Chapter 279
Nicole shot back, "Alright, got it."
Daniel hung up and stared out the window, a smirk playing on his lips. "Just some Getty Group lackeys trying to mess with me while I'm gone. They're in for a surprise when I get back."
Meanwhile, over at the Clinton Group, Felix had just wrapped up an international meeting when Wesley called.
"Mr. Clinton, I heard the Getty Group's hitting back at you guys? The Clinton Group's been taking some hits lately. Can you handle it?" Wesley asked, clearly testing the waters.
Felix, not missing a beat, replied coolly, "Mr. Garcia, don't worry. Losing a few deals won't shake the Clinton Group."
"Good to hear. If you need any backup, Mr. Clinton, just holler. We're partners now, and I don't want anything messing that up," Wesley said.
Felix smirked, "No need, but thanks."
After hanging up, Felix checked on the Getty Group's moves and frowned. According to his calculations, the Getty Group shouldn't be bouncing back this fast unless Wesley dropped another bombshell to stir things up.
Lost in thought, his phone buzzed. Seeing Bella's name, a cold glint flashed in his eyes. He hung up and blocked her number.
But Bella wasn't giving up. She texted him from another number.
Bella: [Felix, I know you don't want to see me, but I've seen Gianna meeting with a guy a few times lately. Took some pics and sent them to your email.]
Felix's face darkened as he opened his email. Sure enough, there were the photos. His grip on the mouse tightened.
The pics were grainy, but he could still make out Gianna and Garrett in a café.
After staring at the photos for a bit, Felix finally called Gianna.
On the other end, Bella saw the email marked as read and smirked. Felix didn't trust Gianna as much as he claimed. Otherwise, he would've deleted the email without a second thought.
Next, she'd keep chipping away at their relationship.
As soon as Gianna picked up, Felix's voice was icy. "Gianna, have you been meeting with Garrett these past few days?"
Gianna didn't hesitate, "Yeah, so what?"
Felix's annoyance flared. "Why didn't you tell me? I had to hear it from someone else."
After a pause, Gianna shot back coldly, "Are you accusing me of something? Do you think there's something going on between Garrett and me?"
Felix wanted to play it cool, but her tone just fueled his anger. "I don't want to jump to conclusions, but why do you need to see Garrett so often?"
Gianna snapped, "Felix, I have my own life. Garrett and I are just friends. If you can't handle that, then I have nothing more to say!"
She hung up.
Felix called back, but Gianna didn't pick up.
His expression turned icy as he stormed out of the office.
Felix barked, "Get the car ready. I'm going to see Garrett!"
An hour later, a sleek black Maybach rolled up in front of Garrett's hospital.
Garrett was in the middle of treating a patient when Felix stormed in, his icy demeanor scattering a few patients. Trouble was written all over his face.
Garrett glanced up, "Mr. Clinton, take a seat. I'll be with you in a minute."
After finishing up with the patient, he handed over a prescription. "Take this three times a day. If it doesn't help in a month, come back. You can grab the meds at the back."
Turning to Felix, Garrett asked, "Felix, what's up?"
Felix snapped, "Stay away from Gianna!"
Garrett raised an eyebrow, "Does she know you don't trust her this much?"
Felix's eyes were cold, "This isn't about trust. I just don't want other guys hanging around her all the time!"
Garrett sighed, "Felix, as her boyfriend, you should know she hates being controlled."
Felix sneered, "Garrett, you fixed my leg, and I'm grateful. If you need money or anything else, I got you. But stay away from her!"
Garrett felt a pang of pity for Gianna. "Felix, you don't get her at all."
Felix shot back, "Whether I get her or not is none of your business. If I catch you with her again, this hospital's done!"
Just then, a cold voice cut through the tension.
Gianna stormed in, "Felix, if you lay a finger on Garrett, we're over!"
Both men turned to see Gianna, eyes blazing with anger.
Felix's face twisted with disbelief and rage, "You're defending him now?"
"Yes!" Gianna stood by Garrett, her gaze icy.
She said, "If you have a problem, take it up with me. Don't forget, if it weren't for Garrett, you'd still be in a wheelchair."
Felix retorted, "That's a separate issue. Just because he helped my leg doesn't mean I have to put up with him being around you!"
Gianna's voice was steady, "If you can't trust me even a little, we might as well break up now."
"Gianna!" Felix's face was dark, his eyes like ice.
"Take that back!" he shouted.
Gianna stood her ground, silent and unmoving.
The tension was thick, Felix's aura suffocating.
Garrett quickly interjected, "Gianna, Felix cares about you. Maybe you should talk it out."
Gianna looked at Garrett, guilt in her eyes, "Garrett, I'm sorry about today. I won't let him do anything to you."
Ignoring Felix completely, she turned her back on him.
Felix lost it.
