Chapter 288
Felix said, "Book the Sky Garden Restaurant, get those flowers over there, and have them set everything up before 6 PM."
James was all, "Got it, boss! On it!"
Then Felix went, "When's the ring showing up?"
James replied, "Tomorrow morning. I'll drop it off at your office."
Felix nodded, "Cool."
After hanging up, Felix had this soft look in his eyes and a smile crept up on his face. Tomorrow, he was gonna pop the big question to Gianna in style. Whatever other girls had, she was gonna have too.
Later that evening, Gianna and Garrett went to say goodbye to Amara.
By the time they wrapped up dinner, it was already past 9 p.m. They dropped Amara off at her hotel, and Gianna hugged her tight, not wanting to let go. "Amara, who knows when we'll see each other again after this."
Amara didn't wanna leave either, but she smiled and patted Gianna's head, saying, "We'll get another chance, don't worry."
Gianna nodded, her eyes a bit teary, "I'll definitely visit you in Desertopia when I can."
Amara replied, "Yeah, you're always welcome."
Garrett chimed in, "And me too. I heard Desertopia's got the most beautiful women, but Amara's never introduced me to any."
Amara rolled her eyes, "Oh, please. With that brain of yours, you can't even walk straight when you see a beautiful woman. By the time you realize it, you'll have been played and won't even know it."
Gianna couldn't help but laugh, and Garrett glared at her, "What's so funny?"
Gianna raised an eyebrow, "You sure you want me to say it out loud?"
Seeing her mischievous grin, Garrett got a bad feeling and quickly said, "Alright, let's not go there today. We're here to see Amara off."
Gianna said, "Yeah, Amara, take care of yourself out there."
Amara's face was full of confidence, "Don't worry, I got this!"
As she finished speaking, they all thought of that time Amara got drunk and fought off a robber, who ended up going to the cops to complain. They burst into laughter.
After the laughter died down, a sense of melancholy set in.
Those good times were gone forever.
Amara felt a bit awkward with the sad vibes and quickly said, "You guys should head back. It's getting late. No need to see me off tomorrow; I leave early and gotta meet an old friend. I already booked a car."
Gianna said, "Alright, safe travels, Amara."
Amara nodded and turned to head into the hotel.
It wasn't until she disappeared that Gianna and Garrett looked away.
Garrett said, "Gianna, I'll drive you home."
Gianna nodded, "Okay."
On the way back to Tranquil Haven Estate, both of them were quiet. Saying goodbye always sucked.
The car stopped at the entrance of Tranquil Haven Estate, and Gianna got out.
Gianna reminded, "Garrett, text me when you get home."
Garrett waved and drove off.
Gianna turned to walk towards the villa, only to see Felix standing not far away.
Felix asked, "Why didn't you call me to pick you up?"
Gianna pressed her lips together and said softly, "Garrett offered to drive me, so I didn't call you."
Noticing Gianna's weird vibe, Felix frowned. Just as he was about to say something, she lowered her eyes and said, "I'm really tired today. I'm gonna rest."
Without looking at him, Gianna quickly walked towards the villa.
As she passed by Felix, he reached out and grabbed her wrist.
Felix asked, "Gianna, what's up? You've been kinda cold to me today. Did I do something wrong?"
Gianna kept her head down, her voice calm, "No, I'm just tired."
After a moment of silence, Felix slowly let go of her hand.
Gianna said nothing and quickly walked into the villa.
Back in her bedroom, she took a shower and went to bed. She was clearly exhausted, but she couldn't fall asleep.
Gianna kept thinking about what Daniel said at the hospital. If the person who saved her was really Jonah, she didn't know how to face him in the future, nor did she know what would happen between her and Felix.
She barely slept that night. When she got up in the morning, her dark circles were heavy, and she looked totally out of it.
After freshening up, she headed downstairs to find Felix already whipping up breakfast.
Felix said, "Gianna, grab some breakfast before you head to work."
Gianna walked over to the dining table and sat down, giving Felix a quick glance. Something felt off about him today.
But she didn't dwell on it. Right now, all she wanted was to figure out if Jonah was really the one who saved her from the fire.
They ate in silence. Just as she was about to leave, Felix suddenly grabbed her arm and said, "Gianna, did you forget something?"
Seeing him point to his face, Gianna pressed her lips together and stood on her tiptoes to kiss his cheek.
As she pulled away, Felix wrapped his arm around her waist, leaning down with his tall frame.
When the kiss ended, Gianna was a bit out of breath.
Felix's deep, husky voice came from above her, "Tonight, I'll have James pick you up for dinner. I got something important to tell you."
Hearing his serious tone, Gianna was surprised and nodded, "Okay."
As soon as she spoke, Felix let her go, "Go to work."
Gianna nodded, "Alright."
After Gianna left, Felix cleaned up the dining table before heading to work.
Just as he stepped out, he got a call from James.
James said, "Mr. Clinton, the Getty Group is gunning for us again. They snagged a major deal from us this morning."
Felix's eyes turned cold, "Notify all shareholders. We're having a meeting at 9 a.m.!"
Daniel had pushed his buttons one too many times; it was time to push back.
At 10 a.m., Bella showed up at the Clinton Group to find Felix.
After much thought, she decided to spill the beans about Thomas hiding with her. Thomas was a ticking time bomb, and turning him in might score her some points with Felix.
Arriving at the Clinton Group building, Bella called James.
Knowing she wanted to see Felix, James frowned, "Miss Redstone, Mr. Clinton is in a meeting right now and can't see you."
Bella's grip on her phone tightened, anger bubbling up inside her.
When Felix was into her, James's attitude was totally different. Now, he was all arrogant and dismissive. Once she got rid of Thomas and Gianna, the first thing she'd do was have Felix fire him!
Taking a deep breath, Bella said slowly, "You're looking for Thomas, right? I have info on him. You sure Felix doesn't wanna see me?"
There was a few seconds of silence on the other end before James's voice came through again.
James said, "I'll come down to get you."
After bringing Bella to the top floor, James didn't take her to Felix's office but to the reception room.
James said, "Miss Redstone, please wait here. I'll let you know when Mr. Clinton's meeting is over."
Suppressing her anger, Bella was about to ask him for a glass of water when an employee from the procurement department rushed in.
The employee said urgently, "James, there's an issue in procurement. Mr. Clinton isn't here, so you need to check it out!"
James's expression changed. He didn't have time for Bella and quickly left with the employee.
Left alone in the reception room, Bella gave a cold smile. She stood up and headed straight for Felix's office.
Every time she came to see Felix before, she would wait in his office. This time would be no different!
Entering the office, Bella walked directly to the sofa.
As soon as she sat down, her gaze froze.
On the table in front of her was a velvet ring box.
Bella's heart sank. She bit her lip and picked up the box, opening it to reveal a heart-shaped diamond ring, sparkling under the light.
When she was with Felix, he had given her many pieces of jewelry, but only one ring.
That time, he proposed to her, wanting her to marry him and not go abroad, but she refused.
And now, this diamond ring was definitely not for her.
He was going to propose to Gianna!
Bella was filled with overwhelming jealousy thinking about this.
Just as she was about to pick up the ring, a cold voice sounded behind her.
Felix asked, "What are you doing?"
