Chapter 55 The Frenzied Anna

Bella's eyes went wide as she saw Anna losing it. She grabbed her with all she had.

"Anna, chill out! What the hell are you doing?" Bella kept yelling, trying to get Anna to calm down.

Sterling just stood there, looking all stoic and unreadable.

"Ever since Bella met you, her life's been a mess. You're just a hypocrite, acting all gentlemanly in public! Behind closed doors, you're a total monster! Drop the act! You treat your wife like crap, you're not even a real man!" Anna screamed, her voice full of rage.

Bella was taken aback by Anna's outburst, while Sterling just frowned a bit.

The noise drew a crowd. Colin saw and started shooing people away.

"What the hell are you screaming about? Think you can mess with Sterling? Get lost," Colin said, trying to drag Anna away.

But Anna wasn't having it. She pulled out an empty bottle from her bag and chucked it at Sterling, hitting him square on the head. Bella and Colin were both stunned.

"I'll mess with him today, so what! Gonna ship me off again? You're just a thug, don't bother sending me away, just kill me! I've got nothing left to lose! Let everyone see who you really are! You're cheating with your wife's sister, you disgusting pig!" Anna yelled, her eyes blazing, cursing Sterling.

If Bella and Colin hadn't held her back, she would've gone after Sterling.

"Alright, enough! Aren't you embarrassed with all these people watching?" Colin picked Anna up and bolted.

Anna's shouts faded, and Sterling's face was like stone.

Bella couldn't stop thinking about what Anna said. She had nothing left to lose? What did that mean?

But Colin had already taken Anna away, so she couldn't ask. She'd have to call her later.

Sterling finally broke the silence, "Let's go."

He didn't even look at Bella as he headed for the parking lot. Bella followed, her smile gone. No need to fake it with no one around.

In the car, it was dead silent.

Ryan, the driver, could feel the tension and sighed to himself.

'When's this gonna end? It's always something with these two. What's the deal this time? Seems serious, even Bella's different.' Ryan glanced at Bella in the rearview mirror and shivered.

Bella's face was just like Sterling's, her whole vibe was the same.

Neither of them said a word the whole ride. When they got out, they silently walked back to the villa.

Bella headed to the bedroom, while Sterling made a beeline for the study.

Zoey watched them, feeling the icy vibes between them. It was like walking on eggshells.

"What's up with Mr. and Mrs. Windsor now?" Zoey asked Ryan, all worried.

Ryan just gave a bitter smile and shook his head. "They didn't fight this time, but it's probably worse than a fight."

He filled Zoey in on what went down at the engagement.

Zoey slapped her forehead, exasperated. "Why can't they just talk it out? Watching them tear each other apart is brutal."

Ryan shrugged, still smiling bitterly. "We're just the help, nothing we can do."

Bella lay on the bed, staring at the ceiling, tears rolling down her cheeks.

She remembered placing James' hand in Amara's. His hand had been trembling.

She hadn't seen James in three years, and time had dulled his memory in her heart. She wasn't that naive girl anymore; she had her own take on love now.

Just then, her phone rang. It was Anna. Bella remembered she hadn't had a chance to ask Anna about her cryptic words.

Bella picked up, and Anna's hoarse voice invited her to a bar to talk.

Bella could tell something was seriously wrong. Anna sounded like she was on the edge.

"Alright, hang tight. I'm coming over." Bella changed clothes and noticed the study door was open, with no sign of Sterling. He must've left.

She couldn't care less. As she was about to leave the villa, Owen stopped her.

"Mrs. Windsor, Mr. Windsor said you can't leave the villa," Owen said, all serious.

Bella, still fuming at Sterling, snapped back, "I'm the lady of this house. I don't need Sterling's permission to go anywhere. This is illegal detention."

Realizing she was being harsh, Bella softened her tone. "Owen, something's up with Anna. I just need to check on her. You know I don't have many friends. If you're worried, you can drive me."

Owen hesitated but then nodded and drove her to the bar.

"I'll wait here, Mrs. Windsor. Be careful," Owen said kindly as she got out of the car.

Bella found Anna at the spot she mentioned.

Anna looked a mess, with a half-empty bottle of booze in front of her.

She was swaying, clearly hammered.

As Bella got closer, Anna was about to fall, but Bella caught her and held her tight.

"Anna, what's going on? You seemed off today. Something happened at home?" Bella asked, worried.

Anna broke down. "It's over, our family's done. The stolen jewelry materials got destroyed by the thief, who then killed himself. We're bankrupt."
