Chapter 329

Naomi clenched her jaw and snapped, "You can't ditch the Forbes family, but what about Mom and me? If you kick the bucket, what are we supposed to do?"

Jack's eyes flickered with pain. "Naomi, don't push me!"

Naomi shot back, "It's not me pushing you; it's the Forbes family that doesn't deserve it. You've been locked up for ages, did they send anyone to save you? I bet in their minds, you've already betrayed them!"

"Enough. Shut up!" Jack yelled.

Naomi let out a cold laugh, her eyes icy. "Think about it. You've been busting your butt for the Forbes family for years, thinking they'd look out for Mom and me. But what happened? They haven't given a damn about us! If it weren't for you showing up this time, they'd have lied to you forever. You might die one day without even knowing how Mom and I survived those rough days!"

Jack fell silent. After a while, he slowly said, "Naomi, I almost died a bunch of times on missions before, and it was the Forbes family that saved me. I've already told Felix that the one backing me is the Forbes family for you. I can't spill any more of their secrets, or I'd rather die now!"

Naomi replied, "Fine, if you want to die, then Mom and I will die with you!"

"Naomi!"

Jack's eyes were blazing with anger, but Naomi stared back at him fearlessly, her eyes set.

In the end, Jack looked away and lowered his head. "Naomi, you and Mom should just consider me dead and stop worrying about me."

Naomi continued, "Jack, the Forbes family saved you just to keep you working for them. They can't even keep their promises to you. Do you think they have any real feelings for you? You don't want to betray the Forbes family, but Felix won't let Mom and me go."

After a long silence, Jack finally said in a hoarse voice, "Fine, I'll tell Felix everything about the Forbes family, but I won't live after that."

Upon hearing this, Naomi's face turned pale, and she gritted her teeth. "Mom just found out you're back. Can you bear to let her hear about your death?"

Jack retorted, "I don't want to talk about this anymore. Just go."

Seeing Jack close his eyes, unwilling to look at her, Naomi bit her lower lip and said word by word, "If you die, Mom and I won't live either. You choose!"

Jack's body stiffened, but he still didn't speak, as if he hadn't heard her.

After Naomi left, Felix soon walked into the basement.

He stayed inside for a full hour before coming out, looking at Naomi with an indifferent expression. "You can take him away, but it seems he doesn't want to live anymore."

Naomi's thin body swayed, almost falling. "I understand. Thanks, Mr. Clinton."

Even if Jack really died, she couldn't blame Felix, after all, it was Jack who pushed Ximena onto the road first.

Naomi walked into the basement and saw Jack surrounded by a lifeless aura, as if all his energy had been drained.

Naomi said, "Jack, I'm taking you home."

Jack didn't say anything, just let her take him away.

After they left, James looked worried. "Mr. Clinton, if we just let Jack go like this, will he escape?"

Felix's expression was indifferent. "He has no value anymore, and after being locked up for so many days, the Forbes family can guess that he has probably confessed everything. They won't keep him."

James asked, "So we just let him go?"

Felix ordered, "Send someone to keep an eye on him. If anyone from the Forbes family shows up, nab them immediately."

"Got it."

At the hospital, in Ximena's ward.

"Ximena, how you holding up? Did the doc say when you can bounce?" Bella sat by the bedside, looking at Ximena with concern, but her expression was cold.

Ximena replied, "About half a month. Bella, you're about to pop. You don't need to come see me next time."

Noticing her aloofness, Bella's smile froze for a moment.

Bella continued, "It's my duty to come see you. Let me peel an apple for you!"

Ximena pursed her lips, a trace of displeasure flashing in her eyes.

To be honest, she didn't really want to see Bella. Bella's presence always reminded her of the disgusting memories of being locked in Thomas's basement, and Bella was pregnant with Thomas's child. She had to hold back her anger to avoid snapping at Bella.

Ximena said, "Bella, you don't need to do that. The nurse can handle it. Just keep me company and chat."

"Okay."

Bella was just putting on a show anyway, so she put down the fruit knife as soon as Ximena spoke.

Suddenly, she felt her phone vibrate in her bag.

Bella took out her phone and saw a text message from Thomas, her expression changing instantly.

"Bella, if you have something to do, don't worry about me. I actually want to rest."

Bella replied, "Alright, Ximena, I'll come see you next time."

With that, Bella grabbed her bag and hurriedly left.

As soon as she walked out of the hospital, Thomas's call came through.

Bella gritted her teeth and answered, "Didn't I tell you not to contact me again?"

Thomas chuckled lightly and said slowly, "I have a way to get rid of Gianna and secure a place for you in Felix's heart. Want to hear it?"

Suspicion flashed in Bella's eyes. "Are you really being kind?"

Thomas replied, "It's not for you. It's for the kid you're carrying."

After a few seconds of silence, Bella said coldly, "Give me an address!"

After Thomas gave her an address, Bella hung up the phone and took a cab to leave.

Not long after Bella left, a doctor walked into the ward with a document. "Ximena, the test results you wanted are out."

Ximena quickly sat up, took the report, and eagerly flipped to the last page.

Seeing that the DNA sequences of the two parties did not match for a parent-child relationship, she was stunned.

Immediately, a chill rose from her feet.

Ximena thought, 'If Felix isn't my son, then where's my son? And why does Felix look so much like Connor?'

One question after another came to her mind, leaving Ximena in shock. No one could accept that the son they had raised for over twenty years wasn't their own child.

Seeing her pale face, the doctor beside her quickly asked, "Ximena, are you okay? Whose DNA is this?"

Ximena snapped back to reality and quickly shook her head. "I'm fine. I'm a bit tired. I'll treat you to a meal another day. You go ahead."

Even though he was suspicious, the doctor didn't ask further and left with a nod.

Ximena, with trembling hands, dialed Connor's number and gritted her teeth. "Where are you? Get to the hospital now!"

Without giving Connor a chance to speak, she hung up the phone.

Ximena looked at the test results again, her hands unconsciously tightening, crumpling the report.
