Chapter 217 Discharge from the Hospital
Anna frowned at her, "Why are you bringing this up again? Didn't you say you wanted to be with Sterling and make it work? You haven't even been discharged yet, and you're already talking about this?"
Bella closed her eyes in pain, "I don't want to either."
But she had made up her mind; she couldn't get over this hurdle in her heart.
"Anna, do you know? Not being able to have children means the Windsor family won't have an heir. Sterling can't go his whole life without children. The Windsor family's vast estate can't go without an heir. Even if Sterling doesn't mind, the Windsor family relatives won't agree."
Bella didn't want to face all the troublesome things in the future. She wanted to end things with Sterling.
She had previously thought about living a good life with Sterling, but that was based on the condition that the child was still there.
Now she was alone and couldn't do anything.
After hearing Bella's words, Anna wasn't surprised at all. She pondered for a moment and said, "Sterling won't agree. Why don't you talk to him first? If you can't reach an agreement, go through legal procedures. If you force a divorce, do you want anything?"
Bella shook her head, "I don't want anything. I'll leave with nothing. I was adopted by him, and he protected me and raised me safely. I owe him a lot. I won't take a dollar from the Windsor family, but I don't want to talk to him in court because... never mind, I'll talk to him first."
But Anna always felt that Sterling wouldn't agree. She didn't want to dampen Bella's resolve now, so she said nothing.
Bella looked at Anna and thought again about the car accident that day. She said with lingering fear, "Thank you, Anna. If it weren't for you that day, I might have left this world with the child. You are my savior now."
Anna smiled and said, "Yes, I am your savior now. You have to listen to me from now on."
"Okay, I'll listen to you from now on." Bella also smiled sincerely.
Now she just wanted to get discharged quickly and then talk to Sterling about the divorce.
Anna reached out and ruffled Bella's hair, "You rest well. I can be discharged tomorrow. After I'm discharged, I'll come to see you every day."
"Colin has been holding me back, not letting me out until I was almost fully recovered. That's why I haven't seen you for so many days."
At this point, Bella suddenly remembered that Sterling had told her about Caleb. This made her unable to smile. Bella tentatively asked, "Has Caleb come to see you?"
Anna looked at Bella in surprise, "Caleb? Why would you think of him? He hasn't come to the hospital to see me, but he did call and text me a few times."
Bella's heart tightened, "What did he say on the phone?"
"What else could he say? He knew I was in the hospital and wanted to see me, but I firmly refused." Anna shrugged indifferently.
Bella, still worried, asked, "Is Caleb still pestering you? Does he want to get back together with you? You mustn't agree."
Anna suddenly looked at Bella seriously, "Did you put a monitor in my phone?"
Hearing this, Bella knew Caleb must have said something to Anna.
Seeing Bella's nervous expression, Anna laughed, "Don't worry. He just talked about the past, said it was all his fault. From what I gathered, he wanted to apologize and reconcile, but you know me, I won't get involved with him again."
Bella sighed lightly, "Anna, you need to think clearly. Caleb is not worth forgiving."
Anna didn't catch the hint in Bella's words and just said, "Don't worry, I won't. You don't need to worry about me. You must have been seriously injured this time. Rest well, and I'll see you tomorrow."
Suddenly, the phone rang, startling Anna.
Seeing it was Colin calling, she said helplessly, "See, he's urging me again. I'll go back to my room. I'll be discharged tomorrow."
Bella nodded, "You should go."
Colin was standing in Anna's hospital room. When Anna appeared, Colin finally smiled, "You've been out for an hour."
Anna immediately said irritably, "I'm recovering, not working. How can you, as my boss, control me even when I'm sick?"
Colin replied, "You're on paid leave now. If you don't behave, I'll still deduct your pay."
At the mention of deducting pay, Anna compromised, like a little lamb, obediently returning to bed.
Colin was satisfied, "Alright, rest well. I'll have someone bring your meal later. You must finish it. I'll handle your discharge tomorrow. You don't need to rush back to work; you can rest at home for a few more days."
"Well, thank you so much, Mr. Rivera," Anna replied with a sarcastic tone.
Colin walked to the sofa by the window, picked up his laptop, and smirked, "Don't think about sneaking out. I'll know."
"Okay," Anna responded with a smile, and Colin left with his laptop.
As soon as he was gone, Anna's smile disappeared. He controlled everything about her. Was he her boss or her husband? Anna thought through gritted teeth, but why did she feel a bit sweet inside?
On the third day after Anna was discharged, Bella was brought to the psychological counseling room.
Bella didn't resist much because she knew she had psychological issues. She wasn't interested in anything, was unhappy every day, and kept thinking about the two lost children and her lost chance to be a mother.
Bella could see Sterling and Zoey's anxiety. They just didn't say anything. She had never been one to trouble others and hated causing problems for others.
So when Sterling tentatively suggested she undergo psychological treatment, she agreed.
Seeing Bella so obedient, Sterling felt extremely sad. He would rather Bella shout at him like before. At least that Bella was full of life, not like now, lifeless, like a puppet or a wilting flower.
But fortunately, Bella's psychological treatment and counseling were effective. Bella visibly became a bit happier and finally reached the standard for discharge.
For a long time, Bella and Sterling tacitly avoided mentioning the children and infertility.
