Chapter 263
When Felix and Bella hit the rooftop, Ximena was right there on the edge, looking ready to jump.
She'd rather die than live with the shame!
The docs and nurses nearby were all like, "Mrs. Clinton, Mr. Clinton is almost here, chill out!"
"Mom!"
Hearing Felix's voice, Ximena turned around, shaking, and saw Felix and Bella rushing towards her. She gritted her teeth and yelled, "Don't come any closer! Or I'll jump right now!"
Felix froze and looked at her, saying, "Take a breath. Think about Hannah, who's still studying abroad. If she knew you were dead, she'd be crushed."
Ximena's eyes flickered at the mention of Hannah, and she hesitated.
Right then, Bella chimed in, "Ximena, I need to talk to you."
Ximena's hand tightened as she looked at Bella.
When those two jerks were humiliating her, it was Bella who barged in to save her. Even though she was a bit late, she stopped things from getting worse.
Ximena stayed quiet, and Bella slowly moved closer.
Once she was close enough, Bella grabbed her hand, finally letting out a sigh of relief. She whispered in Ximena's ear, "Ximena, I told Felix and everyone else that those two guys didn't do anything to you. I stopped them in time. I'll deal with those two. You don't need to worry."
Ximena was stunned and felt a wave of relief.
She had wanted to jump because she thought everyone knew what had happened to her, and she wanted to end it all.
"Why should I believe you?"
"Ximena, I'm here to help Felix. I wouldn't hurt you. Whether you believe it or not, I've always respected you."
While Ximena hesitated, Felix signaled his guys to slowly approach Ximena and Bella.
"Ximena, don't you want to see Thomas, who caused you so much pain, get what he deserves?"
Hatred flared in Ximena's eyes, and she tightened her grip on Bella's hand.
She did! She wanted to take Thomas down herself!
"Ximena, let's head back first. Right now, the most important thing is for you to get better. As for those docs and nurses, I'll make sure they keep quiet. Don't worry!"
With Bella's persuasion, Ximena finally calmed down and went back to the ward with her.
Bella didn't let Felix in. She stood at the door and told him, "Felix, I'll stay with Ximena. You go handle your stuff. I'll take good care of her."
Felix was quiet for a few seconds before saying softly, "Thanks."
Bella forced a smile, "It's nothing. I've always thought of Ximena as family."
No one knew what Bella said to Ximena in the ward, but Ximena finally calmed down and stopped trying to end it all.
Worried, Felix waited outside the ward. As soon as Bella came out, he rushed over.
"How's my mom now?" Felix asked.
"Ximena won't try to off herself again," Bella replied.
Hearing this, Felix's tense expression finally eased. He looked at Bella and said, "Bella, thank you!"
Bella looked away, her expression a bit sad.
"Felix, have we grown so distant?" Bella asked.
Felix pressed his lips together and took a moment before speaking, "I appreciate your help, but the person I like now is Gianna. It's better if we keep our distance."
Bella bit her lower lip, tears welling up in her eyes. She gave a bitter smile and looked down, "You're right. I don't deserve you anymore."
Felix frowned but didn't say anything.
After a moment of awkward silence, Bella couldn't help but speak up, "There's nothing more for me here. I'll head back."
"I'll have someone take you," Felix said.
Once Bella left, Felix told his guys to keep a close watch on the ward and let him know ASAP if anything happened with Ximena.
Just as he was about to head back to Elm Bay, his phone rang.
As soon as he picked up, his subordinate sounded panicked, "Mr. Clinton, Thomas has been taken!"
Felix's eyes went cold, "What happened?"
"Not long after you left, we got knocked out. When we came to, the basement was empty except for the bodies of those two men. Thomas was gone!"
"Check the surveillance. We need to find him!"
"Yes, sir!"
Hanging up, Felix immediately called James.
"How are the preparations I asked you to make?"
"Mr. Clinton, everything's ready. We can move anytime."
"Do it now. Find all the NightShadow members in Dawnridge!"
"Got it, I'll notify them right away!"
After hanging up, Felix's expression turned icy.
If he was right, NightShadow must've taken Thomas.
Thomas had been so cocky because NightShadow had his back.
As long as NightShadow's power was wiped out, Thomas wouldn't stand a chance against the Clinton family again!
In an abandoned chemical plant on the outskirts...
"Mr. Moore, why go through all this trouble to save Thomas? He's useless to us now."
Mr. Moore's lips curled into a cold smile, "How do you know he's useless? Thomas is a tool we can use against the Clinton family. If we lose this tool, we'll have to confront the Clintons ourselves, and then we'll be exposed."
Hearing this, the subordinate lowered his head in shame, "I was short-sighted."
Mr. Moore said nothing more, looking disdainfully at the bloodied and motionless Thomas lying on the ground.
"Get him treated. Once he's healed, send him back to Dawnridge to keep fighting the Clintons."
"Yes, sir!" the subordinate replied.
Just as they were about to take Thomas away, another subordinate rushed over.
"Mr. Moore, the network we painstakingly built in Dawnridge has been completely exposed by Felix. His guys are clearing out our people!"
Mr. Moore was silent for a few seconds before letting out a chilling laugh.
"He's indeed formidable. Give the order to pull out of Dawnridge."
The subordinate hesitated, "But it took us so long to establish our power in Dawnridge."
Before he could finish, he met Mr. Moore's cold gaze and shivered, quickly lowering his head.
"Yes, I'll go right away!" the subordinate replied.
After the subordinate left, Mr. Moore looked in the direction of Dawnridge, a cold smile on his lips.
"Felix, we will meet again!" Mr. Moore said.
It wasn't until midnight that Felix got a call from James.
"Mr. Clinton, NightShadow retreated quickly after realizing they were exposed. They've vanished without a trace."
Felix nodded indifferently, "Keep tracking Thomas and the NightShadow Mercenary Organization."
"Understood. By the way, what should we do with the safe we took from Thomas?"
