Chapter 107 The Woman Who Occupied the Master Bedroom
Zoey couldn't stop laughing as she fed Sunny a piece of sausage. Overhearing their conversation, Bella found the whole situation pretty amusing.
Bella thought Nia was like a spoiled kid who never really grew up, a bit arrogant too.
But over the next few days, Bella started to think she might have been wrong about Nia.
When lunch was ready, Bella asked Zoey to tell Nia to come down and eat. Before long, Zoey stormed down, fuming, and immediately complained, "Mrs. Windsor, this Miss Getty is too much! Not only did she use Mr. Windsor's bathroom to shower, but now she's even wearing his clothes."
Bella frowned, "What? She's wearing Sterling's clothes?"
Bella knew Sterling had a serious case of germophobia. He really disliked Sunny, always thinking there were germs and bacteria, and hated anyone touching his stuff.
Bella was about to remind Nia when she saw her coming down, indeed wearing Sterling's T-shirt.
Nia was only wearing a pair of shorts underneath, with her long legs exposed. Sterling's shirt barely covered her hips.
Bella felt a wave of dizziness and immediately asked, "Nia, why are you wearing Sterling's clothes? He never likes anyone touching his things. You should take it off quickly."
Bella thought that even if she took it off, it should be thrown away. Otherwise, if Sterling found out, he would probably have a fit.
Nia waved her hand nonchalantly, "Don't worry about these little things. I used to wear Sterling's clothes all the time when I was little. He won't mind. What's for lunch? I'm starving."
Bella and Zoey were speechless.
Zoey said, "You said it yourself, that was when you were little. You might not know Mr. Windsor's temper now. If he comes back and finds you wearing his clothes, you might be kicked out of here."
Of course, Nia didn't believe Zoey.
Nia laughed and said, "Why are you so nagging? You're a servant of the Windsor family, not Sterling's mother. Why do you care so much? Even Sterling's wife doesn't care, why do you?"
Zoey's face flushed with anger at Nia's words.
Zoey looked at Bella angrily and said, "Mrs. Windsor, say something."
Bella was also angry, "Miss Getty, Zoey is a servant of the house, but she is also part of our family. Sterling treats Zoey like family too. Aren't you afraid Sterling will be angry if he knows you said this?"
What could Bella say? Assert her dominance? But Nia frequently brought up her childhood with Sterling, wasn't that another way of asserting dominance?
But Bella never cared to do such things. She could only sigh and say, "Forget it, Zoey. Let her wear it if she wants. Anyway, if Sterling comes back and gets mad, it's her who will get scolded, not me."
Zoey was trembling with anger, looking exasperated, and said, "Mrs. Windsor, why are you so tolerant?"
Bella wasn't angry at being told off, and she just smiled appeasingly. "I'm starving, let's eat."
Zoey instantly calmed down but she wouldn't let Nia off the hook.
Zoey went back to the kitchen, making a lot of noise. Then, Bella and Nia sat at the table in the living room to eat.
Bella placed the kitten on a nearby chair, feeding it fish snacks, not paying much attention to Nia.
After a bit, Nia called out, "Zoey, is there no salad? I can't get used to this, and it tastes too bland. Is there any salad, or something spicier?"
Zoey came out with a knife, looking expressionless, and said, "No, Mrs. Windsor just got out of the hospital, her health isn't great, so she can only eat bland food. Miss Getty, you'll have to make do."
Nia didn't want to make do, so she said, "Then can you make something just for me?"
Nia pointed at Bella and said to Zoey, "She eats what she wants, and I eat what I want. Can't we do that?"
Zoey said, "There are no such ingredients in the house. The food is all prepared by a nutritionist, according to Mrs. Windsor's needs. If you can't get used to it, you can cook for yourself or eat out."
Zoey's words were blunt, and Bella couldn't help but smile and shake her head. Zoey's temper was formidable, showing no respect for Nia whatsoever.
Nia was furious at Zoey's words, "How dare you talk to me like that? Do you believe I'll tell Sterling you mistreated me when he gets back?"
Zoey stepped forward, slammed the knife on the table, and repeated, "Miss Getty, how exactly have I mistreated you? I'm here to take care of Mrs. Windsor, not you. If you can't get used to the food I make, you can cook for yourself. Our meals are prepared on a schedule and portioned by a nutritionist. Mrs. Windsor's health is not good, she can only eat bland food, not heavy flavors. If you want to eat, figure it out yourself."
Nia, looking furious, put down her utensils and went upstairs. Bella saw Zoey was also angry, then she smiled and said, "Zoey, don't take Nia seriously. She's just a spoiled girl. Next time, let's just ignore her."
Zoey watched Nia go upstairs, her eyes filled with increasing dislike.
Zoey said, "If Mr. Windsor comes back, there will be a lot of trouble."
Bella didn't know Sterling's attitude towards Nia, but she seemed to understand Nia's intentions.
Since Bella came back from the hospital, she had been in a state of recuperation, so she went to bed early at night. To get enough rest, Bella went back to the master bedroom early.
When Bella went in, she saw Nia lying on her and Sterling's bed, sleeping.
Bella felt a moment of suffocation. She walked over and shook Nia awake. Nia opened her eyes and said, "What's wrong?"
Bella, scowling, asked, "Why are you sleeping here? This is my and Sterling's bedroom. Zoey has already prepared a guest room for you. Go sleep in the guest room."
Nia rubbed her eyes and said nonchalantly, "The guest room is too small, and I don't like the bed. I want to sleep here. If you don't mind, you can sleep in the guest room."
Bella instantly got angry and said, "I do mind, this is my master bedroom."
Nia, not caring at all, replied, "It's just sleeping in your bed, no need to be so petty. If Sterling comes back, he would let me sleep here too. Don't be so petty. If you really mind, you can sleep with me, I don't mind."
Nia finished speaking and, ignoring Bella's protests, immediately covered herself with the blanket and went back to sleep.
