Chapter 131 Personal Assistant

Colin quickly handed Anna a tissue as she continued to sob. "And my mom, she's been living the high life forever. When my dad was around, she was all about luxury, spending money like it was nothing, and never lifting a finger."

"But what about me? I was a rich kid too. After the Powell family fell apart, I had to take care of my mom every day and still go to work to support her. I was so exhausted, I could barely get five hours of sleep a night."

"But my mom? She just took my money and kept asking for more. I finally saved up some cash, and you know, when Bella needed surgery money last time, I went back to get it only to find out my mom had blown it all. Do you know how desperate I felt then?"

"Bella was in the hospital, and I couldn't even scrape together 100 bucks. My mom took my money to gamble and buy luxury stuff. You remember that 2 million dollars I mentioned last time? Guess where that went. My mom even tried to marry me off to some rich guy, introducing me to all sorts of men."

"Every time I got my paycheck, she'd cry and ask for money. I used to do part-time jobs to get by, but you wouldn't let me. I still have to pay thousands in rent every month. I feel like my life is over, you know? There's no hope, just despair. Sometimes I wonder why I didn't die with my dad back then."

Colin watched Anna sobbing, feeling a sharp pain in his heart. Thinking about what he had said to Anna earlier, he now felt regretful.

By the end, Anna was feeling quite lightheaded.

Colin said, "Don't say that. Life only happens once; don't let thoughts of death consume you."

Anna glared at him and said, "I'm not thinking about dying. I'm talking about my mom. Why didn't she die with my dad back then? Why did she stay to torment me? Do you know what kind of life I'm living now?"

Colin was stunned for a moment. He had never been able to keep up with Anna's thought. He thought for a moment and said, "Anna, I have a job with a high hourly wage. Will you consider it?"

Anna looked at Colin with a confused expression, "Are you trying to trick me again? Last time you said you could help me sell wine, and now what do you want me to do?"

Colin said, "I'm not lying to you. I need a personal assistant. Will you consider it?"

Anna, already drunk, said, "What kind of assistant? Aren't I already an assistant at the company?"

Colin patiently explained, "I mean a personal assistant, a part-time job after work to help with daily chores."

Anna suddenly understood and said angrily, "Colin, I didn't expect you to be like this. How are you different from those people who come here for fun? Pretending to offer a job, but actually wanting me to sell myself. Let me tell you, Colin, I'd rather be dead broke than sell myself out."

Colin was fuming. "What are you talking about? I meant a personal assistant to cook and clean after work. What do you think I am?"

Anna looked up at him, her eyes bleary. "Colin, are you sure you're not messing with me? Do you think I can cook? If you don't mind my terrible cooking or eating bread every day, maybe I'll consider it. No, you might consider it."

It was clear Anna was drunk and not fully aware of what she was saying.

Colin thought for a moment and said, "Fine, bread it is."

He glanced at Anna, who had downed almost half the wine on the table, and felt a headache coming on. He had ordered the wine casually, not expecting that he wouldn't drink a drop and Anna would drink it all. The wine was strong.

When Colin helped Anna stand up, he realized she was still wearing that bunny costume from last time, very revealing, exposing a lot of her skin.

Colin rubbed his forehead in frustration and finally managed to get Anna into the car, asking her where she wanted to go.

Anna just sat in the passenger seat, crying non-stop, saying, "I don't want to go home."

Colin laughed and said, "Don't want to go home? Beg me, or act cute? I'll take you to my place."

He intended to tease Anna a bit. Unexpectedly, Anna suddenly opened her eyes, which sparkled like stars, and softly pleaded, "Colin, please take me to your place."

This struck Colin deeply.

Meanwhile, Sterling was sitting on the living room sofa, watching work on his tablet while constantly checking the time. It was almost 9 PM.

Nia, sitting nearby, was also observing him closely. Finally, she couldn't hold back and walked over, saying, "Sterling, aren't you going to pick up your precious wife? It's so late, aren't you afraid someone might take her away?"

Sterling snorted and said, "Why should I go pick her up?"

Nia smiled and said, "Alright, stubborn man. When your silly, naive wife gets tricked, you'll be the one crying."

Sterling said, "Silly, naive? She's not like that. She's smart."

Although Sterling said this, he suddenly put away his tablet, as if he had been waiting for Nia to give him an excuse. He put down the tablet and said, "I'm going out to check."

Nia laughed behind his back, "If you can't let it go, just say so. Why find an excuse?" Nia suddenly found Sterling quite endearing. Although he had changed a lot over the years, his inherent gentleness hadn't changed.

Sterling was gentle with the girl he liked, but Bella hadn't experienced Sterling's gentleness yet. Someday in the future, he would spoil Bella.

When Sterling drove to Micah's company, he saw Bella and Micah walking out of the building together.

Sterling noticed Bella's face adorned with a sweet smile as she chatted with Micah.

Micah noticed Sterling's car and said to Bella, "Go on, your husband is here to pick you up."

Bella then saw Sterling's car parked not far away. She smiled and said, "Goodbye, Mr. Hughes."

Then she ran towards Sterling's car. Sterling got out of the car, watching Bella run towards him.

Bella ran so fast that she slowed down only when she reached him. Seeing her dressed lightly, Sterling instinctively opened his coat and hugged her.
