Chapter 305
The car did a wild spin in the air before crashing down with a deafening thud.
The cars tailing Gianna screeched to a halt. One of the dudes in black checked out the wreck and said, "Man, the driver's seat is toast. She's gotta be dead."
Louis Jackson didn't say a word, just pulled out his phone and dialed.
"Thomas, the car flipped off the road. She should be dead."
"Should?" Thomas's creepy voice on the other end was enough to give anyone the chills.
Louis replied, "The driver's seat is smashed. No way she made it."
Thomas sneered, "Go check. I want a sure answer!"
Louis hung up and glared at the guy who spoke earlier. "Go see if she's dead."
The guy hesitated, looking pale. "Louis, the car's leaking oil. It could blow any second. I..."
Before he could finish, Louis slapped him. "Go now, no excuses, or I'll shoot you right here!"
Under Louis's icy stare, the guy reluctantly walked towards Gianna's car.
When he got there, he saw Gianna's face covered in blood, eyes shut. He sighed in relief and turned to leave.
The next second, he felt a cold blade on his neck, followed by searing pain. He clutched his neck and dropped to the ground.
Gianna's eyes snapped open, cold as ice. She crawled out of the driver's seat, bloodied and looking like she just crawled out of hell.
Seeing his guy go down, Louis's face turned dark. He gritted his teeth and barked, "Get her! Whoever kills her gets half the commission!"
Hearing that, everyone got hyped, eyeing Gianna like she was easy prey, and they all charged.
They were all skilled, but Gianna, despite being much better than them, started losing steam because of her injuries from the crash, and soon she began to fall behind.
They didn't expect her to be such a badass, and their eyes widened in surprise.
Soon, they noticed her injured hand and started targeting it. Her strength was fading fast.
One of them saw her slowing down, his eyes cold, and he sped up his attack.
Finally, he saw his chance and raised his knife to stab Gianna in the chest!
Just as the knife was about to hit, his wrist exploded in pain.
"Ah!" He screamed, dropping the knife.
Felix yanked Gianna behind him. He glared at the dozen men in black and said coldly, "Hurt her, and you're dead meat!"
Seeing Felix, Louis's face twisted in anger. He turned and bolted, leaving his guys behind.
The others didn't notice Louis bailing and rushed at Felix.
Ten minutes later, all the men in black were on the ground, but Felix was hurt too.
His arm and back were slashed up, blood pouring out, his suit in shreds, looking like a mess.
Felix asked, worried, "Gianna, you okay? I'll get you to the hospital right now!"
Seeing the raw worry and pain in Felix's eyes, Gianna's icy heart finally melted, and she threw herself into his arms.
Felix was stunned for a moment, then gently hugged her back.
"Gianna, does this mean you forgive me?"
After a long pause, a soft "yes" came from his embrace.
His furrowed brows finally relaxed, and a smile crept into his eyes, like winter snow melting away.
Felix said, "Let's get you to the hospital first."
"No need. Got a first aid kit in the car? I'll patch you up first," Gianna replied.
"Yeah," Felix nodded.
Back in Felix's car, he refused to be treated first. "You take care of your wounds first. Once you're done, then you can handle mine. I can wait."
Seeing his stubbornness, Gianna quickly bandaged her arm and then looked at him, "Take off your shirt."
If it weren't for Gianna's serious look, Felix would've cracked a joke about her wanting to see him shirtless.
Felix warned, "There might be a lot of cuts. Don't freak out."
As Felix took off his shirt, a dozen knife wounds on his back came into view.
Gianna's eyes welled up, and as she disinfected the wounds, she choked out, "I'm sorry."
Feeling her distress, Felix turned to hold her hand, saying softly, "Don't cry. When you cry, it kills me. Besides, as your guy, it's my job to protect you."
Gianna bit her lip and said quietly, "Turn around, don't distract me while I'm treating your wounds."
After more than half an hour, Gianna finally finished patching up all of Felix's wounds.
By the time they got back to the villa, it was already past 2 a.m., but neither of them felt sleepy.
Felix said, "I've got James looking into those who attacked you. One of them got away, but we'll catch him soon."
Gianna nodded, looking at Felix, "Thanks for tonight."
If Felix hadn't shown up when he did, she might be dead now.
Felix frowned, looking at her with some annoyance, "I don't want to hear 'thank you' from you again."
Gianna was silent for a moment, then looked up at him, "I can forgive you, but you can't lie to me again."
Seeing her serious eyes, Felix felt the urge to tell her he hadn't processed their divorce.
"Gianna, actually I..." Before he could finish, Gianna's phone rang.
Seeing it was Faith, Gianna was surprised. Why would Faith call at this hour?
As soon as she answered, Faith's panicked voice came through.
Faith said anxiously, "Gianna, I saw the news about a car accident on the bridge, and someone died. The photos showed your car. Are you hurt?"
Gianna didn't expect the news to spread so quickly and frowned, "I'm fine. I have something to deal with, so I'll talk to you later."
Hanging up, Gianna looked at Felix, "The car accident on the bridge was caught on camera and is already in the news."
Felix's eyes turned icy cold, "I'll handle it. Within an hour, all news about this will be blocked."
Gianna nodded, "Okay."
Felix made a call, and soon the news was blocked. As for the dozen men in black at the scene, Felix's people had taken them away, so the police wouldn't find them, let alone the media.
After handling this, it was already past 3 a.m. Gianna didn't plan to sleep and got up, "I'll make some coffee in the kitchen. Want some?"
"Yeah, need any help?" Felix asked.
"No." As Gianna walked into the kitchen, Felix's phone rang.
James said, "Mr. Clinton, we found Louis at an abandoned flour mill in the suburbs, but he was already dead when we found him!"
