said, "Home? No, I don't want to go home."
Colin heard the answer he wanted and said, "Do you want me to take you home?"
Anna nodded, and Colin's smile widened, "Then beg me. If you beg me, I'll take you home."
Sure enough, Anna, like a drunk kitten, looked at him softly for a few seconds, "Colin?"
Colin was stunned, thinking she had sobered up, and was about to say something when Anna added, "Caleb?"
Colin's expression changed. He flicked her forehead, "Look carefully, who am I?"
Anna covered her forehead, looking at Colin with grievance, finally understanding, "Colin, you're that capitalist who exploits the working people. Take me home."
Colin snorted, "Didn't you just say you didn't want to go home?"
Anna shook her head frantically, "Yes, I don't want to go home. I don't want to see Qiana. I don't want to go home."
Anna suddenly started crying in the car, complaining about how Qiana exploited her and Bella.
Colin felt helpless, thinking he shouldn't have let her drink tonight.
In Anna's words, Colin had gone from despicable to a jerk. He felt helpless, then started the car and drove off.
The November night was very cold, with only a few stars twinkling faintly. The cold moonlight brought the chill of early winter, making the branches shiver.
Colin opened the car window, letting the cold wind in.
The cold wind sobered him up a bit. He called Sterling, "He's very vigilant. I don't know if tonight's test caught his attention. Should we find another chance to test him?"
Sterling thought for a few seconds on the other end and said, "There's a business summit in a week. He'll be there."
Colin thought for a moment and said, "Alright, I'll bring Micah along then."
The cold wind of the night brushed past his ears. Colin lightly pressed the gas pedal and soon arrived at Whitewater Bay.
Looking at Anna, Colin knew he had said some things that were too much tonight.
Colin didn't get out of the car immediately.
He looked at Anna, who had fallen asleep against the car window, and murmured, "How could I bear to give you to others?"
Colin sighed, then took a beautiful gift box from the car's storage compartment.
