Chapter 128
Evidence was laid out before him, yet he remained so shameless.
"Mr. Walton, your signature is on every purchase order."
Hayden smiled faintly and said slowly, "Indeed, my signature is there, but it only shows that I instructed the purchasing team to buy the fabrics listed on the orders; and the money was transferred through the company's account, not through my hands. Even if there was embezzlement, it would be the responsibility of the purchasing department, not mine. What does it have to do with me?"
Gianna raised an eyebrow. "Mr. Walton, are you refusing to admit it?"
"If I didn't do it, why should I admit it? Besides, my annual financial transactions are all traceable. If you don't trust me, you can investigate yourself."
"I will certainly investigate; but before that, I hope Mr. Walton will stay put in Dawnridge and not wander around."
Hayden sneered, "Rest assured. I won't run!"
Anyway, all that money had been taken care of; and Gianna wouldn't be able to trace it back to him.
"Then we'll wait and see."
As they left Hayden's ward and reached the elevator, a voice of anger came from behind. "Gianna, what are you doing here?!"
Gianna turned around and saw Lauren holding a lunchbox standing not far away, her eyes filled with anger as if she wanted to poke a hole through her.
Unexpectedly, Bella was also in this hospital.
Gianna looked indifferent. "Mrs. Lauren, what's the matter?"
"How dare you ask? You've made Belle so miserable. Now come with me to kneel in front of Belle's hospital bed and beg her to forgive you!"
Gianna frowned, took a step back to avoid Lauren's reaching hand, and said coldly, "What do you mean? How did I harm her?"
"Are you denying that Bella's suicide attempt wasn't your fault? You were jealous that she could participate in the design competition while you could only be a temporary water carrier, so you deliberately plotted against her!"
A hint of sarcasm flashed in Gianna's eyes. "Did she tell you that?"
"Does she need to? I've always known you are such a malicious woman!"
Gianna was already tired of reasoning with Lauren. In Lauren's eyes, everything Belle did was right; and everything she did was wrong.
Seeing Gianna's indifferent expression, Lauren became even angrier.
"Hurry up and kneel to beg Belle for forgiveness!"
Gianna sneered, "I don't owe Bella anything. It's what she owes me!"
"You're talking nonsense!"
"Belle jumped off the building because she drugged me, and Felix found out that, so Felix drugged her too. She had no choice but to jump."
After speaking, Gianna turned and left directly, but Lauren grabbed her.
"What did you say?! You actually watched Felix do such a thing to your sister and did nothing. You're so malicious!"
Gianna shook off her hand, sneering, "I used to think you were just biased; now I see that you are blind and deaf to anything except what you want to see and hear."
"You! Gianna, say that again!"
Gianna's eyes showed no warmth, and she said slowly, "I've repaid what I owed you long ago. If you don't want Belle to be ruined, then make her keep a low profile. Otherwise I will make her lose everything!"
Ignoring Lauren's stunned and incredulous expression, Gianna turned and left directly.
In Hayden's ward, after Gianna left, Faith looked at him disappointedly. "Hayden, you're also a shareholder of the company; and you get a good share of the annual profits. Why would you do something that harms the company's interests?"
Hayden's face was cold. He said impatiently, "Faith, whose side are you on? We are family, and now you're following Gianna to come after me?!"
"I'm on the side I believe is right. You talk about family, but did you think about us being family when you accepted those bribes?"
Hayden snorted, "I see you've been brainwashed by Gianna. If you claim I accepted bribes, then show me the evidence! If you don't have any, stop making baseless accusations!"
Faith shook her head and said slowly, "If you admit it now, I can still plead with Gianna to spare you this time. But if she really finds the evidence, it will be too late."
Hayden's eyes flashed with anger. "Alright. I don't want to see you. Just leave!"
Just as she reached the hospital entrance, Gianna received a call from a real estate agent.
"Miss Redstone, the Villa you were planning to sell has a buyer interested in purchasing it now; and they want to sign the contract immediately. If you're free now, could you please come over?"
Gianna was surprised, nodded, and said, "Okay, I'll be right there!"
She sent a message to Faith saying she was leaving first, then quickly hailed a cab to Grand View.
On the way, the real estate agent kept calling her, saying the buyer hadn't even negotiated the price; they just wanted to buy it.
Gianna thought she must praise the buyer for having foresight when she arrived. But when she saw the person who wanted to buy the Villa, she froze in place.
"Mr. Clinton, why is it you?"
Felix remained calm. "I'm used to living in this house, so I want to buy it back for myself."
Seeing the familiar interaction between the two, the real estate agent spoke up, "Since you know each other, Miss Redstone, you just need to bring the contract and we can proceed with the transfer."
Gianna frowned and coldly said, "I'm sorry. I'm not selling this house."
Gianna turned and walked out of the Villa directly, with Felix catching up just as she reached the door.
"Why won't you sell the house to me?" Felix inquired.
Gianna turned back, looking at him coldly. "Mr. Clinton, do you enjoy toying with me?"
Furrowing his brows, Felix coldly responded, "You think I'm toying with you?"
"Isn't it? You transferred this house to me when we divorced, and now you want to buy it back, what does that mean?!" Gianna retorted.
After a few seconds of silence, Felix leaned in and whispered something in her ear.
A look of disbelief flashed in Gianna's eyes, followed by a furious gritting of teeth. "Shameless! Rogue!"
Raising an eyebrow, Felix calmly stated, "Did I say anything wrong?"
"How can you be so sure that you will definitely need it?! We might both find someone we truly like very soon?" Gianna challenged.
"You won't."
Gianna sneered, "Don't act like you know me so well. As for what I like to eat, and what color I like, you probably have no idea, right?"
"If you're willing to tell me, I'll listen attentively."
Uninterested in continuing the conversation, Gianna simply turned and left.
"If you're not willing to sell it to me, no one else will dare to buy this house!" Felix remarked.
Gianna turned to look at him, then suddenly smiled.
Felix immediately had a bad feeling in his heart.
Sure enough, the next moment, Gianna chuckled, "You put in the effort, so of course I have to contribute as well. Otherwise it would seem like I'm taking advantage of you."
Seeing Felix's expression darken, Gianna's smile deepened slightly at the corner of her lips before she turned and left directly.
Over the next three days, Gianna was busy dealing with matters related to MY FASHION, until a staff member of the design competition called her, reminding her that the final of the design competition was the next day.
"Miss Elia, we would like to invite you to present the award to the winner of the design competition. Would you be willing?"
Gianna declined directly, "I'm sorry. I don't want to attend public events. You can invite other judges."
The staff member sounded disappointed. "Alright, the award ceremony is a week away; and if you change your mind, feel free to contact me."
"Okay."
After hanging up the phone, Gianna wrapped up her work and went to find Faith.
"The quality issues with the fall collection are almost resolved. Do you want to have beef together tonight?"
Faith nodded, "Sure. It's been a while since I had beef."
The two drove to a beef restaurant in Dawnridge known for its service. As they entered the restaurant, they ran into Uriah and Mitchell.
Faith frowned, thinking of changing venues, but Uriah spotted them.
