Chapter 337

Seeing the stubborn look in Felix's eyes, James just kept his mouth shut for a while.

James finally said, "Mr. Clinton, Miss Redstone..."

Felix snapped, "Shut it! I told you, it can't be her! She's gotta be alive, hiding somewhere, waiting for us to find her. Get everyone searching right now. We have to find her!"

"Mr. Clinton, the coroner already ID'd her. The necklace on the body is Miss Redstone's, and the body shape matches hers almost exactly."

Felix glared at him. "You said 'almost'! That means there's still a chance. Keep looking for her!"

Seeing how worked up Felix was, James sighed and did as he was told.

Anyway, the DNA from the body had already been compared with Gianna's, and the results would be out soon.

By then, even if Felix didn't want to believe it, he'd have to face the truth.

The search went on for three days and nights, but Gianna was still MIA. However, the DNA report finally came in.

James handed the report to Felix and said quietly, "Mr. Clinton, this is the DNA result for the female corpse and Miss Redstone."

Felix hadn't slept in three days. His hair was a mess, his eyes were bloodshot. He looked like a wreck, nothing like his usual sharp self.

He took the report with shaking hands and slowly flipped to the last page.

When he saw the final line, his body wobbled, and he started shaking uncontrollably. He gripped the report tighter.

Felix asked, "James, did I read it wrong? Check it again for me."

James took the report, glanced at it, and said softly, "Boss, you didn't read it wrong. Miss Redstone is gone."

"No way. How could she be dead?"

After eight years with Felix, it was the first time he saw him cry.

Felix didn't cry when he got booted from the Clinton Group after a car crash, didn't cry when his first love Bella ditched him, didn't cry when Thomas screwed him over and left him with nothing, and didn't cry when the Clinton Group almost went under.

But when he confirmed Gianna's death, he looked lost, like a kid who couldn't find his way home, not even realizing he was crying.

Felix sat in the Clinton Group office all night. The next morning, when James came in, everything seemed back to normal.

Felix stopped sending people to look for Gianna. Everything went back to how it was before she left, and he even worked more efficiently.

No one dared to mention Gianna in front of Felix again. Her name became a taboo in the Clinton Group.

On the day of Gianna's funeral, James hesitated for a long time before knocking on Felix's office door.

James said, "Mr. Clinton, today is Miss Redstone's funeral. Aren't you going to go?"

Felix didn't look up, his expression unchanged. "No."

James didn't push it, just said quietly, "We've tracked down Thomas and should catch him in a few days."

Felix replied, "Okay, I need to review these documents. You can go now."

As James turned to leave, he saw Felix's hand gripping the document so hard it turned pale and creased.

James sighed softly and quickly left the office.

Once the office was quiet again, Felix put down the document, closed his bloodshot eyes, and a tear slid down his cheek.

He rested his arm on his forehead, looking like he'd aged ten years in an instant.

It had been almost half a month since Thomas burned Gianna to death, but Felix still couldn't wrap his head around it.

After leaning back in his chair for what felt like forever, Felix finally got up, grabbed his coat, and bolted out of the Clinton Group.

Meanwhile, over at Gianna's funeral...

There were only a handful of people: Faith, Garrett, and a few folks from MY FASHION. No one from the Redstone family bothered to show up.

Faith, clutching the urn, cursed with red eyes, "The Redstone family is a bunch of heartless bastards! Gianna should've never gone back to them! And Felix, I heard that when Thomas captured Gianna and that witch Bella, he made Felix choose who'd live, and Felix picked that witch Bella! I never wanna see him again!"

Garrett, standing next to her, also had red eyes, his fists clenched tight. "When Gianna took those Dreamwell Capsules to save Natalie, I was scared Felix would let her down. Didn't think he'd turn out to be such a jerk!"

Just then, a cold voice cut through the air, "What Dreamwell Capsules are you talking about?"

Both turned their heads to see Felix standing at the door, looking sharp as ever, like Gianna's death hadn't touched him at all.

Faith gritted her teeth and glared at him. "Get out! Don't dirty this place!"

Thinking about how Felix chose Bella over Gianna, leading to Gianna's death, Faith was filled with rage and hatred. If it weren't for the funeral, she would've slapped him!

Felix ignored her and walked step by step to Garrett, staring him down. "What Dreamwell Capsules?"

His eyes were dark, almost empty.

Garrett sneered, "What's the point of asking now, Mr. Clinton? Gianna's dead. Even if I tell you, she ain't coming back."

Felix looked at him coldly and threatened, "Garrett, you got two choices: tell me the truth, or your hospital's getting shut down tomorrow."

Garrett mocked, "If Gianna knew you were threatening me like this, she'd regret doing so much for you."

Felix continued, "Last chance."

Garrett laughed mockingly and slowly said, "Fine, I'll tell you. To save your grandma, Gianna broke Herb Valley's rules and forced her way in. Foster agreed to save your grandma, but Gianna's punishment was to take the Dreamwell Capsules. This drug causes unbearable pain every midnight, making one wish for death. A man I knew once killed himself 'cause he couldn't take it. Foster made a medicine for her and gave her the prescription. As long as she took it on time every day, the pain would ease. But Gianna was captured for two days without the medicine, making the drug's effects go wild. So, death might've been a relief for her."

Felix stood there, motionless, all emotions draining from his eyes, leaving only hopelessness.

Turned out, the box Garrett brought her had the medicine, and when Ximena was having surgery, Gianna disappeared for over an hour because of the drug's effects.

Gianna silently endured the pain every day, but Felix knew nothing about it.

Outside, it started pouring rain. Felix turned and stumbled into the downpour, his figure lonely and desolate.

After Gianna's funeral, Faith and Garrett buried the ashes in a plot and left after standing there for a while.

Meanwhile, at Bella's place...

Bella had already given birth and was chilling at home.

Hearing that today was Gianna's funeral, she felt a surge of excitement. Bella thought, 'Gianna's really dead, and now no one will compete with me for Felix anymore!'
