Chapter 135 Colin's Kindness

Qiana crossed her arms and shot Anna a frosty glare. "You seriously have the guts to talk to me? You barely make enough in a month to buy me a handbag. And what about eating out, beauty treatments, or gambling?"

Anna was speechless. "Mom, have you forgotten you're not rich anymore? Can you please cut back on spending? Luxury items aren't necessary, so why do you need them? And I can't cook; can't you learn to make something yourself? You rely on me for everything. Do you know how hard it is for me to make money?"

Qiana cut her off, annoyed. "Enough. I don't want to hear it. If you don't want to get married, just give me money."

Anna's face flushed with anger. "Fine, Qiana. If you want to make a scene today, then I won't go to work, I won't make money, and I'll stay here and argue with you."

Furious, Qiana grabbed Anna's bag and took all the cash from it.

"This little bit of money isn't even enough for a game of poker," Qiana scoffed.

Anna was so mad she almost fainted. "Qiana, can you be reasonable? Do you still want to live like a rich person? I'm telling you, if you keep this up, I won't support you anymore. I can't afford it. I make $20,000 a month, and I have to pay rent, eat, drink, and support you. Can you stop spending so extravagantly?"

This was all the money Anna had, and now she didn't even have money for lunch.

Qiana was also angry and said, "Don't think you can get rid of me."

Anna was completely drained, both physically and mentally, and didn't want to argue anymore. She said, "Just go home and wait for me. I'll give you money after I get paid from my part-time job today, okay?"

It took a lot of talking for Anna to finally get Qiana to leave. She sighed and wearily returned to the office.

Anna wondered why so many bad things had happened so early in the morning. Seeing Qiana was even more distressing than waking up at Colin's place.

Anna was distracted all morning until the manager suddenly shouted, "Anna, Mr. Rivera wants to see you."

The manager's shout made everyone in the office look at Anna. She instantly felt nervous, not knowing what Colin wanted now.

Anna lowered her head, ignoring the scrutinizing and disdainful looks from the other women in the office, and quietly entered Colin's office.

As soon as she entered, she asked with a grim expression, "Mr. Rivera, what do you want? Is there something you need?"

Colin noticed her bad mood, probably because of her mother earlier. He said, "Was that woman I saw this morning your mom?"

"Yeah," Anna responded with a blank expression.

Anna put on a professional smile. "Mr. Rivera, what do you need from me?"

Colin handed her a bank card. Anna looked at him, puzzled. "What does this mean?"

Colin said, "Didn't you agree to be my personal assistant? This card has my living expenses, and your hourly wage will be deducted from it. From now on, you'll handle my groceries, daily necessities, and clothes. You can use the money as you see fit, just give me a monthly report."

Anna looked at Colin in disbelief. "Are you serious?"

Colin raised an eyebrow and said, "What? If you don't want this high-paying job, I'll find someone else." He pretended to take back the card.

Anna quickly grabbed the card. "I'll do it. Mr. Rivera, you are so generous; I'd be a fool not to. I can start today."

Seeing Anna's silly smile, Colin suddenly felt much better.

Colin handed her a document and said, "Take this document to the Skyline Group and get Micah to sign it. Bella is there, so you can have lunch with her and relax a bit."

Anna was surprised by Colin's suggestion. She hesitated for a moment before taking the document. "Thank you, Mr. Rivera."

Colin watched Anna leave the office with the document and inexplicably smiled. He had seen the whole scene with her mother at the door and was genuinely curious about their relationship.

Colin had heard everything and saw Qiana take all her money.

Colin was puzzled by how he couldn't stop thinking about Anna's distressed and broken look all morning, yet she still managed to smile and work with her colleagues. It felt like claws were scratching at his heart.

Finally, Colin couldn't resist calling Anna up. It was just a matter of money, and he had plenty of it.

Seeing Anna smile made Colin realize that money could indeed be a good thing, and he suddenly felt much better.

Anna left the company and went to the Skyline Group. On the way, she took out the bank card Colin had given her and stared at it. Suddenly, a warm tear fell on the card.

Anna knew Colin had found an excuse to lend her money, fearing she wouldn't accept it otherwise, so he mentioned the personal assistant job.

Anna cried and laughed, thinking that Colin, who seemed so annoying, was actually a kind person inside.

Since Colin didn't expose the truth, she would pretend not to know and do her best as his personal assistant.

When Bella arrived at the restaurant where she and Anna had agreed to meet, she saw Anna slumped over the table, looking listless.

Bella sat down and asked, "What's wrong? You look so down. Aren't you an energetic girl? Why are you so unhappy today?"

Anna looked at Bella and said gloomily, "Bella, I feel so tired."

Bella immediately got worried. "Is your mom forcing you to go on blind dates again, trying to sell you to a rich man?"

Anna said, "No, but she spent all my savings again. Bella, do you know why I didn't have money to pay your hospital bill last time? I had saved a lot of money, but when I went back to get it for your surgery, I found out my mom had spent it all. I was really devastated, Bella. I'm so sorry."

Every time Anna thought about it, she felt heartbroken and guilty.

Bella thought for a moment and said, "How long ago was that? Why are you still mentioning it? I didn't even care about it, okay? Don't make yourself so miserable."

Anna said, "I don't want to be like this either. Anyway, let's not talk about it."

Anna didn't want to talk about Qiana anymore, but she remembered another issue that was also troubling her.
