Chapter 415 Best Friend Video
Bella took a hot shower, washing away the fatigue of the day. She changed out of her clothes and tossed them into the washing machine, then walked out to the balcony to hang her laundry.
On the balcony, a few pieces of clothing were hanging, but Sterling's suit stood out. He had accidentally left it at her place earlier, and Bella wondered if she should find a chance to return it to him.
Looking at the suit, now completely dry, Bella felt uneasy. Having it there was like a constant reminder of Sterling, making her feel as if a man was living in her apartment, which made her uncomfortable.
Bella decided that tomorrow she would ask Serafina to help return the suit to him. She carefully took it down, smoothed out the wrinkles, and folded it neatly, placing it aside.
Her phone, sitting on the coffee table in the living room, suddenly rang, interrupting her thoughts. She hurried over to answer it, and Anna's familiar voice came through: "Hey Bella, how've you been these past few days? Managing without me?"
Bella's lips curled into a slight smile as she pretended to be pitiful, "Not at all. Living alone is terrifying. I rush home from work every night, afraid something might be following me. But honestly, there's nothing to be scared of; I'm just a scaredy-cat. How are things with you and Colin? He hasn't been giving you a hard time, has he?"
Anna hadn't gone to Colin's place tonight because she had an unexpected visitor at home.
But over the phone, she shared her concerns with Bella: "It's okay, but I'm not entirely comfortable. I read a lot of relationship advice online, and they all say that with a guy like him, you should keep some distance, not be too accommodating, or he'll get bored quickly. So when I got back to Harborvale, I avoided seeing him for two days, and he got upset. Now, unless something comes up, I spend every night at his place. I'm worried he'll get tired of me soon. I really don't know what to do."
Bella understood what Anna meant by "spending the night" and chuckled, "He's quite insatiable, isn't he? I can't say for sure, but I think he might be different with you. If he ever dares to hurt you, I'll deal with him myself."
Anna laughed shyly on the other end, "Don't tease me. I know he can be a bit much sometimes, but I can't help it."
Bella nodded and continued, "Don't worry too much. If he's being honest, you'll feel it when you're together. Trust your instincts. Even if you're a bit clueless, you're still a woman. Plus, you're in the honeymoon phase, so it's normal for things to be intense. As long as you both cherish and trust each other, your relationship will only get better."
Anna hummed softly, with a hint of playfulness, "Are you calling me silly? I just feel like our routine is strange. We work separately during the day, he picks me up at night, and drops me off in the morning. It feels more like a schedule than a relationship. I'm thinking of shaking things up, taking it slow."
Bella laughed, knowing Anna was sensitive and serious about relationships despite her carefree demeanor. "I can't give you a definitive answer since I've never had a proper relationship myself. But I think you should follow your feelings. If you're uncomfortable, try changing things up. Relationships are about mutual effort and adjustment."
Anna agreed, "Yeah, that's what I think too. Tonight, I'm not letting him pick me up. I'll go home on my own and see how he reacts."
Bella laughed, "Alright, but be prepared. He might be really disappointed. I'm hungry, so I'm going to make some noodles. Talk later."
Anna suddenly stopped Bella from hanging up, "Wait! Just a quick question, has Sterling contacted you?"
Bella's heart tightened at the mention of Sterling. She sensed something, "Anna! You and Colin knew Sterling would come looking for me, didn't you? You haven't even married into the Rivera family yet, and you're already betraying our friendship? Why didn't you tell me earlier?"
Anna laughed awkwardly, "Bella, don't be mad. I only found out recently. Colin didn't want you to worry or overthink, so he didn't tell you."
Bella scoffed, "For my own good? How considerate of him. Where is he now? Why isn't he calling to explain himself?"
Anna explained, "He's busy with something important and can't leave. He said he'll come explain in person once you've calmed down. Bella, don't be mad. He's thinking about the bigger picture."
Bella took a deep breath, trying to calm herself, "The bigger picture? What does Sterling's business have to do with me? I just want to know why you kept it from me."
Anna was silent for a moment before replying, "I don't know all the details, but I can tell you that Sterling really wants you back."
Bella, though sounding a bit annoyed, wasn't truly angry, "Fine, I'm done talking to you. I'm making noodles. Bye!"
After hanging up, Bella exhaled deeply, her confusion and unease slowly dissipating. So they had known Sterling would come, and she was the only one left in the dark. Now it was too late; Sterling had already been to her place, and what was done was done.
Bella shook her head, smiling wryly at her own naivety, thinking she could control everything, only to be caught off guard by reality.
She walked into the kitchen and focused on cooking her noodles. As the aroma of the steaming noodles filled the air, her thoughts began to drift away.
Anna, on the other end, felt uneasy, worried that Bella was truly upset. She didn't dare call back to explain further, knowing it wouldn't help. After all, she had indeed helped keep Sterling's visit a secret from Bella.
