Chapter 233 Brothers Meet
Ryan immediately sent someone to find Bella, but Bella had already shaken off Ryan and was heading upstairs. She wanted to see what Sterling was up to.
Sterling was acting very strange tonight, and Bella was more worried than curious about what he was up to.
In the private room upstairs, the man sitting opposite Sterling was none other than Caleb, whom they had met before.
They were both men of extraordinary temperament, and upon closer inspection, there was a certain resemblance between their features.
They stared at each other without speaking, as if the first to speak would lose.
Finally, Caleb looked at Sterling and suddenly laughed, "Long time no see, my brother."
Sterling continued to look at him coldly without speaking.
Seeing Sterling's imposing manner, Caleb added, "So you are afraid after all, not even daring to speak to me."
Caleb had a mocking expression, with no trace of the gentle gentleman he once was.
Sterling continued to look at him coldly, turning the ring on his thumb, his voice naturally commanding, "I am not your brother. My mother only gave birth to me. I have no brother."
Caleb's eye twitched at Sterling's taunt, which he could clearly hear.
Caleb thought back to when he wasn't called Caleb and also had the last name Windsor, but now he considered the Windsor name a disgrace.
Caleb quickly regained his indifferent demeanor, "You are my brother in name. So, did you deliberately shake off Bella tonight because you knew I was coming to see you?"
At the mention of Bella's name, Sterling immediately said coldly, "Don't target Bella."
Caleb said, "I'm not interested in her, but while sorting through my mother's belongings, I found a letter from Beck. I wonder if Mr. Windsor is interested?"
Sterling knew who Beck was. Bella had been looking for him, and he knew that, but as far as he knew, Beck was already dead.
Seeing Sterling's thoughts, Caleb said, "Yes, Beck is dead, but he left one last letter. Do you want to see it?"
Caleb placed a copy of Beck's letter on the table and pushed it towards Sterling.
Sterling still wore a cold expression but picked up the letter and glanced at it.
The general content of the letter stated that Sterling's father had an affair with Caleb's mother during his marriage and then abandoned her for the sake of the family, leading to her life of misery and suffering.
Beck, as Sterling's father's driver, couldn't stand it and helped take care of Caleb and his mother.
Over time, Beck developed feelings for Caleb's mother and treated Caleb as his own son.
In the end, he pleaded with Sterling to spare Caleb, saying that if he agreed, he would reveal the truth about the plane crash.
The truth about the plane crash was stored on a USB drive, which was now in Caleb's possession. If Sterling agreed to spare Caleb, Caleb would give him the USB drive.
But Sterling found it laughable and casually tossed the letter aside, saying, "Your mother was just a mistress. Do you think I would have any mercy for the son of a mistress?"
"Don't think I don't know your tricks. You imprisoned Beck, unable to forget his kindness while hating him for knowing all your secrets. You couldn't bring yourself to kill him, so you imprisoned him in a sanatorium, knowing he was ill but not treating him, letting him die of illness."
"This way, you could deceive yourself into thinking you didn't kill him. You can fool Bella and everyone else, but you can't fool me. You will face punishment one day, and I'll be waiting."
Caleb's face darkened immediately. He hadn't expected Sterling to know so much.
But what did it matter if Sterling knew? He was no longer afraid.
"Punishment? I've already suffered enough." Caleb suddenly glared at Sterling with rage, "It was your father who seduced my mother, making her fall deeply in love with him. But he was a coward, abandoning her when she was ill and penniless, while he enjoyed family bliss with you."
"When my mother begged him not to leave, he only said it was over, breaking her heart. He deserved to die for his sins. Why should we bear the consequences?"
"Sterling, do you know what it feels like to live in luxury while my mother and I lived like rats? As descendants of the Windsor family, you lived in splendor while we hid in a dark basement. Why? Why should you have everything while we lived in misery?"
Sterling felt no sympathy for Caleb's words and scoffed, "I told you, do you expect me to sympathize with a mistress and her son who destroyed my family? You brought this upon yourselves."
Caleb, enraged, said, "Sterling, don't think you can control everything from your high perch."
Caleb suddenly pulled out a stack of photos from his pocket and threw them in front of Sterling.
Sterling picked them up and his face immediately darkened, "How did you get these photos?"
Caleb saw the anger and astonishment on Sterling's face and felt a sense of revenge.
Caleb smiled with satisfaction, "These are nothing. I have even more explosive ones. Do you want them?"
Caleb threw another stack of photos in front of Sterling, who quickly picked them up, wishing he could kill Caleb right then and there.
"Do you have a death wish?" Sterling glared at Caleb with fury.
Caleb felt a sense of revenge, "I've worked hard to reach my current position. I don't want to be part of the Windsor family, and I despise the Windsor family. Every member of the Windsor family disgusts me."
Sterling clenched the photos, wishing he could break his fingers. He lowered his voice in anger, "What do you want?"
Caleb suddenly relaxed, crossing his legs and leaning back in his chair, "It's simple. Stay out of my business. I want to pursue Anna, and I know you've uncovered the truth about the Powell family. You'd better make sure Bella doesn't tell Anna the truth, and I'll give you the negatives of these photos. How about that?"
Sterling glared at Caleb, wishing he could tear him apart.
"And the truth about the plane crash, don't you want to know?" Caleb smiled smugly.
Caleb knew that the only things that could control Sterling were Bella and his parents.
Caleb sneered inwardly, Sterling had so many weaknesses, so he couldn't blame him.
