Chapter 161
"How about letting Faith handle it? Even if you don't work, I can support you for a lifetime."
Gianna's eyes showed no warmth, and her voice was cold. "I work because I enjoy it, not because I can't support myself."
"Even if you enjoy it, you can't continue working when you're sick. Today, you can't go anywhere. You must rest well!"
"Felix, I don't want to argue with you. Those contracts are really important, and I'm not as lucky as Bella, who easily gets billions in funding!"
Silence filled the ward. After a while, Felix looked at her and asked, "Are you jealous?"
"Hardly have time for that."
"Regardless, you're not touching work today."
After saying that, right in front of Gianna, he called for two bodyguards to stand outside the ward.
Gianna clenched her teeth in anger. "By what right do you restrict my freedom?"
"Being your boyfriend gives me the right. Plus, you're not well yet."
Gianna coldly turned her head aside, and after a moment of anger, she called Faith and asked her to bring the contracts over.
Little did she know that Faith, as if in agreement with Felix, directly said, "Gianna, rest well today. I'll handle the contracts."
"These contracts are very important. You must be careful."
"I understand. Don't worry. I promise not to make any mistakes," said Faith.
After hanging up the phone, Gianna looked at Felix displeased. "I won't be going back to the company today. You can leave now, right?"
Felix nodded, got up, and left directly.
A sense of inexplicable grievance surged in Gianna's heart as she watched Felix's back.
Although Gianna was dissatisfied with Felix's domineering attitude, having him by her side when she was sick still touched her in some way.
Gianna didn't expect that by asking him to leave, Felix would actually go!
But Gianna also didn't want to ask Felix to stay, so she averted her gaze and stopped looking at him.
The ward door opened and closed, enveloping the entire room in silence.
Half an hour later, just as Gianna was dozing off, the ward door suddenly pushed open, startling her awake.
Seeing Felix return, Gianna furrowed her brows. "Why are you back?"
Felix, as if not noticing Gianna's displeased expression, walked to the bedside, opened a small table, and took out a bowl of hot soup from the food box.
"You didn't eat lunch. The doctor said you should have something light, so I bought some chicken soup."
Gianna couldn't believe her ears. "You went to buy chicken soup just now?"
"Of course, why not?"
While speaking, Felix handed the spoon to Gianna.
Gianna pursed her lips, feeling a bit hungry now.
"Thank you." Gianna took the spoon and sipped the soup, feeling a warmth in a certain part of her heart.
After Gianna finished the soup, Felix made her eat some fruit puree, then tidied up and sat down by the bedside.
"Is your stomach still hurting?"
Gianna shook her head. "It's much better now."
"Good. Regarding the investment in LR Design Studio, I didn't know you were the CEO of MY FASHION at the time, and this was something I owed her before..."
Before Felix could finish his sentence, Gianna calmly interrupted him, "I don't want to hear about your past with her. I hope you can keep your promises to me."
Felix fell silent for a moment, then nodded. "Okay."
The previously warm atmosphere turned somewhat cold when Felix mentioned Bella.
Neither of them spoke further, both aware that Bella was a thorn between them, always pricking them inadvertently.
Whether or not this thorn could be removed lay in Felix's hands.
After the IV drip, the doctor prescribed some medication for Gianna, and Felix escorted her back to the villa.
"You go rest in the bedroom. Call me if you need anything. I'll be in the study."
Gianna pursed her lips and said slowly, "I feel much better now. You can go to the office. Everything will be fine."
"No need. I can work in the study too."
Seeing Felix's insistence, Gianna nodded and headed back to the bedroom.
Gianna lay down to rest and soon fell asleep. In a daze, it seemed like Felix entered the bedroom and then left shortly after.
When she woke up again, it was almost dark outside.
Gianna sat up slowly. As soon as she turned on the light, she saw a glass of warm milk on the bedside table.
Gianna got up, freshened up, and decided to sit in the living room for a while.
As soon as she opened the bedroom door, a delicious aroma of food wafted in.
Gianna was surprised and walked to the kitchen door, where she caught sight of someone in an apron, busily cooking away.
While Gianna was still in a daze, Felix turned around and saw her standing at the door, saying, "You go watch TV first. Dinner will be ready soon."
"Okay."
A few minutes later, Felix brought the soup to the table and called out to Gianna, who was watching TV in the living room.
"Dinner's ready."
Gianna got up and walked to the dining table, where three dishes and a soup were laid out, looking appetizing. Even someone as picky as she felt tempted.
"You cook so well?"
"I followed the recipe. It may not be delicious."
Gianna took a bite of the fish and smiled. "It's delicious."
"Then eat more."
Felix's expression was calm, but there was a hint of a smile in his eyes. He was clearly pleased by Gianna's words.
After dinner, Gianna wanted to take care of the dishes, but Felix stopped her.
"You go rest on the sofa. I'll take care of it."
"I'm feeling much better now."
"Doesn't matter."
With Felix's insistence, Gianna nodded and went to the sofa.
Just as she sat down on the sofa, the doorbell rang.
It was Ximena. Her expression changed when she saw Felix doing the dishes. "Felix, put down the bowl. You're the CEO of Clinton Group. How can you waste time doing this!"
As she spoke, Ximena glared at Gianna.
Housework should be a woman's job, but here was Gianna sitting on the sofa watching TV, making Felix do these things!
Felix didn't pause in his actions, calmly saying, "Mom, do you have something to say?"
Seeing Felix not listening to her, Ximena tried to help but was rejected by Felix.
Only after loading the dishes into the dishwasher and washing his hands did Felix step out of the kitchen and look at the somewhat absent-minded Ximena, saying, "Let's talk in the study."
The two entered the study, and soon, Ximena came out.
As she was leaving, Ximena couldn't help but look at Gianna and say, "Housework is a woman's job. Felix is busy with work. Don't let him waste time on these things next time."
Gianna and Ximena were maintaining a superficial peace, but upon hearing this, Gianna responded directly, "Mrs. White, if you don't like it, you can hire a maid for Mr. Clinton."
"You!"
Ximena glared at Gianna with anger, coldly saying, "If it were Belle, she would never let Felix do these things!"
Gianna found it somewhat amusing and replied to Ximena, "Then ask Bella how much it would cost to hire her as a maid for a month. I'm sure Mr. Clinton can afford it."
"Don't push it!"
Gianna furrowed her brows, about to speak, when Felix's icy voice cut in.
"Mom, this is between Gianna and me. If you don't like it, you can visit less often in the future."
Ximena looked at Felix with disbelief and sadness in her eyes.
"Felix, I'm doing this for your good, and you're siding with Gianna against me?"
