Chapter 115

Adrian's expression changed slightly, quickly asking his wife to bring his raincoat.

"Miss Redstone, I'll go to take a look first; you all stay here for now."

Seeing Adrian's serious expression, Gianna nodded, "Alright, Mr. Storm, stay safe."

Adrian didn't say anything more; he put on his raincoat and left with the man.

Gianna and the others had planned to return once the rain lessened; but to their surprise, the rain had not stopped all night; and Adrian had not returned either.

On the other side, news of the heavy rain in Maple Valley had become a hot topic.

After a night of continuous rain, many people in Maple Valley woke up to find the water on the roads had risen to half a meter high. The subway and buses had stopped running, causing the entire city to come to a standstill.

Upon seeing the news, Felix immediately called Gianna; but her phone was continuously switched off.

His eyes turned cold as he called Sophia into the office, "Prepare a helicopter, I'm going to Maple Valley."

Sophia looked shocked and said, "Felix, Maple Valley is still experiencing heavy rain; and there have been reports of landslides in several areas. It's dangerous to go there! And even if you go, there's no guarantee you'll find Miss Redstone!"

Felix looked at her coldly and said, "You talk too much!"

"Felix!"

"Get it ready immediately! I won't ask again!"

Half an hour later, a helicopter slowly rose from the rooftop of the Clinton Group building and flew towards Maple Valley.

In Sunnydale Meadows, several households near the foothills had already been flooded.

Adrian swiftly led the villagers to move their important belongings to higher ground, everyone's expressions grave.

They had never seen such heavy rain before and had no idea how long it would last. The dark sky seemed like a gaping maw, ready to devour everything.

Gianna and the others' phones had run out of battery the previous night. They sat by the window, watching the rain pour down just as heavily as the night before, each with a different expression on their faces.

Zoey looked worried and said, "I don't know how long this rain will last. I hope it doesn't flood over here."
Adrian's wife brought breakfast over and reassured, "Miss Zoey, don't worry. Our place is on a higher ground, so it won't flood here."

Despite her words, there was still a hint of concern in her eyes.

Just as they were about to have breakfast, a drenched person hurriedly ran over.

"Adrian is injured, you should go see him."

Upon hearing this, Adrian's wife turned pale. "Where is he?"

"He's at Ava Thompson's home now."

Adrian's wife rushed into the rain without hesitation. The person who delivered the message was about to follow her; but Gianna suddenly spoke up, "I'll go with you."

This statement shocked everyone present.

"Miss Redstone, the floodwaters are rising. No one can take care of you if you go. It's safer to stay here."

"I have some basic first aid knowledge; and I can help Mr. Storm with his injuries first."

The road into the village was blocked by a landslide last night, making it impossible to get Adrian out for treatment now.

"Alright, then come with me," Gianna said.

Gianna turned to Zoey and Otis, saying, "You two stay here. Otis, take care of Zoey if anything comes up."

Otis nodded, "Sure, Gianna, be safe."

Without saying anything more, Gianna followed the villagers as they left.

They soon arrived at Ava's house, where Adrian had accidentally hurt his leg while helping villagers move things. The wound wasn't deep but quite long, bleeding profusely and looking frightening.

Jonah was handling Adrian's wound with a first aid kit, which must have been brought by him as the villagers would not have such a thing prepared.

Gianna walked over and crouched down in front of Jonah and said, "Let me do it."

Jonah looked surprised. "Why are you here?"

"I've learned some first-aid knowledge. I heard that Mr. Storm was injured, so I came to check.."

While speaking, Gianna took the disinfection tools from Jonah and skillfully treated Adrian's wound.

Ten minutes later, after bandaging Adrian's wound, Gianna was just about to pack up the first-aid kit when a man suddenly ran in..

"Just now, Emma went back to get something; but she hasn't returned yet. It seems like the flood has reached Emma's house!"

The people present all turned pale, exchanging glances without speaking.

If the flood hadn't reached them yet, they would have gone to bring Emma back. However, none of them were swimmers; and the water was rising rapidly. Going now would be risking their lives.

In the midst of silence, Jonah suddenly stood up and said, "I'll go check."

As soon as he spoke, Gianna interjected, "I'll go with you."

Jonah frowned, saying firmly, "No, it's too dangerous!"

He was fine going alone, but Gianna, being a girl and someone he cared for, he didn't want her to take the risk.

"It's the same dangerous if you go alone."

"I won't let you go, no matter what!"

Seeing Jonah's determination, Gianna pursed her lips and said, "Alright."

Jonah quickly disappeared into the rain; and after getting directions to Emma's house, Gianna turned to leave as well.

Adrian, who had been silent, couldn't hold back anymore. "I didn't speak earlier because everyone has families. I didn't want to pressure you all; but now even Miss Redstone, an outsider, is willing to risk her life to save Emma. How can you all just stand there like mute spectators?"

Gianna turned to Adrian calmly. "Mr. Storm, this is my choice. I hope you won't use it to pressure others. Rest assured, Jonah and I will bring Emma back safely."

Ever since the day Gianna accidentally bumped into Emma at the village entrance, Emma had been sending things to Jonah, occasionally including some for Gianna.

Feeling Emma's kindness, Gianna was willing to go save her.

If it were someone else, Gianna might have just watched from the sidelines. After all, there was too much uncertainty in the face of natural disasters; and no one wanted to risk their lives to save others.

Then, Gianna walked into the rain.

When Gianna arrived at Emma's house, half of it was already submerged.

Jonah was waist-deep in water, struggling to move forward while holding up a plank.

Emma, pale and shivering, sat on the board, completely soaked. It was unclear if she was trembling due to fear or cold..

Upon seeing Gianna, Jonah's eyes widened in shock, his voice tinged with anger. "Didn't I tell you not to follow me?!"

It was the first time Jonah had snapped at Gianna; but she ignored him and jumped into the water, swimming towards the two of them.

"I'll take Emma to the shore first. Can you swim?"

The water had reached Jonah's chest; and at his current pace, both he and Emma would be submerged soon.

"You take Emma over. I'll make my own way," he said.

Gianna wasted no time, holding Emma in one hand and swimming towards the shore with the other.

In the pouring rain, Jonah couldn't see her expression clearly; but he knew her eyes must be filled with determination. It was similar to the time when Jonah was bullied by an investor who forced him to kneel and drink. Gianna had smashed the glass, walked up to him, extended her hand, and introduced herself, asking him if he wanted to be her employee.

At that moment, Gianna's eyes were shining. Although she was just a girl under twenty, she gave Jonah a sense of reliance.

Jonah held Gianna's hand, walking from darkness into light.

The water level rose rapidly, soon submerging up to his chin, then his lips, and nose.

Seeing Gianna successfully bring Emma to the shore, Jonah finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Thankfully, she made it to the shore.

After setting Emma down, Gianna turned to look into the water, but didn't see Jonah's figure.

Her expression changed. "Emma, you go to Ava's house first. I'll find your Jonah Brother and come back."

Emma grabbed her sleeve, tears already falling. "Gianna, will Jonah Brother die? I don't want him to leave me."
