Chapter 418

Grant looked at her and said calmly, "No matter what, I'm grateful that you saved my mom once. If you ever need my help in the future, as long as it doesn't go against my principles, I'll help you."

Seeing the seriousness in his eyes, Jennifer was momentarily stunned. Her mind flashed back to her freshman year when she was a new student registering for school. He was the senior at the registration desk who helped her register and even carried her luggage to her dorm.

Even though he had been working for a few years, he was still the same as back then.

It was she who had changed.

Or maybe, she had always been this way, and now she was just revealing her true nature.

She didn't dare to think further, coldly turning her gaze away. "I don't want to hear such hypocritical words, Grant. I want you to owe me for the rest of your life!"

With that, she turned and walked away quickly.

Watching her back, Grant's eyes flickered, and he moved his lips but ultimately said nothing.

He and Jennifer were always from two different worlds. When she helped him save his mother, he felt something for her, but when she used that favor to pressure him, those feelings quickly faded.

There was always a sense that fate wasn't on their side.

Moreover, Jennifer's unscrupulous means to achieve her goals and her selfish nature made him foresee their future.

Even if they forced themselves to be together, it wouldn't end well, and he wasn't willing to do something destined to fail.

The news of Jennifer being fired for spreading rumors about Constance at the company quickly spread, shocking everyone.

"No way, did I hear that right? Jennifer is the daughter of the president of the Chambers Group, and she got fired so easily?"

"That just means the people she dealt with before weren't on her level. This time, she brought it on herself."

"Looks like Constance really is the adopted daughter of the Drake family. We better be careful when talking to her from now on. She might be another Jennifer."

As everyone was gossiping, they saw Jennifer carrying a box out of the office, her face extremely grim.

Everyone quickly lowered their heads and busied themselves, afraid that Jennifer might suddenly target them.

However, Jennifer said nothing, silently carrying the box and leaving.

After she left, people started discussing again, but more out of happiness. After all, working with Jennifer over the years, she had caused trouble for everyone to some extent. If it weren't for the high salary at Luminary Ventures Group, they would have left long ago.

In any case, after Jennifer left, the atmosphere in the design department became much more relaxed.

Just as she walked out of Luminary Ventures Group, the man who had appeared in the bar before suddenly appeared in front of her again.

"Jennifer, if you had agreed to work with me back then, you wouldn't be in this situation now," the man said.

Jennifer's expression turned icy, and she snapped, "Get lost, don't get in my way!"

The man kept his smile and said, "Let me reintroduce myself. I'm Brian Perez, the secretary to the president of Vertex Holdings Group. Are you interested in joining Vertex Holdings Group?"

A look of surprise flashed in Jennifer's eyes, followed by a wary expression. "If you really are the secretary to the president of Vertex Holdings Group, why come to me? With Vertex Holdings Group's current status, just issuing a recruitment notice would attract countless excellent designers."

Brian smiled. "But you have a quality they don't."

"What?"

"You hate Constance."

It took her a good ten seconds before she frowned and said, "Does the president of Vertex Holdings Group have a conflict with Constance?"

"You could say that."

Jennifer's gaze turned cold. "No matter what issues Thomas and Constance have, I don't want to get involved."

She wasn't stupid. The people from Vertex Holdings Group coming to her were likely trying to use her against Constance.

Brian raised an eyebrow, placed a business card on the box she was holding, and said slowly, "Jennifer, sometimes having an extra friend isn't a bad thing. I believe you'll come to find me."

With that, Brian left.

Watching his back, Jennifer's eyes narrowed, but she didn't throw away his business card.

When she got home, she happened to run into Eric, who had come back to get some documents.

Seeing the box in her hand, Eric frowned and said coldly, "What's going on? Did you leave Luminary Ventures Group?"

Jennifer was in a bad mood and didn't want to deal with Eric's questioning.

As she ignored Eric and tried to walk past him to her room, Eric suddenly grabbed her arm. "Jennifer, explain this to me!"

Because of his action, the box in Jennifer's hand fell to the ground, scattering its contents.

Her suppressed emotions suddenly erupted. She glared at Eric and shouted, "Eric, enough! Can't you see I'm in a bad mood? I don't want to answer your questions right now!"

Eric's face darkened. "You don't have to answer. I can go to Luminary Ventures Group and ask myself."

Jennifer shook off his hand and sneered, "Do you really care about me? You're just worried that I might affect your chances of taking over the president's position at the Chambers Group from Dad!"

"Jennifer, if I don't take over as president of the Chambers Group and Bethany takes over the company, all the privileges you have now will be gone. Don't forget, you'll benefit from this too!"

"Don't worry, I was just fired from Luminary Ventures Group. It won't affect your position!"

Hearing this, Eric's face turned even darker. "Why were you fired from Luminary Ventures Group for no reason?"

"Thanks to Constance. If it weren't for her, I wouldn't have been kicked out of Luminary Ventures Group so disgracefully!"

Speaking of Constance, Jennifer's eyes flashed with hatred. She would never let Constance off!

Since Constance appeared in her life, nothing had gone smoothly for her!

Eric's expression turned icy. "I'll investigate this matter. Since you've been fired, stay home and don't cause any trouble!"

Jennifer couldn't be bothered to listen to his long-winded speech anymore. She quickly went upstairs, returned to her room, and shut the door.

Eric looked at the servants standing nearby with their heads down, afraid to speak, and said coldly, "Keep an eye on her. Don't let her leave the house."

"Yes."

Back in her room, Jennifer took out Brian's business card, stared at it for a while, and finally threw it into the drawer in frustration.

She hated Constance and wanted her to disappear immediately, but she wasn't stupid enough to let herself be used by others.

On the other side, after Jennifer left, Holly excitedly went to find Constance.

"Constance, that annoying Jennifer got fired from the company. Just thinking about how she spread rumors about you makes me angry. She deserved to be fired!" Holly said.

Seeing Holly's indignant expression, Constance said calmly, "When she was spreading those rumors about me, didn't you join in the discussion?"

Holly's face stiffened, and a guilty look flashed in her eyes.

But she quickly adjusted her expression and smiled. "I didn't join them. I always believed in you. You wouldn't be the type to deny your biological parents for wealth!"
