Chapter 418 Don't Turn Pretend into Reality

Sable grinned confidently. "Trust me, it'll work. How will you know if you don't give it a shot? You've got nothing to lose. Your wife left, but you two aren't divorced yet. And you haven't been caught up in any scandals. She just needs a little push."

Sterling glanced at Sable, feeling a flicker of gratitude. Maybe, as a woman, she really got what Bella was thinking. He leaned into her suggestion and decided to give it a try. "Alright, so how do we go about this?"

Sable jumped in eagerly. "No need to find someone else. I'll do it with you." Her eyes sparkled with determination and confidence.

Sterling was a bit taken aback by Sable's enthusiasm. He paused for a moment before slowly saying, "Okay, let's give it a shot. But remember, this is just an act. Don't take it too seriously."

Sable nodded, showing she understood. "Don't worry, Mr. Windsor. I know my boundaries."

That afternoon, as folks in the office building wrapped up their workday, the black Rolls-Royce parked at the entrance once again drew everyone's attention. Bella's eyes kept drifting to the car. More specifically, it was Sterling's car that caught her eye.

Even though their relationship was on the rocks, almost to the breaking point, Bella couldn't help but feel something whenever Sterling was around. Every move he made, every expression he wore, was like a magnet, pulling her in.

Bella knew that paying attention to him might be pointless now. Their issues were deep and tough to fix.

But whenever Sterling was around, she couldn't ignore him. Her heart was a mess of conflict and struggle, wanting to break free from the relationship but unable to let go of her feelings for him.

Bella took a deep breath, trying to steady herself. She knew that no matter what had happened or where they stood now, she needed to learn to let go and face reality.

When Bella saw Sterling and Sable walking out of the office building together, chatting happily, and getting into the back seat of the black Rolls-Royce, she felt a sharp pain in her heart.

Even though the evening sun wasn't as harsh as at noon, its rays were blinding, making it hard to look directly.

Isadora noticed the scene too. She pointed at Sable and curiously asked Bella, "Isn't that your husband's secretary? Is it normal for a secretary to be that close to her boss?" Isadora's words were filled with confusion and hit Bella's most sensitive nerve.

Bella had been trying to keep a calm and composed facade, but Isadora's words were like a key, unlocking the floodgates of her suppressed emotions. A wave of feelings surged, making her unusually agitated.

"It has nothing to do with me." Bella's voice trembled slightly, but she tried to keep her tone cold and firm.

However, no one knew the struggle and pain she felt inside. She knew she should let go and move on, but seeing Sterling and Sable so close made her heart ache with an indescribable bitterness and resentment.

Bella took a deep breath, trying to steady her emotions. She knew that no matter how much she struggled, she couldn't change the reality in front of her.

Isadora, sensing she might have touched a sensitive topic, chose to remain silent, not wanting to further upset Bella.

At that moment, Sterling's black Rolls-Royce slowly drove away from the office building and eventually stopped outside a dessert shop.

Ryan, Sterling's driver, got out of the car and walked into the shop, ordering desserts and coffee with practiced ease. "Two signature desserts, two coffees."

Bella overheard Ryan's order. When she heard "two," her brows furrowed slightly. "He's so stingy, only ordering two for three people?" Though she directed the comment at Ryan, Bella didn't realize her tone carried a hint of jealousy.

Isadora, observing Bella's reaction, understood a bit more. She gently patted Bella's shoulder, trying to comfort her. "Maybe he just didn't think there'd be others. Don't take it too hard. After all..." Isadora trailed off, knowing that continuing might make Bella feel worse.

Ryan's eyes flickered, and he simply nodded without saying more. His attitude gave Bella an indescribable feeling.

In the past, Ryan always respectfully called her "Mrs. Windsor," even before she and Sterling were married, he politely addressed her as "Ms. Grey." But now, Ryan seemed distant, as if she had suddenly become an outsider.

Bella felt a pang of sadness. She understood that it made sense for the Windsor family to treat her as an outsider now, but could those past connections and memories really be so easily severed?

Ryan's attitude left her feeling cold. She began to worry that if she saw Zoey and Owen again, they might also treat her like a stranger.

Thinking of this, Bella felt a wave of sorrow. After all, she was just a child Sterling had adopted, with no blood ties to the Windsor family.

Now that she had left the Windsor family, she had no ties to them. Once the Windsor family had a new mistress, she should completely step aside and not interfere in their lives.

However, when she left, Bella only thought about getting away from Sterling, not considering so much. Now she realized that giving up meant losing everything.

All the past, including those who had cared for her and accompanied her, would drift away as she left.

Bella closed her eyes lightly, trying to hold back her tears. She knew life was full of farewells and losses. But she couldn't accept that those who had once given her warmth and love would now ignore her.

Isadora, seeing Bella's pained expression, felt a mix of sympathy and helplessness. She gently patted Bella's shoulder in silent comfort.

Hearing Bella's cold words, "We're not selling today," Ryan felt a twinge of awkwardness. He hadn't expected the once gentle lady to be so cold to him now. But he said nothing more, just turned and left, returning to the car.

After the car had driven a bit, Ryan cautiously spoke up. "Mrs. Windsor said they're not selling today." His voice carried a hint of helplessness and awkwardness.
