Chapter 364

Seeing all those snarky comments online, Jennifer was fuming. She thought, 'I've always been the star of the show, never had to deal with this kind of crap. And now, because of Constance, I'm the laughingstock. It's all her fault!'

When she saw Eric's name pop up on her phone, she picked up and immediately started venting, "Eric, I'm done trying to please Constance."

Before she could say more, Eric's angry voice cut in, "What the hell is wrong with you? I told you to get on Constance's good side, and this is what you do?"

Already upset, Jennifer burst into tears at Eric's yelling. "Eric, how dare you yell at me? I didn't do anything with those photos! Haven't you seen how people are trashing me online? I begged her so she wouldn't ignore you because of me, and instead of comforting me, you're grilling me! I don't want to talk to you anymore!"

With that, she hung up.

When Eric called back, she ignored it and eventually turned off her phone.

Meanwhile, Constance saw the posts about Jennifer and immediately called Samuel. "Samuel, did you post those things online?"

Samuel sounded confused, "What things? I'm in Cape Town right now. Did something happen?"

Constance felt a flicker of doubt. 'If it wasn't Samuel, then who? Brandon's too busy with his research, Xavier's deep in politics, Caleb's buried in his PhD, and Timothy's swamped with meetings. But someone clearly posted those things about Jennifer on purpose; otherwise, the Chambers family would've taken them down by now.'

Suddenly, she thought of someone.

After a moment's hesitation, she called James. "James, I need to know, are those posts about Jennifer Mr. Clinton's doing?"

James chuckled, "Yep, but how'd you guess, Miss Drake?"

Even with the confirmation, Constance didn't feel any relief. She sighed and said softly, "James, tell Mr. Clinton to back off. I can handle this."

There was a brief silence before a different voice came through. "Constance, anyone who hurts you should pay the price."

Constance's voice turned icy. "Mr. Clinton, we have nothing to do with each other anymore. Stay out of my business!"

"Sorry, I can't do that."

Despite the apology, Constance didn't hear any regret in his tone.

She took a deep breath and said slowly, "Mr. Clinton, no matter what you do, I'm not getting back with you. Stop wasting your time."

"It might be useless to you, but it means something to me. I won't just stand by and let others hurt you," Felix insisted.

Realizing it was pointless to argue, Constance ended the call. "Do whatever you want!" She threw her phone on the table in frustration and took several deep breaths to calm down.

Constance told herself inwardly, 'Forget it. If he wants to do it, let him. I've already warned him.'

But even as she tried to convince herself, she couldn't shake the feeling of being Felix's prey. Once he set his sights on his prey, he wouldn't stop until he got what he wanted!

The whole mess with Jennifer blew up, and with the Clinton Group putting the squeeze on the Chambers Group, Preston had had enough. He called Jennifer and told her to apologize to Constance.

"Dad, are you nuts? I'm the one getting trashed online, and I didn't even post that photo. I'm the victim here. Why should I apologize?" Jennifer's voice was shaky with anger. She couldn't believe Eric and Preston weren't backing her up.

Preston sneered, "You know damn well if you had a hand in this. Haven't I cleaned up enough of your messes? Do you think you can afford to piss off Constance? Go apologize to her and those colleagues you bullied, or we're done as father and daughter!"

Hearing this, Jennifer finally felt a wave of panic. She thought throwing a fit would get Preston and Eric on her side, but she was dead wrong. She had to face the music!

Jennifer called Clara in and said coldly, "I'm going to apologize to Constance. Record a video of it and post it online, got it?"

Seeing Jennifer's grim face, Clara quickly nodded. "Okay."

Five minutes later, Jennifer stood at Constance's office door and knocked lightly. "Constance, it's Jennifer. I'm here to apologize for the online posts."

"Come in."

Hearing Constance's calm voice, Jennifer was filled with hatred but forced a fake smile as she pushed the door open.

"Constance, I'm really sorry about the online posts. Did they cause you any trouble?" Jennifer said.

Constance looked up at her with a calm expression. "Jennifer, are you apologizing because you were responsible for the online posts?"

Jennifer's face almost twisted, but she quickly adjusted her expression and said, "Constance, I would never do such a thing. After you spoke to me at lunch today, I reflected on my actions and realized that forcing you to forgive me by kneeling was indeed inappropriate and caused you to be cursed. I feel even more guilty now!"

Constance looked at her with a half-smile, her gaze seemingly piercing through everything. "Jennifer, is that really what you think?"

Jennifer wanted to slap Constance right then and there, but she smiled even more sincerely. "Of course, and I will also apologize to those colleagues who resigned because of my inappropriate behavior."

Constance said, "I hope you keep your word, Jennifer."

Leaving Constance's office, Jennifer's smile immediately turned icy as she looked at Clara. "Did you record my conversation with Constance?"

Clara replied, "Yes, Jennifer, I'll send it to you right away."

"Good." Jennifer had no intention of staying there any longer and went straight back to her office.

After receiving the video from Clara, Jennifer sent her Facebook account and password to Eric, asking him to have the Chambers Group's PR team handle the situation.

Soon, Jennifer's apology video and statement were posted online, naturally attracting more criticism.

[Now she knows the pain after being cursed. What's the use of this fake apology? Once the damage is done, it can't be undone!]

[At least she apologized. If she hadn't, what else could you do besides curse her online? Can you avenge those people?]

[Is her apology useful? Seeing those fake words in her apology statement is disgusting. She doesn't regret hurting so many people; she regrets getting caught!]

Jennifer used a fake account to defend herself in the comments, but she was still heavily criticized, making her so angry that she threw her phone.

Jennifer shouted, "Constance, you bitch! I won't let you get away with this!"
