Chapter 359

Eric finally noticed Eliza standing next to him and quickly apologized, "Mrs. Drake, I'm so sorry. I didn't see you there. I was too worried about Miss Drake."

Seeing the genuine concern in his eyes, Eliza felt a good vibe from him and smiled. "No worries. Aren't you supposed to be at work today?"

Eric gave an awkward smile. "I just came to check on Miss Drake. I'll head to the office soon."

Eliza could see right through him; it was clear Eric had a thing for Constance and was trying to make a move. Compared to Felix, Eric seemed like a much better option.

She smiled and said, "I was just about to go downstairs to get Constance some breakfast. You two can chat."

After that, Eliza glanced at Constance and winked. "Constance, I'm going to get your favorite breakfast. It'll take about half an hour."

Catching her hint, Constance said reluctantly, "Mom, I don't really want to eat that much. Just grab something from the hospital cafeteria."

Eliza insisted, "That won't do. I'll head down now. Call me if you need anything."

As if afraid Constance would protest more, Eliza quickly grabbed her bag and phone and left.

Eric, standing nearby, also picked up on Eliza's matchmaking intentions, and his smile became even more genuine.

After Eliza left, he placed the flowers aside and sat down by the bed. "Miss Drake, I know this might not be the best time, but ever since our first date, I've fallen for you. Could you give me a chance?"

Constance's expression stayed neutral, showing no excitement at his confession, her emotions barely shifting. Just as she was about to turn him down, a surprised female voice came from the doorway. "Mr. Clinton, are you here to see Miss Drake? Why don't you come in?"

Both of them looked towards the door and saw a tall figure standing there.

Felix was wearing the same hospital gown as Constance, his face a bit pale, but it didn't take away from his good looks. The gown, which looked loose on others, fit him like a tailored suit.

Constance couldn't help but think, 'Good-looking people look good in anything, even hospital gowns.'

However, noticing Felix's cold gaze fixed on her, his deep eyes unreadable, Constance couldn't help but press her lips together.

Constance said, "Mr. Clinton, I heard you and your secretary saved me. I was too dizzy yesterday to thank you properly. I didn't expect you to come by this morning. Thank you for what you did yesterday."

Before she could finish, Felix interrupted her, "Are you upset because I interrupted Eric's confession to you, Miss Drake?"

As he spoke, Felix slowly walked into the room.

His presence was so overwhelming that the spacious room felt cramped, especially with his 6'1" height, making it seem like the ceiling had lowered.

Constance was inwardly annoyed, feeling that Felix was doing this on purpose. He could have easily pretended not to hear anything.

Seeing Felix, Eric had a flash of discomfort in his eyes and forced a smile. "I didn't expect the person who saved Constance to be you, Mr. Clinton. Thank you so much!"

Hearing him call her by her first name, Constance's eyes showed a hint of displeasure.

Felix's expression was cold. He didn't give Eric any consideration. "I saved her. What are you thanking me for?"

Eric's face changed, his smile becoming strained. "Constance is someone I care about deeply. Of course, I'm grateful to her savior."

Felix chuckled lightly, "By the way, I think I heard you confessing to Miss Drake earlier. I wonder if Miss Drake plans to accept."

As soon as Felix's words hung in the air, the room went dead silent.

Eric's hand clenched into a fist at his side, his gaze darkening. He had confessed today to let Constance know his feelings, not expecting her to accept immediately. But with Felix's interference, she might reject him!

Sure enough, the next moment, Constance looked at Eric and said, "Mr. Chambers, thank you for your feelings, but I'm not looking to start a relationship right now."

Eric forced a smile. "That's okay. I'll quietly stay by your side. I have a meeting at the office, so I'll head out now. I'll visit you again."

With that, Eric hurriedly left, not wanting to stay and risk Felix saying something else to embarrass him further.

Once they were alone, Constance said indifferently, "Mr. Clinton, thank you and James for saving me. As a token of gratitude, I'll discuss with my father about continuing the collaboration between the Drake Group and the Clinton Group."

Felix looked at her intently. "That's not what I want."

His gaze was so direct, filled with deep emotion, that Constance couldn't meet his eyes, her heart racing.

Realizing this, Constance felt annoyed. Knowing he saw her as a stand-in for his ex-wife, she couldn't believe she was still moved. She really needed to find a man.

Constance said, "Mr. Clinton, that's the only way I can repay you. If you want something else, I'm sorry that I can't give it."

Hearing the coldness in her voice, Felix's eyes showed a hint of disappointment.

Felix replied, "It's okay. I know you don't trust me now, but I'll show you my sincerity over time."

Constance sneered, "Mr. Clinton, while I'm grateful you saved me, using that to demand something in return is a bit shameless, isn't it? You see me as a stand-in for your ex-wife, but I won't be anyone's stand-in. The best I can do is to restore the collaboration between the Drake Group and the Clinton Group. If you need money, name your price."

Felix's eyes turned cold. He walked to the bedside and suddenly leaned in close to Constance. Startled by his action, she didn't back away but stared at him coldly.

As the distance between them closed, Constance caught a whiff of pine from him, frowning.

'I haven't smelled this on anyone else, so why does it feel familiar?' she thought.

Felix stared into her eyes, chuckling, "Money? How much do you think your life is worth?"

Constance's eyes showed impatience. "Mr. Clinton, is this amusing to you? You indeed saved me, but there's no law that says I have to marry my savior, right?"

Before she finished speaking, Felix said softly, "So you've thought that far ahead? I just want a chance for us to get to know each other."

Seeing the teasing in his eyes, Constance frowned. "No need. Mr. Clinton, you're not my type, and I'm not interested in getting to know you."

"How do you know you're not interested if you don't get to know me?"

"Mr. Clinton, is this fun for you?" Her eyes showed undisguised disgust as she looked at him coldly. "I hate men who pester the most. I hope you can have some self-respect!"

Felix had said similar words to Gianna before, and now that they were directed at him, he understood how painful it was. It felt like a knife was twisting in his heart, making it hard to breathe.

"Constance." He reached out to touch Constance's face, but before he could, an angry voice came from behind. "Felix! What are you doing to Constance? Stay away from her!"

As Felix turned around, Eliza angrily threw the porridge she was holding at him!
