Chapter 349
Constance gave a nod. "Got it. Thanks."
Seeing Constance take on the task, Jennifer's lips twisted into a cold grin. "No way she's finishing that. Then we can boot her out of Luminary Ventures Group."
Clara bit her lip, feeling a bit guilty. "Jennifer, the deadline's the 20th, but you told Constance it's the 29th. What if she figures it out?"
Jennifer cut her off, her voice icy. "Enough. Nothing will happen to you as long as you keep quiet. Just say Constance misheard. It won't come back to you."
"But—"
Jennifer snapped, "No buts! Have you finished today's work? Did you organize those design drafts I asked for?"
Clara looked defeated and turned to leave.
Once the office door closed, Jennifer's cold smile returned.
Jennifer thought, 'If it comes to that, I'll just throw Clara under the bus too. Let her leave with Constance. Clara's always been slow anyway, and I've wanted to replace her for a while.'
Meanwhile, Constance was going through documents and noticed Jennifer had given her the toughest parts. A smirk crossed her face.
As she pondered over the design, her phone buzzed on the desk.
It was a message from Eric, inviting her to dinner that evening.
Now that she was in the same company as Jennifer and could get her revenge directly, she didn't need to deal with Eric anymore. She declined his invite and got back to work.
Constance was super efficient. By the time she wrapped up for the day, she'd finished over a dozen design drafts, about a third of the workload.
With no other plans, she decided to knock out the design drafts first and then dig into Luminary Ventures Group's past projects.
She'd picked Luminary Ventures Group because it was owned by Xavier's friend and had good potential. On Xavier's recommendation, Constance had done some basic research and decided to join.
Now, with some free time, she planned to get a better understanding of the company to make her future work easier.
Over at the Clinton Group's Thundertop branch.
James rushed into the CEO's office, file folder in hand, looking excited. "Mr. Clinton, the private detective got a side profile photo of Miss Drake, and she looks a lot like Miss Redstone!"
At first, he couldn't believe what Felix had said, but now he thought Gianna might really be alive.
"Give it to me!"
Felix grabbed the folder and opened it. When he saw the photo, his eyes turned cold.
Felix thought, 'This has to be Gianna! So three years ago, she didn't die; the Drake family took her. But why hasn't she come back to find me? Is she still mad?'
Remembering what Thomas had said about lying to Gianna that he chose to save Bella, Felix's heart tightened. 'Maybe she's disappointed because of that. If I can clear up the misunderstanding, we can be together again,' he thought.
Felix ordered, "Find out where she is right now! I need to see her!"
"Yes, Mr. Clinton."
James quickly found out that Constance had joined Luminary Ventures Group and informed Felix, who then rushed to the building.
A little after five, Constance walked out of the Luminary Ventures Group lobby.
Seeing her face clearly, James couldn't help but exclaim, "It's Miss Redstone. She's really alive!"
As he spoke, Felix had already pushed open the car door and was striding quickly towards Constance.
Just as Constance stepped out of the company doors, she was suddenly blocked by a tall figure.
She frowned and looked up, seeing a handsome face. His features were the most perfect she'd ever seen on a man, even her four brothers couldn't compare.
Constance frowned and took a step back. "Who are you? Do you need something?"
Seeing the unfamiliarity and wariness in her eyes, Felix felt a pang of pain in his chest.
Felix replied, "Gianna, it's me, Felix. Have you forgotten?"
The sorrow and excitement in his eyes seemed genuine, but Constance couldn't help feeling a bit irritated.
Constance asked, "Felix? The same Felix who recently held a celebration party that ended up getting my family's hotel bombed, the CEO of the Clinton Group?"
Felix stepped forward to grab her hand, but Constance quickly pulled away.
Constance warned, "Mr. Clinton, this is our first meeting, and you already want to hold my hand? That's a bit much, don't you think?"
Constance's eyes were filled with anger as she glared at Felix. She was unaware that someone else had seen their encounter and secretly taken photos.
A look of disappointment flashed in Felix's eyes as he said softly, "Gianna, I know you're still angry about what happened three years ago, but I can explain. At that time, I chose to save you, but I didn't expect the path to lead to Bella."
Constance looked at him in bewilderment, suddenly recalling how Jonah had also been very excited when he saw her during a date. Could it be that she really resembled Felix's deceased ex-wife?
Constance said, "Mr. Clinton, I don't know you. Please don't bother me again."
Felix asked, "Gianna, what will it take for you to forgive me?"
Constance felt a bit helpless and was about to speak when two men in black suits suddenly appeared beside her.
"Miss Drake, is this man bothering you?"
Tom and Trevor were usually tasked with protecting Constance from the shadows and rarely appeared in front of her. This time, they noticed something was wrong after seeing Constance being harassed for a while.
Seeing Tom and Trevor, Constance was surprised but quickly nodded. "Yes, I don't know him."
"Miss Drake, you should go home. We'll handle this."
Constance, already annoyed by Felix, agreed, "Alright."
She turned and left immediately. Felix tried to follow, but Tom and Trevor blocked his way.
"Get out of my way!" His voice was cold, and he exuded a powerful aura that would have overwhelmed an ordinary person.
However, Tom and Trevor just looked at him coldly, their faces expressionless.
Felix's eyes grew even colder, and he was about to make a move when James hurriedly stepped in to stop him.
James reminded, "Mr. Clinton, these are Black Security personnel from the Drake family. Each one is trained to the level of mercenaries. Now that we've found Miss Redstone, we can take our time with the rest."
Felix was also puzzled as to why Gianna didn't recognize him, and she didn't seem to be pretending.
Starting a conflict with the Drake family now wouldn't be wise and could further complicate his relationship with Gianna.
Back in the car, Felix coldly ordered, "Within three days, I want to know everything about her past few years!"
Now that he knew Constance was Gianna, it would be much easier to investigate her past.
"Yes, Mr. Clinton."
Meanwhile, Jennifer sent the photos she had taken to Grant. After waiting for a while without a response, she couldn't stay calm and went directly to the design department to find him.
She pushed open Grant's office door, her eyes filled with anger as she looked at him. "Grant, did you see the photos I just sent you?"
Grant frowned, closed the file in his hand, and looked at her coldly. "Jennifer, please knock before entering my office in the future."
Jennifer sneered, "I asked if you saw the photos. Answer me!"
Grant replied, "I saw them, but so what? If you have time to secretly take photos of colleagues, you'd be better off finishing the design drafts for the Collins Group."
Seeing his calm demeanor, Jennifer couldn't help but grit her teeth. "Even if you saw Constance entangled with Felix, you're still going to cover for her?"
