Chapter 381

Constance shot Jasmine a look with a blank expression, giving Jasmine the feeling that Constance thought she was a total idiot.

Jasmine snapped, "I can't just walk away from this movie, Rebecca. If you break the contract now, not only will you lose my boyfriend's investment in your company, but you'll also have to pay triple the penalty. Think it over."

Rebecca's face was cold as she finally turned to face her, eyes full of annoyance. "Jasmine, are you threatening me? Do you think I can't handle the penalty?"

Jasmine's eyes widened in shock and disbelief. "If you pay the penalty, this movie won't make any money! Are you really going to do something so reckless?"

"I didn't want to go this route, but you messed with my best friend today. Pack your stuff and leave. We'll pay the penalty, but we're also going after you for falsely accusing Constance of theft. You know whose reputation will take the hit in the end!"

Jasmine was livid, not expecting Rebecca to stand up for Gianna so fiercely. She thought, 'That bitch is always such a pain, whether in Dawnridge or Thundertop!'

"Fine, remember what you said today. I hope you don't regret it!" Jasmine spat out before storming off, with Alice trailing behind.

Quentin looked grim. With Jasmine gone, he needed to find a replacement quickly. He said, "Miss Wood, Jasmine has left the crew. We can't shoot many of her scenes now. If we don't find a replacement soon, it will definitely cause losses."

Rebecca nodded. "I get it. I'll find someone ASAP."

With that, Quentin couldn't argue and left the dressing room.

Soon, most people had cleared out, leaving just a few extras tidying up costumes.

Constance said, "Rebecca, figure out how much it'll cost to terminate the contract with Jasmine and that investor. Let me know, and I'll cover it."

Rebecca was standing up for her, so she couldn't let Rebecca bear the cost.

However, Rebecca replied without hesitation, "No need. My company can handle it. Besides, even if it weren't for you, I would've found a way to terminate her contract soon. I've read the script, and I think this movie could be a big hit. Jasmine's lack of acting skills would only drag it down."

Constance couldn't help but smile and nodded. "Alright, and I mean it in terms of investment. How about I put in two hundred million dollars?"

Rebecca looked shocked, like she was seeing her for the first time, and suddenly grabbed her arm. "Constance, you're this loaded?"

"Not really. It's all from designing over the past few years."

Rebecca said, "Designing can make that much? No wonder you don't want to act!"

Seeing Rebecca's wide-eyed, hamster-like expression, Constance's smile deepened. "Of course, you have no idea how in demand my designs are. Plus, I have other side gigs too."

Rebecca teased, "You're so rich! Compared to you, I'm just a poor person. Please don't forget about me!"

"Alright, enough joking. You go ahead and get busy. I have something to do later, so I'll head to the company myself."

Rebecca had a ton on her plate today, so she didn't push it. "Alright, if you need anything, just call me. No matter where I am, I'll be there!"

After Rebecca left, Constance went back to her spot to keep working on her designs while waiting for Laura.

Around noon, Laura finally showed up.

Before even changing her clothes, she rushed over to Constance. "Constance, are you okay? I just finished filming and heard Jasmine was giving you a hard time."

Even though Constance didn't remember her, she felt touched by the genuine concern in Laura's eyes. Plus, she had just found out that she and Laura were indeed good friends back in the day.

Constance replied, "I'm fine. Go change your clothes first."

"Okay."

Ten minutes later, Laura came back. She was in a simple white T-shirt and jeans, with white canvas shoes. She could easily pass for a college student.

Laura said, "Constance, let's go. I have so many questions for you."

"Okay."

Since a lot of people recognized Laura, they picked a restaurant with good privacy.

Once they were settled in a private room, Laura looked at her and asked, "What exactly happened? Three years ago, we all thought you died in that fire. I was heartbroken for months before I got over it."

Constance told her about her amnesia and what she'd been through over the past three years. Laura sighed after hearing it. "Given the situation back then, it was probably best that you left. When I heard Felix chose to save Bella, I was furious."

Constance explained the situation and mentioned she was now living with Felix.

Laura was shocked and raised her voice. "You and Felix divorced three years ago. You even got the divorce certificate. How could you not be divorced? Felix must be lying to you!"

Constance was taken aback, her expression turning serious. "Are you sure?"

"Of course I'm sure. You should ask Felix about this yourself," Laura said firmly.

Constance said, "This is really important to me. Let's leave it here for today and meet again next time."

"Okay."

After leaving the restaurant, Constance took a cab straight to the Clinton Group. She needed to know right away if she and Felix were really divorced.

Upon learning that Constance was coming to see him, Felix had James postpone the meeting and asked, "Constance, why did you come to see me so suddenly?"

Seeing the gentle smile on Felix's face, Constance was silent for a few seconds before saying in a deep voice, "Felix, I heard that three years ago, before I was kidnapped, we had already divorced. Is that true?"

Felix's smile froze, and he frowned. "Who told you that?"

Constance asked, "Did we really get divorced?"

She thought, 'If this is true, then what's my current relationship with Felix? To get back together with me, he fabricated such a lie!'

Felix explained, "No, listen to me. Although we divorced before you were kidnapped, after thinking you had died in the fire, I pulled some strings to get us remarried."

Constance's eyes were filled with shock and disbelief. She looked at Felix like he was a madman and unconsciously took a few steps back. "Are you crazy?"

He had remarried someone he thought was dead!

Seeing Constance's resistance, a flash of pain crossed Felix's eyes. "Constance, I couldn't accept losing you at the time, so I did it. I'm sorry."
